Oh dang you're in Titusville! I'm in PSJ, just ordered these today for my 74 Super. You're not the first person I've heard say they are jetted a little high for a 1600. I think I'm going to proactively order a smaller set of jets because mine is also a 1600DP.

I put a set on a bus that I helped a buddy put a scat motor in, I was impressed with how close they were out of the box.
That's awesome that they were pretty close out of the box.. that is soooooo rare!! Awesome!
Those are actually good carbs as long as you clean them out before installing them. I know several people running those without issue including on a 2.0+ bus and gets great performance and Milage.

I have the same 1s and had them for 2 years now and they're great. I synced them once and added a a return spring from where the throttle cable connects to my decklid bracket and works great.
Good move on the extra spring at the throttle cable... good job!!
@@JWClassicVW yea the bracket that holds the barrel nut has like 4 holes in it so I hooked from there to the decklid bracket and it works great. 👍
I like using clamps made for fuel injection hoses.
When I built the bus motor , I put a W100 cam and did a home made D - ports on Intakes , damn near cut into the intake spring bosses ? I have a 34-3 and I think I need those. The bus is a 71 and gots a lot of room on both sides I cut the old filter pedestal off already. There is a bridge here called the JFK and I get going 75 when I hit the bridge and at the top I am going 52. Not enough hp . but on the other side of bridge BONZIA

Hi Matt, What did you do with the crankcase vent?
I had a breather box on the firewall. Two hoses to the valve covers, one to the oil filter/ gen tower.
I am looking to get a set of those. Do you know if they will fit with the wide stile fan shroud.
A friend had a set of single port ICT's on a stock fan shroud with the heater ducts. It was a tight fit, but it did fit. If it were me I would skip the hassle and install a 36hp style should at the same time as installing the carbs. Also the empi kit comes jetted way rich on the main jets for a 1600, swap them out with some 130's before you install the carbs to make life easier if you have a stocker. hopefully you find this information useful.
