My theory on how the Raptor got out is that the other person or people who are still stuck on the island, heard a noise from the freezer while looking for other people and must have assumed someone might have gotten locked in and opened the door, unknowingly releasing the Raptor back to the park
Also because I feel like the idea of mercenaries willingly releasing the Raptor to kill off the protagonist seems like too much of a risky plan for anyone to want to do
In that case what happened to the fool who opened the fridge? The raptor didn’t kill them or they wouldn’t have been in the fridge still? And if the ran away after opening the fridge why would they leave it unlocked?
@cameronhermann9400 well there could be an answer for this. even though they're not as reptilian as once believed, my biggest Counterpoint would probably be that it was making noises while still being under the side effects of being locked in the freezer for an extended period of time. so I can imagine it makes noise, Someone opens the door, sees the Raptor, panics, and leaves without relocking the door.
@Joel0000101 Here's the thing, it doesn't even need to be Raptor noises it could be moving around, brushing against the wall, smacking things, and it wouldn't be that hard to assume that someone ran their to hide
Another really important possibility that's not mentioned at all, is that a lot of commercial freezers (and refrigerated areas) actually have two or more entrances. So even if the first entrance was literally dead-bolted shut, there's a good chance the other entrance is not. And while I didn't get crystal clear view of how the kitchen is set-up, it's also fairly common for freezer doors to be built big enough to move a pallet in and out of them. So if we're looking at a theme-park sized visitor center meant to cycle through a large volume of people, we can probably assume that the kitchen will be large enough to receive freight on pallets. The logical way for this to work is that the larger, pallet sized entrance to the freezer is linked to the shipping and receiving area of the facility. And the dinosaur could escape through that exit. And not through the smaller door that connects directly to the kitchen. Another fun side note, is that while the power may be out. Some of those bigger facilities have back-up generators which could keep the freezer online for a duration and could easily be fatal for the raptor. --- If we were going to write up some new canon for this event, I would speculate that the rear receiving entrance door to the freezer is open. Being left open by another survivor who saw a freezer as a safe place to hide, and tried to duck inside. And got killed either by something chasing them, or by running straight into the raptor in the freezer. Then the raptor just walks out. ============ Another theory is to reverse that. A survivor was trying to escape another dinosaur, and tried to run into the freezer to escape only to be ambushed by the raptor. If we operate under the assumption that the power is out, and the freezer is not powered, a raptor could probably live quite long in an unpowered freezer unit full of food. Although, if we're being rational again, that freezer will be 95% empty if there's no visitors and the park isn't open. They wouldn't ship food until about 2 weeks prior to opening.
Like the possibility of other doors, but wouldn’t explain how the kitchen door was now unlocked. Not sure how long it would take to kill the raptor, but it might not even need a generator with how well I’m assuming those would be insulated. Also on a side note (if I remember correctly, been a bit since I read the book) they were actually using the backup generators for most of the time and only realized it when the low fuel alarm went off.

This has cleared up 30 years of questions because I also remember looking back on that scene and working out the big one was the one in the freezer but always assumed for story telling, the big one was the one who attacked rexy 😯
I personally disagree with The Big One being the one in the freezer. My reason being is that when Lex and Tim are running from the kitchen, the raptor that’s watching them (which i think is the big one) is focused on a bit too much for it not to be. It just stares them down, with an almost crap-eating grin on it’s snout. I remember Muldoon saying something along the lines of: “it’s always watching, observing.” Which it does. Later on it goes on the attack, which is not really out of place for her. She did kill the worker in the beginning of the film after all. Besides, it didn’t have any supporting members with her. When Grant, Ellie and the kids are crawling in the ceiling, you can sense the gears turning in the creature’s head as it clearly understands what is going on above her. Also, i think the last raptor that The Rex kills is The Big One. Purely based on that it’s fitting that the big bad raptor dies last and puts up more of a fight. Anyway, great video! @@tanukitrooper5779 i chalk it up to the movie needing a grand finale. After all not every single thing is 100% consistent in terms of movies. But from a movie making perspective it makes the most sense that The Big One is last to die. Besides I’d be pretty underwhelming if it was her that got locked in the freezer. Im just going off visual clues and basic script writing to determine which one is The Big One. Personally i think it’s the last raptor to die, but there’s not a definitive way of saying which is really which.
This. Plus, I'm not sure why the video assumes that the one taking the lead in the kitchen hunt *has* to be the Big One, as she could just as easily be the beta of the group acting dominant to the omega in the alpha's absence.
7:41 I can shed some light on the freezer door here too. I worked with a lot of freezers with this type of door. It's a simple setup, but one that requires adjusting every so often. So on the wall you have a small arm going out with a wheel on the end that will let the handle "hook" onto it. This arm is solid and won't move, but the wheel is on a about 3-4 inches of steel track that can be easily adjusted with a flathead screwdriver. This allows for different thickness in doors when installed and such. The screw sitting in here is about 1 inch across. These bolts get loose after a few weeks of going in and out just from the door opening and closing. Now, once it's loose, and it only takes a little bit, the door will not stay closed, or if you wanted to, you could push it open without the handle needing to be moved. I will say, as I've read in some of the other comments, I have seen some freezers with the pin lock and it can keep it from being opened from the inside. I know this because me and a coworker tested it because we wanted to see, so it's a possibility that the pin wouldn't let it open. Also since it was in the 1990s, I'd hazard a guess as to how well regulated Costa Rica was at the time for some of these things, but then again, if Hammond really spared no expense...
I think the panic button is the most plausible explanation. However, the game footage shows that the pin is no longer in the handle, so that detail doesn't make sense.
By far the best and simplest explanation so far. One stipulation, is that it still doesn't explain how the pin was reset back outside of it being in the door handle. Maybe like another comment suggested, this could possibly be another freezer door that was still locked (without the pin) and the raptor escaped via emergency push button.

