@@DJ-bj8kuProbably not. They had a very strict rule that everyone would rehearse and rehearse till they had down pat and they taped everything in real time as though it were live theater. You have to remember these actors all got their start in live theater so doing a show in front of an audience where mistakes are not tolerated and if a mistake is made you do your best to make sure the audience doesn’t see it was nothing new to these fine actors.
I have to say that was hilarious ! Archie was SO confused , George just kept taking the money and Archie ended up with nothing ! The look on his face everytime the money was taken ! And he thought Gloria was going to help him too funny !
I'm binge watching All in the Family this week and I just watched this episode today. It is hysterical!! I rewound it a couple of times during this scene....it's brilliant. I love this show so much. Iconic in so many ways.

Nobody ever thinks of comedy shows as doing a cover of another comedy show, but this was clearly the greatest cover of Abbott and Costello bit of two 10s for a 5. And it was done brilliantly.

This scene was based on an old vaudeville routine that was previously showed up in an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show as part of a scene where Buddy, Sally, and Dick where trying out an idea for a skit for the fictional Alan Brady Show of which they are head writers for. The All In the Family version flesh it out fully and is the funnier version.
A freeloader that never paid for anything because he never worked. His father and law supported him and his wife financially and with a roof over their heads and food. Then he got his big job that he never would have gotten without support, then he left his wife and son. He's an ungrateful, entitled deadbeat and loser. Archie should have gave him the boots from the start.

Yes. One of my favorite parts too. Archie caught himself being humble for a second and then snapped at Mike when he realized the meat head was educating him.

I laughed at this one 50 years ago and still one of my favorites.
Timeless brilliance. No other show from this era of television even comes close to holding up like this. Maybe Twilight Zone from years before this.
