Useful reminder video for a keen amateur like me who only does these jobs occasionally. I tend to use silicon sealant on all the sink fittings where they joint to the ceramic, including the tap and plughole fitting. Where I’ve just trusted to the rubber seals in the past I’ve had problems. I only use plumbers mate on the threaded water pipe fittings. Also on a basin like that a lot of them have a couple of fixing holes for screwing to the wall so you need to get a pair of basin wall fixing screws (a threaded stud with a plastic screw fixing that clamps the basin back to the wall). Once the cabinet and basin are fitted you also need to silicon joint the gap to the wall. I don’t do soldered joints so I either use compression fittings or push fit fittings for copper. I’ve also used plastic pipe with push fit and compression fittings and that is very quick and easy to use. I realise some professional plumbers look down on plastic “ caravan plumbing” but it’s much easier to use and has been reliable for me.

I only carried on listening to you when I heard you say hold tight a few weeks back as it tickled me but I haven’t stopped watching and educating myself through your videos practicing on my own system & changing, draining, refilling de-sludge rads how to replace inhibitor and adding extra rads how to balance systems for friends and family. Just booked my course. You are ace 👍🏽

Have you got any videos on push taps? I’ve got a set of diva ones at the school I work at and the cold side always gets stuck. We had a set of swan taps before that were a nightmare to use as they were always scaling up. The diva ones I can’t seem to get into the workings in the head to either tighten the spring or clean it out.

    - solvent
    - makita tools you use.
etc etc - it will all add up.

Couldn't agree more about the pipework being neat for future repairs, nothing drives me nuts like service valves facing the back of the unit or drain offs so low you can't attach anything on them!......... Or snots of solder all over the place so it's difficult to cut the pipe where you want, flux left on fittings so they turn green, flexis bent and kinked within an inch of their life, the list is endless.

I have just bought a ceramic basin for the bathroom that just has a hole for the overflow. What sort of trap will I need, is there one where you have a hose that connects the overflow to the trap? I removed the old sink following your videos, first time I have attempted anything like this. The place where I bought the sink from didn't have a clue what I needed!

The pressure is one bar from cold, and not losing pressure.any ideas???

Is it okay to run a waste pipe upward? It's literally only a very slight incline for about 10cm. The new sink I'm fitting to replace my broken one has a different water trap which sits lower than the waste pipe coming through the wall. So I need to use some corner pipe to bring it down a bit. I'm a programmer not a plumber so I'm doing my best lol

would be better if you'd weld a copper fittings with thread on those copper pipes coming from wall and just bought longer flexi hoses to connect! that way its easier to disconnect and move the cabinet away from wall, otherwise if you need to move the cabinet you have to unsolder the 90deg bends
