My dad worked on a blue ATC70 12 or so years ago, original owner won it in a sort of Christmas drawing giveaway so he's always know it as a special Christmas version. Now the chrome Z50s I know nothing about BUT I've seen ALL-chrome CT70s and recently a VT750C that were special ordered completely (almost) in chrome. They have been simply referred to as Special Orders or Chrome Specials as far as I've seen.
A little late to the party here, but great video, I actually used to own your 84 110 with the windshield, I sold it to Tyler! Just stumbled across your 1984 line up video and realized that was my old trike!
Should've mentioned 83s are more numerous than 84a as for 84 they saw the writing on the wall and people didn't like them, so less were made. Also, the blue 110s and also probably the actual Christmas special have a color name for that blue, obviously "fighting red" I think was the name of the red at the time but the blue 100s come in a blue knows as "superior blue". Just more pertinent info for the video. Awesome job on the videos, im feeling alot better and looking forward to the shoot and and other trike related activities!
Very interesting video on the blue Honda's! I'm search your video's for any info on a trailer hitch for a 1985 125M as I'm trying to fab one up. I have a Hondaline rack on the rear. Not a lot of mounting points down below. Keep up the good work, looking forward to new video's.
I'll double check my 84/85 125M's to see if any have trailer hitches. I can't remember off the top of my head if they do. I believe it wraps around the axle carrier an has two supports that go up and mount to the same bolts that hold the grab bar/rack. I'll try to confirm for you.
@@ThisOldTrike Thanks! I saw a couple and they seemed to be mounted in the way you described but wasn't 100% sure. I'll also check to see if a hitch mounted the same way on a 110. Seems to be more of that style around. As long as the axle carrier is about the same diameter I can always slice up and re weld what might work. Thanks again, Bill
@@ThisOldTrike I did see an all chrome 50 for sale a couple months ago for less than $1,000. Didn't know anyone was after those, if I see it again I can pass it along. I can't keep up with all my trike projects as is!
Hondaline Fairings are what they're called. They're rare to see them in red... they're unicorns to see them in blue... I've never seen another on a machine.
Sorry bud just watched this so I’m a little late. Excellent info! I literally laughed at the Walgreens comment and the “not a Christmas special” section at the end lol
blue and they just did not make as many. they are far more rare because of less production. not just blue. ok great sac brother. hope that makes sense. your vids are great. chillin' all night cleanin my house listening to them. thanks man.
Yes, well, sort of. 85 and newer were all up-shift. 84 and older were all down shift. This is speaking of the non-sport trikes (Not R's and X's). The Blue ATC 70 was 1983 though.
Back in my day, the man that won the 83 atc 70(blue) wanted a bigger machine and my dad happened to be there and bought it for me. I won the first race I ever run on something with it. It was a circle track race on my blue Christmas special. The Christmas special is the truth about the 70's. Fast forward 40 years I find one of them that the man won back in 82 and had the story as well as the brochure and paperwork that you read. Between 1500, and 1800 is numbers I have dug up from old Honda reps. They also say it to be the rarest bike made by Honda. Made, not sold. Honda doesn't acknowledge that they sold a blue atc70. And they didn't, they gave it away. Trike on my friend
Wish I could send ya pic of this little blue I found along with pic of me at race SO many years ago. You'd appreciate them both.. I got original paperwork with mine when I bought it, the man actually kept it all them years and wouldn't let me leave till he found and gave to me.. appreciate your videos and keep them coming
For the 70, I tend to agree with the Christmas giveaway thing.. 1. The literature, 2. if you could just order a blue one there wouldn't only be '83s out there, the other thing is the nos blue fenders are the 85 mold which is cool, also I've heard that a guys aunt got 2 blue 70s at the same dealer.... could the dealers only network of bartering they may have traded for reds and gave/ sold them off ....the 110s,..... that blue fairing 😍😍😍😍. I haven't had the 2 years side by side I didn't know that about the grab bar/ rack mounts
@@ThisOldTrike I've been messing with 83 4,5, for a while and never had all 3 or lined up any 2 at the same time to see that... we'll add this to the collective UA-cam archive hahahah
My dad had a brand new XA-801 on his three wheeler back in the late 90s. His three-wheeler caught on fire and the tires were all burned up. Even caught the ditch on fire where he was riding.
I don't mind "Handas" they aren't bad I think what happened with them is a little company called Honda came in and stole their thunder and market share haha JK Preston you should do a NY edition atc and have custom stickers made up for the plastics and tank that say Handa...It would be great

Super helpful just bought my first 84 110 excited to get it running
Thank you! I'm late to reply, but hopefully you got it running by now!
I picked up a 84 Yamaha Tri Zingger YT60, been hooked on your channel ever since. Very cool info.
Thank you very much sir!
Well done piece! The facts and the pointing out the differences … excellent job!

Can't wait to get my 85 Honda ATC 200s running and driving!
@This Old Trike - I have a few questions about the blue 110's. Is there a way to contact you?
You can DM me on Instagram @this_old_trike or you can look me up on facebook, Preston Frasier. There's a few of us, but I'm the really handsome one.
What’s up with the windsheild on the one and the cover and where can I get one

Thank you sir! I'm trying!
I had red 1985 ATC70. My cousin had a 1984 blue ATC70. First gear was down on his blue one. First gear was up on mine. 🇺🇸

Some great info brother thanks for sharing.
Thank you!!
I have 2 ohstu tires on the back of my 82 185s three-wheeler. I didn't know they were puncture resistant tires from Honda.
XA-801's? If so, yes sir!
@@ThisOldTrike yep they are so old and hard you can run them on like 2 psi.

My “Christmas70” has blue grips, was that a stock feature?
No sir. Stock was the standard black ATC 70 grips.
Nothing like the Z50’s🙏
I found a 110 M this year picked it up for 400 bucks
Awesome! Good score man!!
Awesome info! I really like the the blue one, no matter the size, and this comment is not a Christmas special! Lol
lol, thank you sir!!
The easyrider peg was for a rider on front rack
Ah! That makes a lot of sense!!
Had Christmas special blue under pants back in 1976 🤦♀️
Man! Still have them?? For sale??? Lol
