- Three games have received the lowest cumulative review score from Famitsu Magazine: Pro Golfer Saru for the Wii, Pachinko CR Daiku no Gen-San GB, and Shura no Mon. I've already made videos on the other two, so it's Shura no Mon's turn. Is this the worst fighting game ever made?

Shura no Mon: a brief animation test of an old man exercising that had a game attached to it
There was a Japan-only PS2 release by Artdink called "BASIC Studio". It's a beginner's SDK for making simple games that seems to be inspired by the old Famicom "Family BASIC" in its approach and syntax.
One of the included demo projects is a very simple 1-on-1 fighting game that Shura no Mon *really* brings to mind for me.
Someone should send this off to Matt McMuscles so he can do a Worst Fighting Game episode on it.

Eh, it looks so dull that I think it would make for a dull episode. What's there to talk about? Bland characters. Bland designs. Bland sound. Bland gameplay. That sort of mediocrity is absolute torture to try to discuss in a way which isn't also totally bland.
Rnd posts a 16 min video about it and your first thought and most upvoted comment is how another content creator should do a video on it??? Who actually cares??? Lmao

The game audio desync drives me nuts
I can only hope the sound effects aren't that far behind when actually playing the game!

I can't tell if it's a dry bit or not, but the audio of the game at 8:00 and later feels a few seconds slow. Enjoying the content as usual though. Thank you.
I've noticed Famitsu reviewers tend to give higher scores to RPGs/adventure games and such on average; I guess that's in part because of the Dragon Quest/Portopia craze in the 80s. As for Shura no Mon, it looks... very samey? Looks like an alpha version of the game, and maybe it was. Still probably wouldn't play this one, but I've definitely seen worse, hahah.

Death Crimson has some English language explanation (I found out about it from Pop Team Epic) but I'd love to hear a deep dive on the sequels and especially if the story ever got refined enough to make any sense.

Man, it’s bothering me a lot that there’s no voice acting, just wooshes and hits.
Here it is! The most notorious of the three 12/40 lords. For my money, *The Master’s Fighter* from Cinema Supply (1997) remains the worst fighting game on the original PlayStation, and possibly on any hardware. I think the closest game to what Shura no Mon _attempted_ (but better implemented) was Savaki on the Saturn, followed by SNK’s Buriki One.

"Two minutes of an old man doing stretching exercises"... It's been at least 20 years since I last practiced, but I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a Karate kata of some sort. I recognize a lot of the motions he does, my sensei from back in the day drilled this stuff into our heads.
The fact that it's boring is the key element of its badness, I think. Yeah, the worst rated games aren't catastrophic because at least those games have something to talk about. They're often more ambitious or novel. The worst games aren't the ones that sit at the absolute bottom, they're the ones that are bad and also boring. The un-games.
twin goddesses on PS1 is the worst fighting game I've every played.
That was my other choice for worst PS1 fighting game I own.

You know, for a fighting game that felt like an unfinished prototype...
This intro was rather interesting compare to the King of Fighters Neowave's intro (also the game that felt like an unfinished prototype that never got past it's location test, not actually releasing it).
That game has got to be the lamest intros for a fighting game ever and that says something coming from the person who loves fighting games myself.
Kaijin Zona Is such a cute quiz title with graphics and music both being great. I wish the devs did more 2d pixelart stuff,but I guess it wasn't the right time. Can't say much about Asura, it's not fun enough for a kusoge, just disappointing.
the opening is a kata from multiple styles of karate, probably sanchin kata, not some kind of "stretch"
Thank you for this spin-off mini-series. Perhaps other badly reviewed games might be in order in the future. This game looks really unfinished. The two minute long stretching animation is the most interesting part of this mess.
I’m surprised that something as dire as Hoshi wo Miru Hito or Super Monkey Daibouken is somehow not in the worst reviewed games by Famitsu.
But these three titles somehow were. 😂

Fight for Life feels more polished than this game, and that fighting game was spitefully sent to the publisher unfinished, and they released it in that state anyway.
I tried to watch a gameplay but now i'm blind.. Why on earth devs decided that the red flashing after a hit would be a good idea..

I feel the same. I'm pretty sure there's like hundreds of American fighting games that play SOOOOOOO much worse than this by shots that go on for 50 miles AT LEAST.

Wow, that does look quite bland. I used to think the YuYu Hakusho fighting games were bland, but this takes it to the next level.
Famitsu's worst reviewed games being incredibly bland, short and wastes of time deemed to be forgotten seems like a respectable approach. Sure buggy games or triple AAA promises that aren't delivered may be the internet's definition of worst, but something incredibly forgettable, or so short that it feels like you got robbed, seems to me like a better metric for worst.

Creep Clash is still the worst fighting game I've played.
A "horror themed" commercial release where you get 4 characters and they have 2 moves each. It's rendered in 3D polygons.
It deserves no description beyond that. No hyperbole.

That said, Shura no Mon is just a generic fighter with nothing special, though of the worst 3 games reviewed by Famitsu, this one fell into the middle.
Kinda laughed at 5:43 at the juxtaposition of the footage and the phrase "...and in the '90s..." Doesn't have that one song, but still...
