My plants have played a major role in my wellness practice...Blooms bring me extra joy. I must've been a good girl this year, because some of these have already bloomed multiple times this year...and one hasn't stopped blooming since her first set.

Today we are walking through my blooming plants and I'm sharing what I think is helping these badboys bloom. Hands down, I think blooming plants are taking up extra water and resources to have enough energy to push out those blooms, so I think the extra water has played a major role in their bloom-a-thon.

Watching now, Yvette!.....
I love the title and the blooms!
Thanks!! I borrowed it from someone else, but thought it might be fun during this time. I needed some wonderment this week.
@yvetteboonecreates good choice 👌🏽
I wouldn't keep grow lights on for more than 16 hours max, to give the plants 8 hours of rest. I haven't had African Violets for 30 years, because I killed so many. I love them from a distance. 😁 I love how full and lush your Hoyas are! 😍
Thanks. Yeah I got some long-distance love plants myself.
Hi Yvette. Ugh! Other than the constantly blooming multiflora, my only blooming hoya has been the mendorensis. As far as the african violets go, they hate me! Its been 35 years trying to grow them things, books, internet, UA-cam! Yours are beautiful. I purchased a small pink/white this week so hopefully it will surprise me! You're right about the watering. Many have said to let the hoyas dry out because they don't like being wet! After 7 & 1/2 years collecting hoyas, untrue. Hoyas can get dry rot and never let the leaves wrinkle or get soft. Even if they are firm, if the roots are totally dry give it just less water than what you would give if leaves were soft. Mine are mostly in leca and glass pots so that i could keep my eye on the roots. The type of substrate also makes a big difference on how long the soil will stay moist. I'm envying your blooms but I'm patient since I love the foliage first. Thanks for sharing Yvette. Dee, NY
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dee....I'm glad I'm not alone when it comes to y sentiment about watering hoyas. Of course not all hoyas are the same, but that's the point right...not all hoyas are the same. All the ones I have will only tolerate dry spells, but they don't grow or bloom well.
I've got my fingers crossed on your African violet doing well. If it's in a self-watering pot, I think you stand a great chance of keeping it alive and well. Are you growing your AV's in leca?
@@yvetteboonecreates I tried back in March after watching The Leca Queen (Nora in Australia) on UA-cam and my AV died within the week. She grows everything in leca. Since the one I just purchased is small, I'll leave till it gets more established and see.
@@deemari577 Her moss pole plants are #plantGoals ❣. Yeah, as much as I love the idea of leca, I haven't had much success with anything growing in leca, although I did have an orchid growing in leca for 5 years (I guess that counts).
I love your bloomers! They are beautiful. I appreciate the tips you shared.
Write! Those Hoyas are off and running!
Yes they are Rachael! I'm so excited.
Hey there!! Just dropped in to say hello to you, with your pleasant and funny self! 🥰🥰
Hey D 🙋🏽♀️
Hi Yvette. I find so much enjoyment , spending time with my plant babies. Many days have they saved my family .😂 I find myself getting frustrated, and I spend some time with my plant babies.
Linda, my plants know all the family secrets. Man I'm sure they are sick of me, but they keep hanging on in there. 🤣
Your plants and blooms are beautiful; my African violets are also in bloom…
Don't you just love them? They are definitely underrated.
Awwhhh, the babies!
Very beautiful and healthy plants 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👌👌👌 a big like with subscribe 👍✅
Thank you and welcome to the community. Don't be a stranger in them comments Luv.
Bed head 😅 Love your sense of humor and beautiful smile. You always bring joy to a planty video. God bless your spirit 🫶🪴
So nice of you 🤗 Maya. I'm so glad to hear that.
Thanks for this, Yvette! 🙏🏿 There's something healing about connecting to the earth. Seeing plants bloom or even sprout a new leaf feels like a metaphor for our own lives.
Love your African violets! I have to see if there are some here in town.
I didn't know about the "mother leaf!"
Nicole, yes, they are the gift that keeps on giving. I have to stop myself from propagating them. If you can find one get it, and a self-watering pot...it's a game changer.
@@yvetteboonecreates BET! I'll be on the look out.
Thank you Yvette! ❤
You are so welcome Canissia!
Hi Yvette, Love all the blooms ! ❤
Thanks Jackie....they are bringing me so much joy this month.
🪴Happy Planting🌿
Same to you Ms Lady June💚
Hey Yvette 👋🏼
Hey Mona🙋🏽♀️. How are you Sis?
Love your videos!! Will you share what you feed your Hoya? Thanks!
Of course Shirley!! I feed all my plants a very watered down solution of Liquid Dirt and Schlutz All Purpose plant food (10-15-10). This is an affiliate link for the Liqui-dirt (amzn.to/44DqbTe)
Thank you so much!!
Let me know if you try it. I also like the Superthrive.
My African violet is blooming too. It has purple and white flowers. They have more purple. And you are right about Hoyas. I have one that is thirstier than others and one that can get extremely dry and not even show it
Just curious, are you fertilizing your African Violet? I'm trying to figure out why mine is changing color like she is.
@yvetteboonecreates I put all of mine into miracle gro potting soil. I mix a bag of houseplant soil, a bag of cactus soil, and a bag of perlite. It drains well, and it fertilizes them for 6 months, so yeah, it's getting fertilizer. I put all my plants in the same soil. I tell you this...that African violet likes a lot of light. It sits right under the grow light. I've always seen them as such delicate plants but I only bottom water it.
Yeah, I think that's the tip to share. Fertilize them!! I guess I don't think about it cause I fertilize all my plants a watered down solution all year long, but AV's love to be fertilized.
Your African Violets look beautiful!❤ can you do a video on them?
I sure can, although I think you've seen 2 out of 3 of them...the other is rather cute and I'm sure her blooms are working to spring anytime now. I do want to repot them and I'm aching to get some miniatures. I've been restraining myself for over a year already.
@@yvetteboonecreates I would love to see how you repot new ones and how you keep them after. I have lost 3 after repotting and can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
Yeah, let me see what I can do. Are you using AV soil?
@yvetteboonecreates yes and I also added perlite. It just crown rotted out of no where cause I had not watered it. Not sure what happened .🤷♀️