Thank you for that. Good explanation. I always thought the curtain raptor was the big one because when she came through the curtain, she "worked things out" as Mouldon said the big one does. I enjoyed the video though. In the book, the internal button on the freezer door was locked by the pin. Just saying.
According to the movie not the book there were actually at least five Velociraptors roaming the island not just the three that we saw on camera. Because if you remember right Alan Lex and Tim stumble crossed a Raptors nest that had already been hatched. Given the time frame of when everybody broke out the eggs could not have come from the original Three
Those are not raptor eggs they come across. Also, the movie specifies 3 Raptors. The book specifies more (including at least 2 young ones escaping on a boat).
I saw another easy to miss detail: The door that the kids locked has a window, the door in the trailer does not. And it's unlocked and already open. I think the Raptor tricked someone into opening the door, killed them and walked out.
We never know what happened to the boat crew who was suppose to pick up the the main villain with the Dino dna. Perhaps they went looking for him, went snooping
Will be good seeing how they explain the Freezer Raptor BUT...... weren't the eggs that Alan/Lex/Tim stumbled across in the wild Raptor eggs? There could be other Raptors out there that show up in the game (albeit likely juveniles).
Grant says the clutch of hatched eggs they found were Raptor eggs, so yeah, there must have been Raptors loose on the Island already, there wasnt enough time for the ones that escaped from the quarantine pen to have nested and laid eggs and the eggs have hatched. The whole point of the movie was they never really had control. The book has more detail on this that movie left out - the computers were programmed to only count the dino's they expected, they were worried about there being less than that number, they never considered they would breed, so they never looked for more. In the book I think there were over 20 Raptors loose on the Island unnaccounted for.

Hello new to the channel, great stuff & awesome theory, I can honestly see exactly how/why you came up with it. It is very sound, however I do remember seeing a video on another JPtuber's channel(Klayton Fioriti I believe) confirming via production staff on the film that the "big one" was actually the raptor Rexy flung off her side and into the T-rex skeleton at the end of the movie. I believe it was Phil Tippet himself who confirmed this discussing how they changed the end of the movie from what Spielberg originally had to the finish we have now.
Curious to why the pin would be dangling there… if the release leaver/button works from the inside like a safety mechanism if you’re locked inside and the raptor used it (which makes a lot of sense), why would the locking pin just be dangling there? Wouldn’t it still be in the lock?

I think it was Maya herself that unlocked it, trying to find a hiding place. But for some reason she gave up in the mid way.. maybe she heard a noise inside or smth.
Consider the pin is still on a chain so if the pin fell through the door then it would still have the chain in it, the push handle directly contacts the handle on the outside internally, we will find out who removed the pin

That is an interesting prediction, I am looking forward to this, for I have a theory that may not happen, but hear me out. In the Jurassic Park game by Telltale Games, Miles tells Nima that Dodgson will send a boat getaway contact for Miles and Nima to meet in the North dock. By the end of the game Gerry, Jessie, and Nima arrived at the dock the contact was not the escape boat, maybe the contact went to investigate the island, or maybe he or she was the one that opened the fridge. Yeah, I know the Telltale game is not 100% canon, it's soft canon. There is some lore info in the game that is accepted as canon and implemented in the films.
When exactly does the game take place? The storm makes it look like its the beginning of the dinos breaking out, but the raptor wasnt locked in the freezer til the storm subsided the next day when the skies were clear. Will survival show there being another storm right after everone escaped from the visitor center?
Your last theory is most likely correct but it doesn't explain one key factor. I've worked around those doors a lot and that emergency release does not remove the pin from the outside. So if that's how the Raptor got out we still need to wonder how the pin was removed
That is not jist a small detail that can be waived away, it outright debunks the emergency release theory. So it is not the most likely option, leaving a human removing the pin the most likely.

