Today I'm going to share the best strategies to stop overeating.
Overeating creates strain on your digestive system. One of the best ways to stop overeating is to get rid of your appetite and cravings. The way to do that is to get on the Healthy Keto® diet and do intermittent fasting.
When you do Healthy Keto, you’re consuming high-quality, nutrient-dense foods that satisfy the body. On the healthy version of the ketogenic diet, you’re also consuming low-carb foods, which help reduce hunger in-between meals.
When you do intermittent fasting, your stomach changes because you’re not eating as frequently-the amount of food you eat is going to be less, but it will be a lot more satisfying.
Many different things can cause cravings. You never want to ask what you’re in the mood to eat. Instead, it’s important to be in tune with your body and ask yourself what you should eat to make your body healthier.
There are also many different things that can lead to overeating. For example, certain restaurants have portions that are way too big. We also have hunger hormones that increase appetite and are triggered by various things.
    Top triggers of hunger hormones:
    • Lack of sleep
    • Stress
    • Refined carbs
    • Large amounts of protein
    • MSG
    • Artificial sweeteners
    Top causes of overeating:
    • Bile deficiency
    • Low-fat diets
    • Junk foods
    • Lack of energy
    • Boredom
    • Pregnancy
    • Pain
    • Being overweight
    • Insulin resistance
    • Metabolic syndrome
    • Diabetes
Leptin is a hormone that is supposed to keep your hunger satisfied. Here are the best ways to increase leptin:
    • Get plenty of sleep
    • Lower your stress
    • Get regular exercise or physical activity
    • Add more fiber to your diet
    • Do fasting
    • Consume omega-3 fatty acids
    • Consume green tea
    • Consume probiotics and fermented foods
    • Consume nutrient-dense foods
    Tips to stop overeating:
    1. Get on the Healthy Keto diet
    2. Do fasting
    3. Eat your vegetables first
    4. Before eating a meal, determine what you’re going to eat and how much you’re going to eat
    5. Chew your food longer
    6. Avoid restaurants

I agree with Sam. Your body and mind will get used to fasting. It took me a month to initially get used to a shorter fast (about 14 hrs) but really, it has taken about a year to work up to fasting 20 hours a day of more.

Don't forget that hunger pains is really a body being thirsty so if you drink water or green tea or lemon water you'll feel amazing forget that you thought you were hungry and can go on for another one to three hours. Also hunger pains are our body burning fat and healing because we don't have food to digest

For it's so much easier to fast if I'm eating keto. Blood sugar stays steady. I get emotional hunger, but no pangs at all.

I’m 61. I have been eating keto OMAD since January 2022. I’ve lost 50 pounds, stopped taking 7 medications and have had the best blood test results in my life. I have two strategies for hunger pangs. Strategy 1. I have 2 cups of coffee in the morning and I make an Electrolyte Slushy around noon (Slushy recipe - grind one lime with 12 fl oz of water in blender. Strain lime pulp. Add lime infused water back in blender. Add 12 fl oz of ice, one scoop of DrBerg electrolyte powder, one tablespoon of MCT oil (i used to get DrBerg’s but it’s out of stock) and I add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I blend for 20 seconds…delicious) This satiates my appetite. Strategy 2. I only allow Keto foods in my house. If I get a craving, I have to get in my car and drive to the store. This works 80% of the time when I do get a craving.

I was amazed that after only a handful of days my appetite dropped significantly. By day 4 I stopped eating breakfast.....I was not hungry. Then day 5 I stopped the "bulletproof" coffee (couldn't choke it down any longer) and wasn't hungry until late morning. By day 5 I was eating at 5 pm and not eating again until about 10 the following day. There were no hunger pains and I just kept busy so I didn't get into the "I'm bored, lets eat" mode. On Keto now 9 days, it appears I'm doing IF as well and down 9 pounds. I do get sugar cravings but stave them off with black coffee. Thank you Dr. Berg!

