The lines on these beautiful machines are just EFFIN PERFECT!! I've ALWAYS wanted a Conquest as far back as I can remember ( since like 10yrs old, oh and a 77 trans am too ) Side note what a gorgeous morning that was in the beginning of the vid.
You're welcome! They are great cars, most people neglect them and give them a bad reputation, but if you sort all the previous owners' faults then they're tough and reliable as ever. This car has been my daily driver for more years than I can remember... and they're not easy miles either, haha.
+MarkMason Susee Good luck finding one. These cars are so rare and if you found one, it would require a lot of work or a nice one but you'd have to pay top price.
Nostalgic. Unbelievable nice Starion, you made me return 30 and more years.. hahahaaa the Starion EX was my first car, Model 1983, a white one with the 2,0 L engine and 180PS and rear axle oil cooler like the Lancer or Sapporo, with very strange but effective leather bucket seats, and a little modified to 210PS with Gotti rims and a nice Supersprint exhaust. What a car. It was very reliable and very fast for that time.. bulletproof with the 4G63 engine... I kept it around 20 years, the last 10 as a second or third car :) The car is still running on the hands of a antique lover with almost 1/2 million km.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching and HEARING your video. Well done. Like a common theme to many posts. I also miss my Black 1986 Mitsubishi Starion ESIR that I bought brand new. $421.68/Month Payment
Imagine if these came with the 4g63 they would've been so popular. Still fun torquey cars! My dad brought me home as a baby in his 89 conquest and still has it lol
yep that's what is required if you want to own one of these, if you want to save some money they're not to difficult to work on,only if the turbo wears or goes bad then its a nightmare other than that, easily maintainable, i think someone commented earlier once you sort out the previous owner's mess its downhill from there and that's the truth!
I just picked up an 86’ for nata sat for 12 years and 74000 miles. Don’t know much but it’s looking mean in my drive way. And by the way I put fresh gas in and a new bay and the freaking thing runs. Love this video loving this car even more
Great looking car! I've seen it at C&C and also out at PIR. A friend of mine has a red one but I don't know anything about them yet since I live in a Toyota world :)
Love these cars. There was a used car dealer in the town I grew up in that always had at least 5 or 6 at any given time. I've always wanted to buy one Starion or conquest it wouldn't make a difference too me. I test drove 2 but they both had too many problems for a with out much aftermarket support in the states.
Good call. I love the way these look too but wouldn't want to own one because the cost of upkeep & maintenance especially now for a 30+ year old foreign car would be ridiculous. I'd be constantly paranoid driving it waiting for the other shoe to drop repair-wise
i bought it! still got it unfortunately the police in my neighborhood didn’t like me having an unregistered car so i had to move it because i have no intention in plating the car! finally got some room to bring it back home and work on it but 2 weeks ago i bought a 1990 eclipse GSX 102K miles rust free 100% stock and came with the OG invoice and all maintenance history so i think i’m going to be selling the quest soon ): edit- no intention in plating the car till i fix it up some**
right and wrong it depends on the engine it came with the G54b 2.6 SOHC and 4G63b 2.0 dual overhead cam (Starions only i think) which i heard had more power but my uncle had one back in the late 80's thru early 90's a 1987 flat side turbo edition 5 spd. he had his up to 135 and yeah it did had just 150 on the dash.
Komeuppance, man what kind of exhaust are you running? Is that a straight pipe? If so what piping and tip size?! Absolutely badass and amazing car. Thank you for keeping this legend alive and well
I know this is really old but most people did a 3 inch catless straight pipe which actually hurts performance. Best set up is 2.5-2.75 inch pipe for just enough back pressure
If I wasn't stuck on mk2 and mk4 supra's I could definitely see myself owning one of these. would sit nicely beside my 1g and 2g dsm's I know nothing about the starions but are you able to head swap with a 4g63 like you can on the later 4g64's?
one near my area for sale for 1500$ runs and drives but salvage , from a tow yard and 240k on dash , pretty clean and has a digital dash , and all original/stock , need a new DD and this is one of the cars i had favd for later consideration , any tips and toughts ? Thanks in Advance.