I gave the "Big One" a name...Sandy! So, it's Kim, Randy, and Sandy. Now, back to this video. I was told on Facebook that the Raptor who nipped at the other Raptor in the kitchen was Randy instead of Sandy. Instead, Sandy was meant to be the Raptor from the maintenance shed who surprised Ellie when she turned on the power to the park. That's just what I was told by Jurassic Park fans on Facebook. Don't shoot the messenger. In addition, Kim was upset after Grant had kicked her in the face. That's why she leaped up in an attempt to grab Lex's leg when the others pulled her up. I would be, too, if someone had kicked me in the face. Randy and Kim were being hunted by Muldoon. Now, whether it was Randy or Kim who pounced on Muldoon, I don't really know. Sometimes, I wish I could have been at Jurassic Park during the film's incident. If I heard a Raptor scratching on the freezer door, I would have unlocked the door and helped the animal out. Perhaps, someone else had the same idea and unlocked the freezer door for Randy to escape.

I like this theory that it could be the big one in the freezer it would make some sense to have another notable antagonist dinosaur besides Rexy during the events of this game especially a marketable one but I’d imagine they’ll add some slight retconning to claim she is the big one like a visual mark or a something like if the survivor finds notes on the Raptor Pack during her escape Also curious about if the telltale games will still be canon as there was a second raptor pack on the island unless it was the big one and her crew aswell as the Troodon
I like the theories here. I think other people on the island could make sense, Dodgson ended up with the Barbasol can somehow. Whether that's from our character or someone else on the island
couldn't that velociraptor just be one from smth like quarentine pens? just as what happened in jurassic park the game, or maybe its a velociraptor baby that was already growing before the nublar incident took place
Still wondering if this takes place the next day of jp1 , How the heck Big One survived one day or even half day in deep freezer with power back on in park . We saw tim slip on ice that was there in freezer so we can assume it’s got 0 or negative temperature in there . People opening the freezer wouldn’t make sense because the door opened when there was no one outside , if someone had opened door manually the mad raptor who was trapped in freezer would have furiously attacked them.
They are resilient. Plus the freezer was thawed out when Tim went in as everything was melting. It would take a few days for the temp to get back to where it was.
I can’t tell you how many times I have seen the OG movie and I never noticed that button on the inside of the fridge. Like as an adult you know they are there but I just have never noticed it but you are right. Wow.very cool.
Maybe the freezer was already empty when the survivor went in, all those noise surely the Raptor would notice it. It could be a hint that the next enemy stalker is a Velociraptor and also the possibility of another human entering the kitchen and noticing a noise within the freezer could be the reason for opening the latch.
I really hope that the raptor functions like the SA-X from Metroid Fusion, that it could be randomly encountered if you aren't lucky but also during some crucial story moments.
5:15 If we do, that will finally put to rest the "is the InGen boardroom deleted scene canon or not" debate, as settlements to only 3 victims' surviving family were mentioned. Then again, Nedry wasn't mentioned, but as you pointed out in another video, that could be because he forfeited any settlement as it was his actions that led to the park disaster.
my idea is that it was the ingen clean up team in 1994. They would have opened the door after hearing a noise from inside. The only thing about my idea that makes it false would be what time period the game is set in.

Heres one i wouldn't mind you diving into. Why would she take the exact path into the kitchen n mirror lex n tims movements almost perfectly? N why is she running n hiding from the dilophosaurus then later faces the rex head-on like a badass. Its almost like after they got a bunch of hate for trying to cancel operations they went to their CGI crew n were like we need you to make something we can feed to the masses to get them off our back. Just copy the kitchen scene n do something where she faces the rex. Oh n add 6 seconds of something that looks like gameplay to buy us time
I hope they do Resident Evil style dialogs, where you click on an object and a prompt and inner monologue pop up for us to read. If so, it would be a fantastic way to pay homage to the original novel. For example, clicking on Nedry's vehicle and corpse could read "I pray he had a quick death..."
Now that I'm thinking about it there was another raptor, earlier in the movie there was a scene were a baby raptor was born. Maybe this baby raptor grew to the point were it can help the other raptor trapped in the cold storage. Meaning there'd be 2 raptors now instead of just one. But your explanation also makes perfect sense and hoping you get back to me on this theory.
Even as a kid, I always assumed that if a velociraptor could break through the thick bars of the raptor paddock then one would be able slam the door hard enough to either snap the bolt holding the door close or jiggle said bolt loose through repeated impacts

