Jimmy Wanjigi is an excellent example of what being an educated citizen is all about! We need to hold the government accountable and demand answers as to where more than 4.1T Ksh has disappeared to. @@bnyams6716 true. Our govt is full of PhDs/doctors, people who went to school abroad, people who have interacted with foreign think tanks. Remember Kemsa billionaires? All doctors!!
If they are behaving like they don't know what they are doing, it's because it works. It's a mind game. If we believe they are incapable, they will have the go-ahead to be incompetent.
I really regretted voting for Uhuru when he, during a press conference, was obviously tipsy and dared to ask us (about rampant corruption), "wha do you want me to do? Mnataka nifanye..???" As if he hasn't been in government, or never went to Kenya school of government, and also studied in the best schools in this country and abroad...
It's like a bad spouse. They will always exploit your mental and emotional tendency to be forgiving, but they never change...

In international law, odious debt, also known as illegitimate debt, is a legal theory that says that the national debt incurred by a despotic regime should not be enforceable. Such debts are, thus, considered by this doctrine to be personal debts of the regime that incurred them and not debts of the state

When the government borrows (legally or illegally) from banks, banks are not to blame. Banks are doing what they are licensed by the same government to do. What law have the banks broken?? None.
Government is the one to answer why it broke the law. Government is the one to follow those who took the money, get the money back and use that money to repay all those loans and debts.

The Kenyan government has been verbally trashing our economy even in events attended by international leaders. If a CEO talks recklessly about a business, the value of that business goes down. *Fact* .
It's no surprise that the stock market is doing horribly, government-issued bonds have lower uptake, shilling loss of value has accelerated and Kenya's credit rating was downgraded to B3 just last month -- 3 downgrades in 6 months! Government not only makes borrowing difficult and expensive for itself, it spends more, then resorts to overtaxing Kenyans to compensate!
Businessmen and women are voting with their money, saying they're optimistic. There's great economic value in magnanimity, reconciliation and unity of purpose!

  • @teddymurigi7064

This predicament is indicative of the inherent flaws within a capitalist society. Our nation, in essence, is the domain of the affluent, and we, its inhabitants, are mere subjects subservient to their interests.
The alarming disregard for our exponentially burgeoning internal debts raises profound suspicions. The perplexing reality that the government solicits loans from financial institutions, irrespective of its negligible necessity and opaque motives, borders on criminality. One cannot help but question how such egregious actions manage to evade scrutiny, given the existence of institutions like the parliament and even the media, entities that ought to pose incisive inquiries.
Upon further reflection, it becomes apparent that those who hold positions of power within the government, as well as those entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing its activities, are, in fact, investors in these very banks. This elaborate scheme serves as a means for them to amass wealth at the expense of the hard-earned money of the common populace. Consequently, it should come as no surprise that we find ourselves weighed down by overwhelming debts, while the purported benefits of the substantial funds we are purportedly enjoying remain conspicuously absent.