I use to eat fast food every meal, loads of candy, cakes, pies...oh my and over a gallon of soda a day. I started eating small salads with kale, arugula etc. I started craving the salads over the junk food. I haven't had a soda in 2yrs, I cut way back on fast food and I lost over 100 lbs. I use to laugh the weirdos the love kale... now I'm the weirdo. Ty for all the very informative videos.

i was in quite a bad shape, after losing means of primary income i was trashy and moody daily, was borderline overweight. tried very hard to persevere and work to put food on table but to no avail my body is just not having it, after each meal i was so tired and sleepy to the point that i need to sleep or nap and the cycle keeps on repeating. until i started to research my symptoms, and came across this Dr Berg and others regarding keto & intermittent fasting and the dangers of sugar addiction in food and processed foods. This was like a lightbulb moment and everything started to click. It really made me reflect on myself
i always have bad sleep and sleep apnea. and was snacking all my way to midnight or right before sleep. I realized i needed to make a change to be able to function properly and dive right into it nearly cold turkey i should say as i was completely fed up with the state i was in. for the first week i change my snacking to more healthy alternatives for eg instead of taking biscuits, bread etc in the midnight, i change it to a healthy alternative like a cheese omelet or boiled eggs ( need to fill myself so i would not have cravings). i completely cut out sugary drinks / deserts / flour / rice and force myself to take salad during the day , not a vegetable lover for the whole part of my life . greens feel disgusting to me without a bunch of dressing to cover it, the way i do it was to change the dressing to something like olive oil and Vinaigrette Dressing to cover the taste of greens.
first week was hard, i had cravings for fast foods, ramen, ice cream, rice, noodles, pasta, breads etc. i just stayed the course and stuff myself with vege salads, eggs and bacon (less salty type) . i was able to stay the course as i was completely fed up with the sorry state i'm in. things started to improve dramatically after the first week. in fact on the first few days without eating much processed foods, i noticed the feeling of paralysis after a meal has become slightly weaker and wearing off.
fast forward 3 months today, i'm doing intermittent fasting together with a very low carb high fat diet. i've dropped around 10-12kg in weight, all cravings gone and i'm able to function by just having 2 meals daily. Mood improve significantly i'm i 'm still working towards restoring my income but without the feeling of helplessness and i feel much more positive. Its really a life changing experience

Hey, Dr.Berg I’ve started a serious disciplined Keto diet with 12-16 hour fasts, I only start my morning with black coffee and water with sea salt, I wait until 6pm to cook my meal of just ground beef, pickled jalapeños, fresh minced garlic, aged Gouda cheese and organic butter I eat that, and maybe a few strips of bacon and I fill my water bottle back up, with sea salt and some apple cider vinegar and cinnamon so it’s by my bedside table in so I stay hydrated before I sleep and for when I wake up, take a cold shower and restart already seeing major progress in 3 weeks I forgot to add on top of that I go to the gym and do at least 30-45 minutes of hi intensity work outs! I take those reishi, lions mane, turkey tail mushrooms too they worked amazing on me, you are truly an amazing person for pointing us in the right direction

I have been on Keto for 4 years now.
As I do it from time to time, I came back to eating carbohydrates for some time last Christmas, just because Christmas is the time for eating :) and it seemed to make it easier when invited for eating.
I got into a huge wave of cravings and overeating, which I have not had since I started Keto.
It was hard to get back on the Keto track. It took me weeks until everything was like before but I really learned from it that it just isn't worth it.
Next Christmas I rather won't eat anything if there isn't something I can eat and stay in ketosis.

I have returned to normal blood sugars and my health has improved dramatically. I am no longer getting hungery, however, I am encountering snack attacks with pecans and walnuts. It is difficult to push this away and I've noticed some weight gain. I will compensate with a 5 to 10 fast but it has been challenging. It's just a question of self control.

I've been doing an imperfect version of keto & IF for almost a year. Through lots of trial & error, I have lost 125 lbs in 51 weeks.
Basically, I do the best I can to follow your recommendations, and don't beat myself up when I slip. It's too much stress to agonize over yesterday's downfall...just get back on track asap. But with lymphocytic colitis due to a cholecystectomy 27 yrs ago, I've been advised by gastro doc to avoid high fiber, especially nuts and raw veggies. Also take warfarin daily, so need to limit my consumption of greens, tomatoes, etc.
I still want to drop another 100 lbs, and I'm determined to make it happen. All these helpful nutritional videos, in your calm, reassuring voice make it a lot easier to focus on becoming my best self.

I eat raw eggs all the time. They are quick and easy to consume. If you are worried about safety, then wash them with soap and water, rinse, and place them in a glass or bowl of water. If they float, then throw them away. I've checked hundreds of eggs and I only had one float on me. I threw that one out. I've been eating raw eggs Rocky style since the 1970s and never had a problem.

    -good sleep
    -exercise as much as possible
    -cold showers
-emphasize eating as much lean protein with every meal as you can. Try to shove down as much chicken breast, or steak, or lamb or whatever as you can fit in your gulliver. You're not going to put on weight eating lean meat, and lean meat is extremely satiating. Hard to eat a lot of junk food after dinner if dinner was 1.5 lbs of sirloin.