I love it when dinosaurs attack human berings. You are correct in your theory, anything else would mean too much time, thus the raptor freezing to death. it had to escape on its own. fantastic execution of this video, keep that music it really sets the mood & your voice is haunting. Love it.
I think it was said in the film that the freezers were dead when they'd initially made it back to the visitors' center. That's why Hammond had brought ice cream out to share with Ellie, and why we see Tim and Lex happily scarfing down more of it when they all thought they were home free. It was already starting to melt as the freezers thawed, and thus there was no reason _not_ to eat it. Unless there was some backup generator that hadn't yet kicked in, the raptor in the walk-in might be a little cold, but it would probably hit general room temperature before too long. Honestly, the thing I always wonder about is "Aren't those walk-in coolers supposed to be almost air-tight? Just like household fridges/freezers, which are always a danger to get caught in?" Like, yes, it's a larger space, but how does the raptor not suffocate if she's in there for a few hours, let alone multiple days?
I feel like there are three schools of thought for which Raptor is the big one. The script says the bunker/curtain Raptor is the big one, so that’s one school of thought. The second school of thought is that the one who killed Muldoon and gave Rexy her scars is the big one which makes thematic since as well as her being the second Raptor to enter the kitchen cuz the first Raptor would’ve called her and then when she snaps, the second Raptor gets into a kill position and definitely would’ve killed the first kitchen Raptor had they not been on the hunt. The third school of thought is the first kitchen Raptor is the big one as you’ve explained. Personally, I’m the second school of thought due to the thematic element of the unsung hero killing the primary named dinosaur antagonist
I would REALLY love a Site B game, since in my opinion, would be pretty cool, because of the expansive map, and would maybe even elaborate on things that were missed in Jurassic Park 3, and the Lost World. (Such as the Spinosaurus, and the future of the Baby T-rex.) No clue when it would start, but probably after the Lost World, and before Jurassic Park 3. (Probably 1999.)
in my theory someone else, for example another worker was going to the kitchen from the isolated lab which could have noise proof walls, explaining why they didnt hear the dinosaurs and the panic. the worker would have wandered off the lab room to the main room, where the worker would have seen the dinosaurs ruled the earth flag, ans broken down skeletons. walking to the dining room right before the game protagonist and seeing the food uneaten, as if someone left in a hurry (which would be Lex and Tim) then the worker walks to the kitchen and sees the door locked, wondering why it is locked but without thinking opening the door, because it is supposed to be unlocked. them leaves without looking what was in the freezer room. which now could explain why there was no lock on the freezer door anymore. this is just my theory and how the door could have been opened. then the protagonist would enter the kitchen and because the door was unlocked couple mins ago, the raptor opens the door once the protagonist leaves
It's simple how it got out, it simply pushed the door open all considering industrial walking in freezers and fridges has two fail safes in the doors. The first one is there is a turn nob on the inside that you can turn to open it from the inside even if it is locked from the outside. The second one is that you can push on the door with a little bit of extra force and it will open just incase you can't reach the handle aka slipped and fell and can't stand to reach the knob or if the knob is damaged in any way as to not let you turn it. These are there so you can't be locked in and freeze to death or if the power is turned off you don't cook in it as they do turn into a oven after a few hours without any power.

I have to say that I would like to see the freezer door demonstrated in real life with a facade of course for safety reasons because I do not believe that that pin would be hanging from the handle even if the emergency switch was pushed to released the raptor, of course I don't know how that emergency release button works to be able to push the pin out. In theory it would take a human force to pull the pin straight up or if the chain doesn't break it could have been another raptor to release that raptor as we saw from Jurassic Park 3 the raptors could call for help and the scene just before the kids are running out of the kitchen you can clearly hear the raptor calling for help. I do have another theory that maybe after banging into the door enough times the pin did wiggle free to release the raptor and then it did figure out that you could push the emergency button to release itself as it would have not been able to get its claws on the handle to open the door. I feel that the developers overlooked the mistake on this freezer door handle scene because in the scene with the T-Rex you can see that our protagonist after running out the emergency exit she runs through the woods thinking that she is still being chased by the dilophosaurus and ends up running right into the dilophosaurus then turns around as seen and runs the other direction because of fear and thenbrunning out of the park through the main gate which is facing the wrong direction,therefore they also overlooked that the main gate is facing the wrong direction as you can see in the movie that the visitor centers is outside the main gate which is left to the main pound. I also do want to point out that there is a mistake with the beginning scene of the game trailer with the touring Jeep having its lights on and you can clearly see one of the dinosaurs hit the door of the touring Jeep and the door does not fully closed and stays open afterwards, in reality that door would have closed and stayed closed and the lights would have been out because of the battery being dead. Your human theory does make sense a little bit as in the dilophosaurus scene where she is radioing for help you can hear that there is a small but unclear radio transmission as if the character is in range but not in range enough of somebody else on the Island, in the movie we do see a brief scene with Gerry Harding park ranger taking care of the sick triceratops and Ellie one of our main characters decides to stay behind to help Gerry take care of the triceratops but as far as the director or studio cares we don't see any scene of Ellie being taken back by Gerry to meet up with John Hammond camera of course to make the movie shorter some things have to be cut out. we realy don't see Gerry again assuming that he evacuated with everybody else or he is in theory still alive on the island with this new doctor that was left behind that we never seen in the movie because we know for a fact that movie productions want to keep the movie short for audience enjoyment and also some scenes are really not necessary. So my final question where is Gerry and where was this doctor hiding when all this chaos went down because it's shown in the movie that the research center is within or off the visitor center.
That doesn’t explain why the pin was hanging out of the door latch in the trailer. When Lex and Tim put the pin in during the movie, it’s clear that it’s all the way through the lock. But in the trailer you see the pin hanging down in front of the lock when the door opens. I’m not denying the emergency release from the inside, but that doesn’t explain how the pin got pulled and is hanging. The emergency release like you said would just open the door. So it would not kick the pin out of the outside lock like it was.
Imagine the one to open the freezer be dr wu though i don’t know if that’s accurate also I don’t know if comparing a jurassic park game to a Alien game is the best thing to do since Alien is sci-fi horror while jurassic park is sci-fi horror and “adventure/action” but idk I’m just excited to see how this game is gonna be can’t wait
There's one issue with the last theory, the pin is already shown to be out in the trailer, dangling down. If the Raptor pushed the button, it wouldn't have removed the pin from the lock. As for the human, I don't think they'd have just left it unlocked after they saw what was inside. My theory, and I'm surprised you didn't bring this one up, was that after everyone escaped the kitchen, the third raptor that shows up late most likely picked up the big one's scent and tracked it into the fridge. We know they're smart enough to figure out problem solving, so it probably figured out after a few tries to remove the pin from the latch and open up the door for the big girl before going and helping the other raptor out in the lobby.

