For anyone coming here years later, there are plastic gears in the latch opening mechanism that rattle like crazy. Pack the mechanism with grease and the rattling will go away.
Dude you are the best. I purchased the Short tails because of you and then you also helped me with the annoying rattle/vibration. AND you helped me fix the trunk hatch not opening all the way. THANK YOU MAN!
I would have bought some Dynomat or equivalent and put it on all the metal...it also help deaden he sound back there...it's the same stuff they use when the do custom installs on audio systems.
I know exactly your feels, same setup but Y pipe (non-nismo) and I have been fighting this beast for months. Didn't think of the blanket between the plastic beneath the hatch! Thanks!
Adding this to my to do list, not because of the exhaust, but if you run two 10" subs, it will rattle at certain frequencies. Also, if you're open to it, there are areas that you can add sound deadening to the extremely tinny section in the spare tire area. Pull the carpet and spare, bang around in there, and you'll laugh, it's basically a tinny sheet metal layer the spare sits on, that would vibrate on mine once I went to an aftermarket exhaust. The area that is just above the exhaust exit that forms the rear wall is especially bad as well. Vibration/rattles on startup were pretty bad and also at certain RPMs. Depending on how much sound deadening you put down there, you will lose a little exhaust volume, but you'll keep the lower/and upper tones of the exhaust while eliminating some of the cruising drone in that 2k-2700 range. Pull the spare and you'll see what i mean!!!!
I don’t know if you left your heat shield on or not, I did. I sprayed it with some zoro sound dampener coating, also I took the spare out and sprayed the bottom of the trunk. It seemed to help.. I put some 1/4 inch foam on the inside against the front and back of the tire..
@@370z_ yeah, if you make a washer out of tire plug strips then re-bolt it down. It stops moving around as much. and it deadens the sound of a rattle. Any rubber will work. tire plugs just have a good adhesive for plastics.
I have a 17nismo I found my major rattle after res short tails was between the chassis and rear bumper. The source was a antenna range extender bracket far up held on by loose wing nuts. Tighten it up with regular nuts and that solves that rattle!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed supposedly if we don't use an exhaust with bigger piping(3'diameter) than the oem(2.25') we would never get our Z's to those 340whp thats why I don't want to go back to my DNA catback but I am thinking about putting it back.
so 2:50 was a cold start ?????? and you just waited .7 seconds to let it warm up and start driving it or did you pull it out off the garage and let it warm up for about a minute or 2 then drive it slowly until the engine was at operating temperature and the oil as well.
These are modern day cars. In today's modern cars, it's actually more harmful to a cars engine and cooling system to let it idle for more than 40 seconds from a cold start. It was a sunny day with clear skies in his video. No need let the car idle. Fire that bitch up and go!!
Your car is nice but it sounds like trash every single v6 you can just do a muffler delete for 80-150$ and get the same sound as a “performance exaust” so in my eyes huge waste of money

Oh nice. I never had that. But I do remember there was a lot of clear grease in the latch down there

Glad I could help!!! The Z is a great car. Now you can hopefully enjoy it more!! l)

Dave L LOL... That's the 1st thing I thought of as well.

They make a double sided rubber tape just for this. Check car auto stores. It's very commonly used in competition sound systems.
Jason Alan oh cool, that'd probably be better
If you want to fix that problem use 3 or 5 mm flooring under layment it also does a good job on making your car sound proof.
I use tire plugs to make all the plastic stop rattling, works on license plates and wings too.
My spoiler is rubbing or hitting something you think that may help?

Cool. Where exactly is that?
WHERE ID IT DAVE
The sound of your car really damm gud bro. Very cool exhaust🤘
I def need to give this a try mine def rattles a lot at the higher rpms.
This is actually a really good idea. Nice video
WhinslorCheck Thanks!
Brother the drone is crazy how can you keep up with it?
With the high flow cats the drone was too much. It was annoying for me. But stock exhaust with just the resonated short tails was perfect!

Great video! Which HFC's do you have?

How can deactivate the adaptive sound control(fake engin sound from speaker) for 370z
I'm not too sure how to deactivate it. Maybe the dealership can re-code it. On my Supra, I used an OBD2 app and turned the fake engine sounds off
@@BrosFOURRSpeed rhanks alot .but Bros i took it to the Nissan dealer and seams that the technician never heard about ASE
Hey where did you purchase that foam ive trying to look for it but cant find it
I just had it laying around. No clue.
Cut the material right to or a little over the edges, not inside the edge.
What's wheels and off sets are you running bro

Bet a 100 bucks you won't pin this
Jacob Leisinger I accept PayPal. Lol
Damnnnnn, so this is how UA-camrs make money!
That exhaust is horrible. I could not stand that. And you were worried about your plastic rattling? Wow.
Na. I don't need this
Literally make insualtion for that...... you wasted half of this video and you own time..
The foam is probably much cheaper lol
A fucking blanket......
Or here an idea.. just take the plastic off
Chris Paul I tried that. But then I could hear the weather seal squeaking.
Your 370z ain't even loud lol
How is it not? Test pipes + Muffler delete, as loud as it gets
nandosman this is actually a pretty mild setup compared to a lot of other exhausts for these cars paired with test pipes
nandosman headers, non resonated short tails and no cats. He still has a mild set up, still has the stock mid pipe to.