PerrinYou Correct, all US spec besides first year 83 models had the "automatic" controls. You can sorta see them in my other video: G54b Turbo BIG BLOCK MITSUBISHI smooth idle - 86 Starion
I've been seriously thinking about getting a Starion. I've had a nice MKIII Supra before and I want to get it back, but I also want to try something new, and Starions seem fast and few people know what they are, so I like that they are different. Is there any reason to get a Starion over a Conquest? If they're the same I'd rather have a Mitsu instead of a Chrysler badge!
Same car, rebadged. Thought, the 2.0T isnt as mainstream in the states as the 2,6T /non turbo. Rebuilding is a small pain thought, gearbox holds 350-400hp when its not abused, and mounting a new tranny from a supra or T56 demands some mods. The 2.0T is SOHC, and using the DOHC head also demands quite a bit modifications.
***** Thanks for your informative comment. I've read that people tend to get around 16MPG, is this your experience? Also, how plentiful/expensive are parts? I don't have a ton of money to be spending on my car which is why I can't get an RX-7 no matter how much I like them, I don't have the kinda money to keep them on the road. I managed okay with my Supra, is it comparable?
+CrazyIrishCarl Almost all parts will need to be fabricated yourself, or a shop. Once in a while there is a small run of parts available on eBay. Joining the forums and FB group is a good way to start.
one of the best looking Japanese cars ever made, just my opinion.
@Comedy Room yes but mitsibishi had the eclipse which was similar, so there ya go
Looks like a fc
The starion is an eclipse but rwd version
The lines on these beautiful machines are just EFFIN PERFECT!! I've ALWAYS wanted a Conquest as far back as I can remember ( since like 10yrs old, oh and a 77 trans am too )
Side note what a gorgeous morning that was in the beginning of the vid.
I am a serious fan of this car based on specs and aesthetics alone. Thank you for making this video. Now I really REALLY want one!
You're welcome! They are great cars, most people neglect them and give them a bad reputation, but if you sort all the previous owners' faults then they're tough and reliable as ever. This car has been my daily driver for more years than I can remember... and they're not easy miles either, haha.

rasmey ung I'm magazine necessary Kuhn Mmm hcc Judi km bug ç*
They tend to break. Have a good mechanic and a wrench in hand
I have one almost built I’ll let you know as soon as I have it done it will be fit sale in Florida
I had an 87 conquest tsi when I was 19 yrs old. That was 28 yrs ago. What a cool car. I used to race and surprise fox body mustangs then. Nice car👌
My neighbor up the street had a gold Starion, and man I thought it was one of the coolest cars! With those unique rims!
God I love the Starion and the sound of an old L300! Forest/dirt - riding with the L300 is priceless here in Norway :)
I just responded to a Craigslist ad about an 85 Starion. This video just makes me want it even more. Your build is amazing!
Woooow go for it
My favorite part was the frozen pond. Sweet movie man!!
There's more frozen pond action in the opening scene, the video that keeps on giving!!
Don't know why, but I come back to this video annually. Still an amazing car.
These cars were so fun
First car I was ever in. Dad drove mom to the hospital in one. Faster than emergency response.
I just realized how 80s/90s this was. I was hence born into a family running g a video store. I am a literal repository of pop culture.
Awesome car! I lusted over these cars when I was young, also the Celica/Supra of that year.
Oh my fitment...it's so beautiful 0.0
Awesome looking cars, especially when they first came out.
the way the turbo and blowoff valve sounds, just amazing
What a great looking Starion.
Love the car. It's in a really good condition.
My dream starion wouldn't change a thing
That's high praise, thank you!!
No problem man I really want to own one
I miss my car. Nice setup.