Oscar the raptor in that freezer is dead. Unlike the raptors in the real world these ones have scales not feathers . This means hypothermia and frostbite will occur. Frost.
Bite is more lethal than hypothermia. As it is basically a severe it is a 4degree burn. Which causes necrosis . This results in imputations

My theory on how the Raptor got out is that the other person or people who are still stuck on the island, heard a noise from the freezer while looking for other people and must have assumed someone might have gotten locked in and opened the door, unknowingly releasing the Raptor back to the park
Also because I feel like the idea of mercenaries willingly releasing the Raptor to kill off the protagonist seems like too much of a risky plan for anyone to want to do
In that case what happened to the fool who opened the fridge? The raptor didn’t kill them or they wouldn’t have been in the fridge still? And if the ran away after opening the fridge why would they leave it unlocked?
@cameronhermann9400 well there could be an answer for this. even though they're not as reptilian as once believed, my biggest Counterpoint would probably be that it was making noises while still being under the side effects of being locked in the freezer for an extended period of time. so I can imagine it makes noise, Someone opens the door, sees the Raptor, panics, and leaves without relocking the door.
Idk, to me it seems like the raptor would make to many wrong noises for someone to think that it was a human once they got close enough to the door.
@Joel0000101 Here's the thing, it doesn't even need to be Raptor noises it could be moving around, brushing against the wall, smacking things, and it wouldn't be that hard to assume that someone ran their to hide
Another really important possibility that's not mentioned at all, is that a lot of commercial freezers (and refrigerated areas) actually have two or more entrances.
So even if the first entrance was literally dead-bolted shut, there's a good chance the other entrance is not.
And while I didn't get crystal clear view of how the kitchen is set-up, it's also fairly common for freezer doors to be built big enough to move a pallet in and out of them.
So if we're looking at a theme-park sized visitor center meant to cycle through a large volume of people, we can probably assume that the kitchen will be large enough to receive freight on pallets. The logical way for this to work is that the larger, pallet sized entrance to the freezer is linked to the shipping and receiving area of the facility. And the dinosaur could escape through that exit. And not through the smaller door that connects directly to the kitchen.
Another fun side note, is that while the power may be out. Some of those bigger facilities have back-up generators which could keep the freezer online for a duration and could easily be fatal for the raptor.

If we were going to write up some new canon for this event, I would speculate that the rear receiving entrance door to the freezer is open. Being left open by another survivor who saw a freezer as a safe place to hide, and tried to duck inside. And got killed either by something chasing them, or by running straight into the raptor in the freezer.
Then the raptor just walks out.

Another theory is to reverse that. A survivor was trying to escape another dinosaur, and tried to run into the freezer to escape only to be ambushed by the raptor.
If we operate under the assumption that the power is out, and the freezer is not powered, a raptor could probably live quite long in an unpowered freezer unit full of food.
Although, if we're being rational again, that freezer will be 95% empty if there's no visitors and the park isn't open. They wouldn't ship food until about 2 weeks prior to opening.

Like the possibility of other doors, but wouldn’t explain how the kitchen door was now unlocked. Not sure how long it would take to kill the raptor, but it might not even need a generator with how well I’m assuming those would be insulated. Also on a side note (if I remember correctly, been a bit since I read the book) they were actually using the backup generators for most of the time and only realized it when the low fuel alarm went off.

This has cleared up 30 years of questions because I also remember looking back on that scene and working out the big one was the one in the freezer but always assumed for story telling, the big one was the one who attacked rexy 😯
I personally disagree with The Big One being the one in the freezer.
My reason being is that when Lex and Tim are running from the kitchen, the raptor that’s watching them (which i think is the big one) is focused on a bit too much for it not to be. It just stares them down, with an almost crap-eating grin on it’s snout.
I remember Muldoon saying something along the lines of: “it’s always watching, observing.” Which it does. Later on it goes on the attack, which is not really out of place for her. She did kill the worker in the beginning of the film after all. Besides, it didn’t have any supporting members with her.
When Grant, Ellie and the kids are crawling in the ceiling, you can sense the gears turning in the creature’s head as it clearly understands what is going on above her.
Also, i think the last raptor that The Rex kills is The Big One. Purely based on that it’s fitting that the big bad raptor dies last and puts up more of a fight.

