Very well done video! I took my 07 to the dealer and their diagnostics said it it was indeed the gear selector valve. I ordered the part you posted from amazon. I also ordered a new filter and gasket. I will be doing the repair next week. I will report back!
I did this fix today. Relatively easy just messy. Make sure you watch this video at 4:30. It saved me some time. Use an E12 female torx socket to lower the valve Body ua-cam.com/video/WIqKFZlMJF0/v-deo.html
I encourage you guys to try this it’s not hard. Even without dipping the pan you can manual shift your car into any gear by going under it a switching the arm. I got myself out of a bind the other day doing so on a e83
@@Casiel sorry to hear that your reverse gear also problem.i didn't fix it.i already asked the workshop and they said I need to change a new gearbox and it's very expensive 😪. So there's nothing i can do just keep the same routine. Warming up my car for 20-30 minutes and it's okay.
I have the same exact model and year. My car drives forward and drives fine. It just won’t reverse. This definitely seems like what the problem is. Just don’t know what parts are needed?
Yea I know, they recommended to replace whole transmission parts and labor I believe was 7k plus. Managed to get this fixed, thought I would share this with everybody else out there! Thanks for tuning in, more content on the way!
I have a 2007 x5 and I got my car out the shop & 3 days later it stopped and wouldn’t go in reverse or drive do you think changing the piece in your car would make it work ?
Truer words never spoken! As a retired lifelong auto tech I know better and I still ended up with my 800.00 X3. Good thing I have the time to spend on replacing starters, engine mounts, cv shafts, shocks, springs, and now transfer case bearings. Walking might not be so bad, perhaps a bicycle.
@@contentontherock1958i did the same thing, bought one at $2000 not running or driving. All-in i’m only $3000 deep including tools. It’s been amazing so far. I needed a good AWD car for these crazy maine winters where we get up to 16 inches a day.
You just saved me from putting in a transmission on my weekend off, thanks man
Glad it worked out for you!

Good evening family. Thank you very much for the valuable information and for your time 🙏
Would be helpful if you list the tools and torx sizes needed.
Nice! 👍

What is the parts name
Gear selector valve or rod
not the correct fluid and why the crazy foo wear sunglasses at night underneath the car while pumping said wrong fluid into the transmission
