Having just upgraded from E-120s to K-120s I will tell you they are not the same. Jerry used Ks and the second I plugged them in it was exactly what I thought my rig was missing. Es get the sound but not in the same way, especially at lower volumes. But they're double the cost so Es are the affordable option. Nice Rig!!!!

I got a e120 and a quilter 101 and and superblock and I use a ehx soul food and a always on to emulate a pushed twin reverb and I love it . I'm getting my phred wolph delivered tomorrow and im very excited. I love my tone right now . Thanks davvy for getting me started on this journey ✌️

Hey Davvy! Thanks for the rundown man! Loved seeing it. I'm considering buying a Vox AC15c1 as my first tube amp, trying to get Jerry inspired (amongst others) tones from a strat and a couple of semi-hollow humbucker guitars. Any thoughts on the amp at all? Fare thee well!

Davvy, if you can find some E120's that need reconing, its not as hard as you think it is. I did my two E120's. I also put baskets on two Peavey black widows which are a similar sounding speaker if you can find the aluminum dome'd 1201's.

So I just bought the Smokin' Amp envelope filter based on your review...then I see you don't use it on your board. What's up with that? What do you like better about the Proton?
It’s not about liking them better. I’ve used quite a few envelope filters. Micro Qtron, Micro V, Microtron IV and now the proton. They all have their pros and cons. The proton is just what I’m using right now.
@@TobyDavvy cool enough-thanks for quick response. There are so many of these pedals, it is a bit overwhelming to sort through them all. I have the Keeley Neutrino v2. Close. The Phonkify - close. I am trying to avoid too many more missteps. Would you be able to elaborate with a quick list the pros/cons of the Proton vs the Smokin Amp? I do like (at least in principle) the version of the Smokin' Amp I bought has a blend to balance wet/dry.
Birdie is a sweet sounding one. You gotta explain that gorilla tape on the back though.
Easy explanation, the custom backplate I made broke during a show and that was the fast fix.