But from a movie making perspective it makes the most sense that The Big One is last to die. Besides I’d be pretty underwhelming if it was her that got locked in the freezer.
Im just going off visual clues and basic script writing to determine which one is The Big One. Personally i think it’s the last raptor to die, but there’s not a definitive way of saying which is really which.

7:41 I can shed some light on the freezer door here too. I worked with a lot of freezers with this type of door. It's a simple setup, but one that requires adjusting every so often. So on the wall you have a small arm going out with a wheel on the end that will let the handle "hook" onto it. This arm is solid and won't move, but the wheel is on a about 3-4 inches of steel track that can be easily adjusted with a flathead screwdriver. This allows for different thickness in doors when installed and such. The screw sitting in here is about 1 inch across. These bolts get loose after a few weeks of going in and out just from the door opening and closing. Now, once it's loose, and it only takes a little bit, the door will not stay closed, or if you wanted to, you could push it open without the handle needing to be moved. I will say, as I've read in some of the other comments, I have seen some freezers with the pin lock and it can keep it from being opened from the inside. I know this because me and a coworker tested it because we wanted to see, so it's a possibility that the pin wouldn't let it open. Also since it was in the 1990s, I'd hazard a guess as to how well regulated Costa Rica was at the time for some of these things, but then again, if Hammond really spared no expense...
I think the panic button is the most plausible explanation. However, the game footage shows that the pin is no longer in the handle, so that detail doesn't make sense.
By far the best and simplest explanation so far. One stipulation, is that it still doesn't explain how the pin was reset back outside of it being in the door handle. Maybe like another comment suggested, this could possibly be another freezer door that was still locked (without the pin) and the raptor escaped via emergency push button.

I enjoyed the video though. In the book, the internal button on the freezer door was locked by the pin. Just saying.
According to the movie not the book there were actually at least five Velociraptors roaming the island not just the three that we saw on camera. Because if you remember right Alan Lex and Tim stumble crossed a Raptors nest that had already been hatched. Given the time frame of when everybody broke out the eggs could not have come from the original Three

I saw another easy to miss detail: The door that the kids locked has a window, the door in the trailer does not. And it's unlocked and already open. I think the Raptor tricked someone into opening the door, killed them and walked out.

Grant says the clutch of hatched eggs they found were Raptor eggs, so yeah, there must have been Raptors loose on the Island already, there wasnt enough time for the ones that escaped from the quarantine pen to have nested and laid eggs and the eggs have hatched.
The whole point of the movie was they never really had control.
The book has more detail on this that movie left out - the computers were programmed to only count the dino's they expected, they were worried about there being less than that number, they never considered they would breed, so they never looked for more.
In the book I think there were over 20 Raptors loose on the Island unnaccounted for.

Hello new to the channel, great stuff & awesome theory, I can honestly see exactly how/why you came up with it. It is very sound, however I do remember seeing a video on another JPtuber's channel(Klayton Fioriti I believe) confirming via production staff on the film that the "big one" was actually the raptor Rexy flung off her side and into the T-rex skeleton at the end of the movie. I believe it was Phil Tippet himself who confirmed this discussing how they changed the end of the movie from what Spielberg originally had to the finish we have now.

I think it was Maya herself that unlocked it, trying to find a hiding place. But for some reason she gave up in the mid way.. maybe she heard a noise inside or smth.
Consider the pin is still on a chain so if the pin fell through the door then it would still have the chain in it, the push handle directly contacts the handle on the outside internally, we will find out who removed the pin

That is an interesting prediction, I am looking forward to this, for I have a theory that may not happen, but hear me out. In the Jurassic Park game by Telltale Games, Miles tells Nima that Dodgson will send a boat getaway contact for Miles and Nima to meet in the North dock. By the end of the game Gerry, Jessie, and Nima arrived at the dock the contact was not the escape boat, maybe the contact went to investigate the island, or maybe he or she was the one that opened the fridge. Yeah, I know the Telltale game is not 100% canon, it's soft canon. There is some lore info in the game that is accepted as canon and implemented in the films.
When exactly does the game take place? The storm makes it look like its the beginning of the dinos breaking out, but the raptor wasnt locked in the freezer til the storm subsided the next day when the skies were clear. Will survival show there being another storm right after everone escaped from the visitor center?

