I'm a hardcore animal lover, and while wild animals can be sweet and well-behaved, you genuinely can't trust them, even if they've been "domesticated". It's sort of a nature vs. nurture issue.

The tragic story of Travis and the caretaker is unforgettable. I can't imagine the thought of just simply believing that you're just going to watch out for a long-time friendly animal, just to get helplessly mangled and torn apart viciously. People really need to understand that wildlife shouldn't be taken advantage of for being domesticated. They can grow up being taught and well-mannered for the most part, but instinctually, they're wild. And although in this case Travis was given unaccounted for drugs, that doesn't steer away from the fact that this animal is vicious in nature. Gorillas and monkeys alike are some of the most gruesome animals believe it or not. So ultimately, the wiser decision for a case like this, is to watch over the animal through a wildlife area - a zoo.

A notable fact about the last one with the chimp attack was that the surgical team who worked on Nash’s facial reconstruction were provided counseling due to the trauma they experienced seeing the horrendous condition of her wounds. Possibly not the surgical team. Doctors (especially surgeons) see far worse all the time. Before finishing med school I've assisted in dozens of gruesome surgeries on the face and had many newborn patients who have had fatal defects die. A face ripped apart is not huge

The last one is so heart breaking. Imagine your pet/companion of many years mauling your best friend, and you have to kill the pet you raised. But it really sounds like she was totally in the wrong for not professionally handling or caring for a wild animal. You don't just give people drugs to pets and hope it works the same way.
Also even beloved pets can hurt you. I am a victim of a dog attack when I was 12. Boston Terrier. Wasn't even a big animal. Had him for about 2 years. Just was laying down on the couch and watching a movie. My dog jumped up on the couch in front of me. Curled himself up and fell asleep. And I just touched his neck to pet him. And heard him start to growl. (He always did this) But.... This time I leaned my face down to his. And caught me by surprise and bit the shit out of me. I started crying and saw what he did in the bathroom mirror. I legit thought I was gonna fucking die. My mom told me to get a kitchen rag and hold pressure on my face. Cried the whole way to the hospital. My Dad was upset... And wanted to fucking put the dog down... He tore into the side upper part of my nose. Like straight down like a cut. And punctured a hole too. Had to get like 16 stitches on the left side of my nose. Only had them in for about 4 days since the surgery. And got em taken out... and I looked pretty great. The scar is barely noticeable. Guy who fixed me up. Did a spectacular job. But ever since then I was was cautious around animals.

I don't know how old that dog is, but the explanation could be that he is going blind. Both dogs I've lived with in my life went blind when they got older. The dog may just be barking because he/she is afraid because they can't see anything. Or, they can see things, but their troubled vision causes things to look blurry. If that was the case, the dog could just be barking at the owner, not being able to make out who it is.

