Crimping a 4/0 cable lug

  • In a van build, you are likely going to have to crimp lugs onto large size cables. Here is a demonstration of how to strip the sheath, crimp a lug, and heat shrink a 4/0 (4 ought) size cable.

    Thanks for the help! I’m making my first battery cable connection for my offgrid solar system and am using 4/0 welding wire.

    Where did you get that flexible 4/0 wire?

    I see you are using a point or indent style die in your crimper. Do you prefer those, or the hexagonal style dies? Just asking

      Hi Carlos. The lug you need will vary depending on your use case. For example, this is a 4/0 lug for 3/8" stud. a.co/d/g7Yx04A

    stripping back the cable this way would violate the California code