Your last theory is most likely correct but it doesn't explain one key factor. I've worked around those doors a lot and that emergency release does not remove the pin from the outside. So if that's how the Raptor got out we still need to wonder how the pin was removed

I gave the "Big One" a name...Sandy! So, it's Kim, Randy, and Sandy. Now, back to this video.
I was told on Facebook that the Raptor who nipped at the other Raptor in the kitchen was Randy instead of Sandy. Instead, Sandy was meant to be the Raptor from the maintenance shed who surprised Ellie when she turned on the power to the park. That's just what I was told by Jurassic Park fans on Facebook. Don't shoot the messenger.
In addition, Kim was upset after Grant had kicked her in the face. That's why she leaped up in an attempt to grab Lex's leg when the others pulled her up. I would be, too, if someone had kicked me in the face.
Randy and Kim were being hunted by Muldoon. Now, whether it was Randy or Kim who pounced on Muldoon, I don't really know.
Sometimes, I wish I could have been at Jurassic Park during the film's incident. If I heard a Raptor scratching on the freezer door, I would have unlocked the door and helped the animal out. Perhaps, someone else had the same idea and unlocked the freezer door for Randy to escape.

I like this theory that it could be the big one in the freezer it would make some sense to have another notable antagonist dinosaur besides Rexy during the events of this game especially a marketable one but I’d imagine they’ll add some slight retconning to claim she is the big one like a visual mark or a something like if the survivor finds notes on the Raptor Pack during her escape

Still wondering if this takes place the next day of jp1 , How the heck Big One survived one day or even half day in deep freezer with power back on in park . We saw tim slip on ice that was there in freezer so we can assume it’s got 0 or negative temperature in there . People opening the freezer wouldn’t make sense because the door opened when there was no one outside , if someone had opened door manually the mad raptor who was trapped in freezer would have furiously attacked them.
They are resilient. Plus the freezer was thawed out when Tim went in as everything was melting. It would take a few days for the temp to get back to where it was.

I can’t tell you how many times I have seen the OG movie and I never noticed that button on the inside of the fridge. Like as an adult you know they are there but I just have never noticed it but you are right. Wow.very cool.
Maybe the freezer was already empty when the survivor went in, all those noise surely the Raptor would notice it. It could be a hint that the next enemy stalker is a Velociraptor and also the possibility of another human entering the kitchen and noticing a noise within the freezer could be the reason for opening the latch.
I really hope that the raptor functions like the SA-X from Metroid Fusion, that it could be randomly encountered if you aren't lucky but also during some crucial story moments.

Heres one i wouldn't mind you diving into. Why would she take the exact path into the kitchen n mirror lex n tims movements almost perfectly? N why is she running n hiding from the dilophosaurus then later faces the rex head-on like a badass. Its almost like after they got a bunch of hate for trying to cancel operations they went to their CGI crew n were like we need you to make something we can feed to the masses to get them off our back. Just copy the kitchen scene n do something where she faces the rex. Oh n add 6 seconds of something that looks like gameplay to buy us time
I hope they do Resident Evil style dialogs, where you click on an object and a prompt and inner monologue pop up for us to read.
If so, it would be a fantastic way to pay homage to the original novel. For example, clicking on Nedry's vehicle and corpse could read "I pray he had a quick death..."

Now that I'm thinking about it there was another raptor, earlier in the movie there was a scene were a baby raptor was born. Maybe this baby raptor grew to the point were it can help the other raptor trapped in the cold storage. Meaning there'd be 2 raptors now instead of just one. Even as a kid, I always assumed that if a velociraptor could break through the thick bars of the raptor paddock then one would be able slam the door hard enough to either snap the bolt holding the door close or jiggle said bolt loose through repeated impacts

I think it was said in the film that the freezers were dead when they'd initially made it back to the visitors' center. That's why Hammond had brought ice cream out to share with Ellie, and why we see Tim and Lex happily scarfing down more of it when they all thought they were home free. It was already starting to melt as the freezers thawed, and thus there was no reason _not_ to eat it. Unless there was some backup generator that hadn't yet kicked in, the raptor in the walk-in might be a little cold, but it would probably hit general room temperature before too long.
Honestly, the thing I always wonder about is "Aren't those walk-in coolers supposed to be almost air-tight? Just like household fridges/freezers, which are always a danger to get caught in?" Like, yes, it's a larger space, but how does the raptor not suffocate if she's in there for a few hours, let alone multiple days?

I feel like there are three schools of thought for which Raptor is the big one. The script says the bunker/curtain Raptor is the big one, so that’s one school of thought. The second school of thought is that the one who killed Muldoon and gave Rexy her scars is the big one which makes thematic since as well as her being the second Raptor to enter the kitchen cuz the first Raptor would’ve called her and then when she snaps, the second Raptor gets into a kill position and definitely would’ve killed the first kitchen Raptor had they not been on the hunt. The third school of thought is the first kitchen Raptor is the big one as you’ve explained. Personally, I’m the second school of thought due to the thematic element of the unsung hero killing the primary named dinosaur antagonist
I would REALLY love a Site B game, since in my opinion, would be pretty cool, because of the expansive map, and would maybe even elaborate on things that were missed in Jurassic Park 3, and the Lost World. (Such as the Spinosaurus, and the future of the Baby T-rex.) No clue when it would start, but probably after the Lost World, and before Jurassic Park 3. (Probably 1999.)