I owned one back in 1983, I was one of the first one to buy....and it was a looker
I found one in the junkyard completely intact.
Buyit
probably mine
Get. It
What did u do?
@@merqury5 left it there
I thoroughly enjoyed watching and HEARING your video. Well done.
Like a common theme to many posts. I also miss my Black 1986 Mitsubishi Starion ESIR that I bought brand new. $421.68/Month Payment
I owned 2 of these, both UK specification cars, and they were mighty!
Imagine if these came with the 4g63 they would've been so popular. Still fun torquey cars! My dad brought me home as a baby in his 89 conquest and still has it lol
Looks like a blast man, sounds healthy!
Cheers from a fellow Oregonian! Sweet Starion man. Someday I hope to own one. And a garage lol
yep that's what is required if you want to own one of these, if you want to save some money they're not to difficult to work on,only if the turbo wears or goes bad then its a nightmare other than that, easily maintainable, i think someone commented earlier once you sort out the previous owner's mess its downhill from there and that's the truth!

This is the goal^^ love it man
uno de los mejores autos de la historia ,,,adelantado a su tiempo !!
Great looking car! I've seen it at C&C and also out at PIR. A friend of mine has a red one but I don't know anything about them yet since I live in a Toyota world :)
+Morgan Schwartz Thank you! I attended both C&C and PIR track days quite a bit this year, haha. Toyota world... so JZ engines everywhere?
I wondered about getting an AE86 Trueno...But after I found this ride thanks to a NewRetroWave video, I think I try to get Starion :)
I love this video.
What up Robert love the video man, I'm gonna have to find another one of these!

That's a clean example of an amazing car. Very sexy.
i’m about to buy a running, rust free conquest for $1000
So did you get it? I know I’m 2 years late.
@@danielsokur lol same
We gotta know bro
i bought it! still got it unfortunately the police in my neighborhood didn’t like me having an unregistered car so i had to move it because i have no intention in plating the car! finally got some room to bring it back home and work on it but 2 weeks ago i bought a 1990 eclipse GSX 102K miles rust free 100% stock and

Yo the gsx’s r so rare, those r the all wheel drive ones right, that’s so sick
nothing beats mitsubishi turbo cars =D i just got a vr4!!! yayyyy
Damn! I miss this ride. I’m going to have to find one and get back in one
Lovely lovely car!
Ive seen you at cars and coffe in tigard multiple times.. Clean car!
+Cam Silver For how ever old it is. Maybe mid to late 80's it is a very nice looking car considering its age.
Love the turbo dump sound.
GORGEOUS!
160MPH Speedo!
what a rare item...
Had to get one for cruising on the Wangan.
g63b111kw think if you more closely, it reads 180Mph ??? :-)
john saunders i believe the original is150. But i dont think the orginal car ran over 130
right and wrong it depends on the engine it came with the G54b 2.6 SOHC and 4G63b 2.0 dual overhead cam (Starions only i think) which i heard had more power but my uncle had one back in the late 80's thru early 90's a 1987 flat side turbo edition 5 spd. he had his up to 135 and yeah it did had just 150 on the dash.
Myke Johnson 2.0 liter 4g6x that was factory in this car was also SOHC
I'd die to be able to purchase one of my favorite designs from the 80's
Saw the Chrysler variant of one of these on Medford Craigslist. If I knew it was a Mitsubishi when it was still up I definitely would have bought it
Oh my fuck that's nice.
An 80's car that looks new even today.
Love the car
damn it, i seriously regret selling my 86 conquest. It was black and sexy as all hell. I hope the dude that bought it is taking care of her.
Gorgeous ride.

Maan that sound makes my heart take pauses. Duuude !
My favorite car
Great video my friend
I bought myself a fiero to work on. But after googling cars today, I WANT ONE OF THEEEESE
This is dope as hell
Komeuppance, man what kind of exhaust are you running? Is that a straight pipe? If so what piping and tip size?!

