Thank you for a well done video on this fix. I still have to fumble around some more to find mt sensor. What a pain. I guess with older trucks you must fix parts you won't normally do. You mention this to firestone. They want $100.00 to trouble shoot it plus part plus labor. I even gave them the code. 2001 Ford Ranger. P0715. If anybody needs it.

What year is this truck? I have a 99. Are there two sensors on the 99? On the rear differential as well as on the transmission?
I see several comments regarding where the location is. On most vehicles the "Output" is usually located on the tail end ( Rear), and the " input" is on the Front, if that helps anyone! Also symptoms can vary from, your spedo not working properly, hard shifting in low gears, and even feels like the engine is stumbling at first. When it get "Real Bad", your vehicle may take time to switch into 2and gear like the F 150 im working on right now does. This truck needs to hit 35-40 Klm/hr before it will change into the next gear. "You can" Start off in 1st gear untill you get your speed up,then let off the gas untill your tachometer comes back down, then throw it into drive and your good to go. Until you need to stop again or slow down under 35 klms. 🤪 I recommend you change it out A.S.A.P. you don't want to cause anymore transmission problems. I hope this helps atlest someone! My speedometer has been bouncing up and down occasionally since i got my current car, a 2007 Nissan Murano. I had the alternator replaced a few weeks ago after it died.
I noticed the bouncing has gotten worse since, my cruise control light will start blinking once I start driving about 40+mph and ill be unable to use it. Not to mention it feels heavy like it doesn't want to move, i can get up to speed but very slowly most of the time.
These could all be from the speed sensor?

I have a 99 e-450 7.3 econoline super duty bus/motor home. The guy I bought it off said it would idle perfectly and drive, but when you get up past 35-40 it would start losing power. Eventually I had pedal to the floor and it was only going 5 mph, then cutting off. I dropped the tank and am replacing sending unit, and already replaced front fuel filter and icp sensor. Someone mentioned a speed sensor located on the transmission, and was wondering if the symptoms I mentioned could be the culprit for a bad Speed sensor?

I have a 06 f150 5.4 lit.2WD Automatic left for lunch my truck makes a thump sound and I notice that it will get up to 30mph but no faster in drive mash gas pedal an od moves but truck doesn't. Then I shift over to 2 drive an will go over 60mph 1 drive works fine an reverse works fine. Is it the speed sensor?

this is 3 years later but lol, I am replacing my speed sensor tomorrow. some symptoms were the D would blink, the engine and the ABS system light comes on every time I turn my car on. plus my car jerks and switches speeds. i’ll be going 45 (for example) and it’ll click back and forth between 45, 20, 1 etc. so my brother knew it was my speed sensor when my speed was inaccurate and braking in the middle of me accelerating.

great video, if this sensor is going bad or has a loose connection will it cause the engine to die? This happened momentarily to me the other day on the hwy just for a split second. Happened so fast the engine stayed engaged with the transmission jolted me pretty good though.
Actually this will not cause the engine to stall. Did you scan the car for codes?
@@jimthecarguy it never threw a code. I noticed my battery terminals were really bad espically the positive side. Cleaned it good and hasn't happened since. Don't know if that had anything to do with it?

Yes I have a 03 Lincoln Aviator I was driving down the road and noticed the engine light came on and then the whole download overdrive light started flashing and then over to the side and said check transmission being low on tranny fluid do that because you can't check the tranny fluid I don't know how to do that

We have a 2004 Denali and a Yukon XL suburban and we having trouble with the transmission it shift first in second only and then the third one you have to let your foot off the gas to get in to the third gear and the other gears don't shift a guy td me it was the speed censor .but can you help me

Hi, loved ur video, very helpful! I'm thinking I have a bad sensor. My 2001 dodge neon sometimes will stall and the speedometer jumps up and down, for just a second while driving.. Only does it 3 or 4 times while driving 30 miles distance . It's really scary when I'm by myself and it does that! Do u think it could be speed sensor. Thank u so much!😊

Great video im also a mechanic im doing the same job you just did on a ford f150 so I have to change the out put speed sensor so after I do the swap on the speed sensor it work work then the truck im doing only went no more 20mph I did a transmission swap and transmission filter so when I do the swap clear the speed code and it should work right

My Chevrolete Avalanch 2002...just all of a sudden wouldn't do no more than 45 and that was pushing it...I didn't know!!! Anyway I figured it was my transmission...but my boss told me to chk my speed sensor...will my truck react this way if that's what it needs???

Hello i have a 03 ford escape, the problem I'm having is sometimes when I step on the gas the rpms go down an the truck starts to jerk like its gonna shut off, feels like it's not shifting properly, when I step on the gas pedal the rpms bounce up and down an truck loses speed, but doesn't do it all the time, any advice is helpful, thanks

my 2007 ford freestar won't respond on any gear, it just happened, without warning or symptoms, it was running find, the next day it starts good, but won't respond, just rpm slightly respond and no noise on the transmission, could that be the cause?

When you put the van in gear is the engine running?Can you accelerate the engine rpm's ?

it happens after the winter storm, I just went outside and check transmission fluid when cold and running, there's no pressure, the oil stays the same level doesn't goes down like when is running or hot.

It sounds like something has failed in the transmission.This is a very common problem with that van. the torque converter is inside the trans.The trans will need to come out to check further.let me know if you need any further advice.Do you want to call me?
jimthecarguy that's what I thought too, now I have to get it towed to my dad garage, I think that's answer my question, I'm thinking of changing the whole transmission instead of trying to just replace the torque converter.
any advice on that?