20:00 I WANT TO STRESS SOME VITAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INCIDENT: I did an ungodly amount of research into this topic about a year ago and there are a lot of things people should know about this, even if you're not too interested. This was a case of improper care and an assumption that he could be trained out of his wild nature... Travis WAS a calm and lovable chimp for many years. His caretaker had grown obsessed with owning a chimp herself after meeting one at some form of circus-like ranch, so she obtained one through a contact (I can only presume it was highly illegal). In her town he grew up to be the mascot and was loved by everyone, especially the police department. They even issued a law that would allow her to keep Travis in that town without facing animal cruelty lawsuits. HOWEVER, as he grew older and his caretaker and him grew more depressed with the more people in their lives that died, he wasn't taken cared of properly any more. He was spending his days watching tv and eating fast food which was mainly meat-based, and after a trip to (I think) Vegas he had been rather agitated so she had begun given him Xanax to calm him down. A side effect of this drug ranges from unnatural behaviour to loss of (impulse) control, two things that most likely were the side effects he garnered from it. -- There has been different claims about this saying the caretaker didn't have a prescription for it and so forth, but the toxicology report clearly stated that Xanax was found in his body. He also took medication for Lyme Disease -- Going back to the event, Travis had lashed out for seemingly no reason, and when the caretaker ran in to the house to get a knife she assumed he had already killed the friend (which he actually hadn't) and plunged the knife into his back THREE TIMES and hit him over the head with a shovel. Had he not been so massively overweight the stabbing would have at the very least slowed him down, but due to the circumstances it merely made him focus his anger even more. When she ran for cover in her car he continued mutilating the friend's face, having blood all over him and his mouth, before leaving the property as police arrived to the scene and heading to one of the police cars. He smashed one of the windows to get in and there the police shot him, after the shooting Travis retreated into the house again and was found dead next to his cage. Long story short he could have been confused about the friend's looks as she had had a new haircut and was holding his favourite toy, but the reason it got so out of hand was because the caretaker assumed she could own an illegal WILD animal and treat him as her own child without it ending badly. The saddest part was that she was more sad at the death of Travis that the fate of her friend, who luckily doesn't remember the attack at all.
That cynical commenter as someone who's currently taking standardized teachings and paid classes to become a dispatcher for my state. The reason he's a failure here is because he immediately failed at two things. He didn't ask for a name of the woman within 30 seconds, nor did he ask for an address. He bumbled on and vaguely said "what's going on?" And did not understand the woman. This may have been for a multitude of reasons in or out of his control. But he failed here. Sunni Flowers yeah but, and I know one shouldn’t do this because “what if’s” and such won’t change what happened. But it’s sad to think that maybe if that cheerleading event hadn’t happened that day she wouldn’t have been up early getting ready, she would still be in her room, shielded buy the walls, possibly saving her. It was just a horrible series of events that sadly cost an innocent child their life. But yeah I guess I agree, she had no way of knowing that was going to happen, she had no fear, only excitement and hopefully she was pretty out of it for the rest of the time so she didn’t have to suffer in pain.
"Fight like a warrior" the mom tho..
Chimps are fucking terrifying. They’ll go for the groin, the eyes, all that shit. They’ll pull your hair for fucks sake.

@@Trepidateousflesh this happens a lot, especially to children who don’t always realize that growls are warnings. It’s sad but it’s just instincts for the dogs...
They can smell their owner

20:00 I WANT TO STRESS SOME VITAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INCIDENT:
I did an ungodly amount of research into this topic about a year ago and there are a lot of things people should know about this, even if you're not too interested.
He also took medication for Lyme Disease --
Going back to the event, Travis had lashed out for seemingly no reason, and when the caretaker ran in to the house to get a knife she assumed he had already killed the friend (which he actually hadn't) and plunged the knife into his back THREE TIMES and hit him over the head with a shovel.
People should not be allowed to own wild animals as pets. Keep them in the wild and in zoos.

The 1st one, the dog is bothered by the big picture on the wall, and you'll notice every time he got close enough to see his reflection he barks and backs away. One of mine sees himself in things at times, too and does the same thing.
11:18 that has to be one of the worst positioned security cameras I've ever seen.
i think he probably cropped it so we couldn't see the actual murder
Remy Blas Weirder question why have a security camera inside your home?
@@greensocks5721 It's not that odd to have a security camera in your house, a lot of people have one. If for some reason shit starts going down, you're going to need some evidence for the police.
Erick Haman so that you can record disturbing things for nexpo to find and feature in his videos, of course

You know I feel bad but if she wouldn’t have had the monkey as a pet in the first place and given it those prescriptions then none of that would’ve happened. I have no pity for the owner of the monkey, monkeys are not pets and shouldn’t be treated as such.
@Zweigling it kind of is since lives depend on them taking things serous, their job is litteraly dependant on them answering crisis calls

I don't understand why so many are so upset about the 911 operator, like what's he supposed to do? Scream with her? Guys, 911 operator are specifically trained to do this so that 1) they could know whether or not the call is real and 2) try to calm the caller down while making them explain details that would be comprehensible. Like if you're a 911 operator and act like what y'all have been saying you'll be fired in a week.