Nicely done... How hard was the build? Any updates?
This is done as hell
That's what I figured, you know how it is some people can't except the truth. Thanks
I loved mine soooo much
5:28 reminded me of my car (3000GT twin turbo) haha. Ahhh..it's funny till it doesn't start for real. >_> Beautiful car though! ^_^
If I wasn't stuck on mk2 and mk4 supra's I could definitely see myself owning one of these. would sit nicely beside my 1g and 2g dsm's
I know nothing about the starions but are you able to head swap with a 4g63 like you can on the later 4g64's?
had one same color wish i still had it..
This car just ooozes cool.
POP UP UP AND DOWN HEADLIIIIIIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there, may I ask you where're you from?
hi, fantastic starion. What BOV has this got?
+Gestapo TurboXS RFL (Really Fucking Loud)
one near my area for sale for 1500$ runs and drives but salvage , from a tow yard and 240k on dash , pretty clean and has a digital dash , and all original/stock , need a new DD and this is one of the cars i had favd for later consideration , any tips and toughts ? Thanks in Advance.
I'm curious.. where and how is this car now? 🤔
Nice car, I had an '85 Chrysler Conquest (basically same car) and I really liked it. Sadly I had to sell it
My 1G DSM on cold mornings like that was fun..
would you recommend buying one of these?
nice ride - what's the HP with the upgrades?
Fresh starion and what color is that you painted your wheels
Nice car mate...
What was your wheel and tire setup during this video?
Love those things!!!!!
NOS ignition coil, LOL
sigh...I miss my 89' Conquest so bad :'(
I think it’s a hot looking car😍
what have you done with your heater controls Robert, or do you just not run any heater/ac?
Still have heater/ac controls, relocated to below the original stereo area. I daily drive this, gotta have the heater lol.
***** ah nice! These models have the electrical controls don't they?
PerrinYou Correct, all US spec besides first year 83 models had the "automatic" controls. You can sorta see them in my other video: G54b Turbo BIG BLOCK MITSUBISHI smooth idle - 86 Starion
SO AWESOME!!!..THE ASAHI CAN SOLD ME...IF YOU EVER CONSIDER SELLING..LET ME KNOW!!!
Very nice, these cars are as rare as dinosaur shit
what blow off are you running mate?
Well of course. That's the trend with all these manufacturers. American cars just do them more often.
What are your rims wrapped with?
I've been seriously thinking about getting a Starion. Yo for the wheel buildup try maybe some diluted kick acid
What headlights are those
where did you get the top intake from?
Where is this?
I was thinking of building one of these where do you get performance parts for these?
+CrazyIrishCarl Almost all parts will need to be fabricated yourself, or a shop. Once in a while there is a small run of parts available on eBay. Joining the forums and FB group is a good way to start.
+Komeuppance I believe it I haven't seen a single one For Sale. I guess you could find the parts in Japan and ship them
Best thing to do is ditch the 2.6 and swap in a dohc 2.0 from an early evo/vr4
hey dude u at rood bridge park ? i used to own a primer black s13 and used to tear around there all the time
+corey foe You're right I recognized it too
+Morgan Schwartz Shhhhhhhhhhhh... you guys are giving away the secrets... err, I mean this is in Japan, dude.
you should let the car warm up before you drive it
Man, i had forgotten about these, did the daytona turbo use the same engine?
gerald springs no
i amit it my jb is rusting away oh the humanity
Nnnnnnnnnooooooooooooo!!
has this got the 4g54 ?
what bov do you run and where is it located?
1:15 and 2:06 is where it's located.
wait a minute mitsubishi starion and chrysler conquest the same? dont flame me just asking.
marino Sanchez yes conquest are debadged starion
Just like how a Dodge Stealth was a rebadged 3000GT
Why would you roll fenders on a car with factory-equipped widebody?
Other than that... great looking car!