in my theory someone else, for example another worker was going to the kitchen from the isolated lab which could have noise proof walls, explaining why they didnt hear the dinosaurs and the panic. the worker would have wandered off the lab room to the main room, where the worker would have seen the dinosaurs ruled the earth flag, ans broken down skeletons. walking to the dining room right before the game protagonist and seeing the food uneaten, as if someone left in a hurry (which would be Lex and Tim) then the worker walks to the kitchen and sees the door locked, wondering why it is locked but without thinking opening the door, because it is supposed to be unlocked. them leaves without looking what was in the freezer room. which now could explain why there was no lock on the freezer door anymore. this is just my theory and how the door could have been opened. then the protagonist would enter the kitchen and because the door was unlocked couple mins ago, the raptor opens the door once the protagonist leaves
It's simple how it got out, it simply pushed the door open all considering industrial walking in freezers and fridges has two fail safes in the doors. The first one is there is a turn nob on the inside that you can turn to open it from the inside even if it is locked from the outside. The second one is that you can push on the door with a little bit of extra force and it will open just incase you can't reach the handle aka slipped and fell and can't stand to reach the knob or if the knob is damaged in any way as to not let you turn it. These are there so you can't be locked in and freeze to death or if the power is turned off you don't cook in it as they do turn into a oven after a few hours without any power.

I have to say that I would like to see the freezer door demonstrated in real life with a facade of course for safety reasons because I do not believe that that pin would be hanging from the handle even if the emergency switch was pushed to released the raptor, of course I don't know how that emergency release button works to be able to push the pin out.
In theory it would take a human force to pull the pin straight up or if the chain doesn't break it could have been another raptor to release that raptor as we saw from Jurassic Park 3 the raptors could call for help and the scene just before the kids are running out of the kitchen you can clearly hear the raptor calling for help.
I do have another theory that maybe after banging into the door enough times the pin did wiggle free to release the raptor and then it did figure out that you could push the emergency button to release itself as it would have not been able to get its claws on the handle to open the door.
I feel that the developers overlooked the mistake on this freezer door handle scene because in the scene with the T-Rex you can see that our protagonist after running out the emergency exit she runs through the woods thinking that she is still being chased by the dilophosaurus and ends up running right into the dilophosaurus then turns around as seen and runs the other direction because of fear and thenbrunning out of the park through the main gate which is facing the wrong direction,therefore they also overlooked that the main gate is facing the wrong direction as you can see in the movie that the visitor centers is outside the main gate which is left to the main pound.
I also do want to point out that there is a mistake with the beginning scene of the game trailer with the touring Jeep having its lights on and you can clearly see one of the dinosaurs hit the door of the touring Jeep and the door does not fully closed and stays open afterwards, in reality that door would have closed and stayed closed and the lights would have been out because of the battery being dead.
Your human theory does make sense a little bit as in the dilophosaurus scene where she is radioing for help you can hear that there is a small but unclear radio transmission as if the character is in range but not in range enough of somebody else on the Island, in the movie we do see a brief scene with Gerry Harding park ranger taking care of the sick triceratops and Ellie one of our main characters decides to stay behind to help Gerry take care of the triceratops but as far as the director or studio cares we don't see any scene of Ellie being taken back by Gerry to meet up with John Hammond camera of course to make the movie shorter some things have to be cut out.
we realy don't see Gerry again assuming that he evacuated with everybody else or he is in theory still alive on the island with this new doctor that was left behind that we never seen in the movie because we know for a fact that movie productions want to keep the movie short for audience enjoyment and also some scenes are really not necessary.
So my final question where is Gerry and where was this doctor hiding when all this chaos went down because it's shown in the movie that the research center is within or off the visitor center.
That doesn’t explain why the pin was hanging out of the door latch in the trailer. When Lex and Tim put the pin in during the movie, it’s clear that it’s all the way through the lock. But in the trailer you see the pin hanging down in front of the lock when the door opens. I’m not denying the emergency release from the inside, but that doesn’t explain how the pin got pulled and is hanging. The emergency release like you said would just open the door. So it would not kick the pin out of the outside lock like it was.

There's one issue with the last theory, the pin is already shown to be out in the trailer, dangling down. If the Raptor pushed the button, it wouldn't have removed the pin from the lock. As for the human, I don't think they'd have just left it unlocked after they saw what was inside. My theory, and I'm surprised you didn't bring this one up, was that after everyone escaped the kitchen, the third raptor that shows up late most likely picked up the big one's scent and tracked it into the fridge. We know they're smart enough to figure out problem solving, so it probably figured out after a few tries to remove the pin from the latch and open up the door for the big girl before going and helping the other raptor out in the lobby.
I use trespasser as evidence that there are ways to make the story without any living humans in it.
