Victoria Woods' Dinnerladies - The Best Moments
/ netflixuk
At a Manchester catering company, staff members serve up laughs as they juggle personal and professional predicaments in this light sitcom.
My favourite line ever was -
Tony - "Are you not pregnant?"
Bren - "Pregnant? Not unless sperm can get through a sash window".
Cup of hot water love I'm not proud - might be one of my favourite lines in anything
Bernard Wrigley no less
Just give us a teabag, ill suck it on me way
No, I’m sorry, its good but “Where’s my Clint?” beats it!
@@tsrgoinc They're both fantastic
@@cloudstrife1983 an even better line by far 🤣
One of the multiple things I adored about Victoria Wood was that she gave all the best lines to others. So many actors absolutely shone delivering her lines. Thelma Barlow was in Coronation Street for 26 years but not until I saw her as Dolly in 'Dinnerladies' did I realise the extent of her talent.
She's a good comedian and writer.
My favourite was the viagra .....I'm currently working on a sitcom and have equally given the actors a fair share of humour each
Thelma Barlow used to get on my nerves in Coronation St. But I heard her in a couple of radio plays just before Dinnerladies and she was brilliant in them.
I think this was one of the most underated shows on TV. Stellar cast. Fantastic writing and perfect delivery. Saucy without being filthy. Victoria Wood was a genius and is missed.
"Orgasm? I've not blown me nose since Wednesday!"
Might just be my favourite line
Absolute comedy legend. Anyone who says different is wrong. The "Wheres my Clint?" Scene has me in stitches everytime i see it. You cant see Victoria is dying to laugh in the scene
I always thought the perfect response would have been 'come again?'.
It's up there with "Can you smell my Charlie?"
Wheres my Clint? one of the most hilarious lines from any series. Delivered to perfection. Brilliant
Just give us a teabag and i'll suck it on the way home😂
Victoria Wood is a comedy genius, Dinnerladies was and is probably one of the most under-rated sitcoms ever made. The writing, acting and casting were spot on
May she R.I.P.
If you're wondering who's watching this series every other week, it's probably me
And me
I've just been it again
And me. everyday I'm off work i watch at least one episode
Same here, i watch it with my mother. We have the whole series on dvd too.
And me!
You left out one of the best! "Can you smell my Charlie?"
Stick up two poems in a bus shelter and call it a university
Dolly's rant at the end is EPIC!!! 😆😅😃 Shame not all was shown.
That last scene about the viagra is one of my most vivid memories from this show, it’s absolutely cracked me up back in the day. I was between 12-14 when this came out & I loved it cause it was one of the funniest shows all fronted by women.
I just saw it for the first time and I’m with you. I was rolling and holding my gut - she was so funny! That was hysterical - and now I want to see if I can find this show to watch it.
My favourite line
Bob to Anita: "What are you on? A 2 minutes delay?"
still make me laugh and i still get tearful. what a gift Victoria Wood was and what a loss. RIP
"What will it do when it gets down there and finds there's nothing to pump up?!"
Dolly's viagra speech was epic 🤣🤣🤣
"answer me one question luv, where's my Clint"???
It’ll be like a Range Rover going top speed into a cul de sac 😂😂 Some proper howlers with this show ❤
“I’ve got high blood pressure and water attention Yanno what that gives ya?”
“Boiling water” 😂😂😂
Water retention*
All Dinnerladies just totally brilliant! As an American who lived/worked in London years ago, I'm fan of Victoria Woods and only shocked that one can limit down the 2 awesome seasons to just these GREAT clips!! This was a challenge indeed for under 9 minutes! How about highlights parts 2 & 3 as well?! Just awesome top notch British comedy of many!
RIP dear Victoria!!
Victoria Wood CBE 19 May 1953 - 20 April 2016
She was head and shoulders above other so-called comedy writers.
She is missed terribly.
No dandruff then
We in Britain have been wonderfully blessed with a great collection of comedy writers over the years.
I thought David Nobbs was brilliant with the Rise and Fall of Reggie Perrin for example. Many others of course. It’s just that they all seem to have disappeared into swamp of unfunny swearing.
@expressoevangelism80 There are some apallingly bad "comedy performers" on Radio 4 at the moment. They get implanted into such programmes as "The Infinite Monkey Cage" to interrupt experts in the middle of telling us something interesting to make a facile "joke".
Steve Punt is bloody awful presenting "The Third Degree" and Lou Sanders is cringeworthy on every show she's on.
@@Chris-dm1je I agree about Steve Punt who thinks he has to make a joke after every answer, very irritating
@@Chris-dm1je I think the overriding oppression from the Woke agenda has suffocated the necessary oxygen from the sense of the ridiculous and the fear of offence, which is necessary for comedy to continue to grow.
I recall the fun on television when I was much younger, however when looking back I realise it had to develop, it’s such a pity that Alexie Sale stepped into the void when he did.
Not wanting to appear stupid, but I’ve never really felt that someone on stage shouting out Fxxx was ever funny.
Dolly and stan were incredible characters with perfect casting .....Victoria didnt try to steal the show as Bren she laid the groundwork and the great writing ,very underrated show
The brilliant, irreplaceable Victoria Wood. Great stuff!!! She may be gone, but she’ll never be forgotten.
The great, late Victoria Wood. Brilliantly written comedy with a stellar cast. 😂😂
Give us a tea bag I'll suck it on way home😂😂😂
"Answer me one question..where's my clint......." hilarious
Genius
Ah Dinnerladies! Showing us that something so ordinary and mundane can be funny as hell as well as a sense of togetherness and warmth. Gosh they don't make them like they used to.
This is so beautifully warm, clever and hilarious 😂 ❤
Can you smell my Charlie. I choked!
Some absolute class
Brilliantly written, expertly acted, Comedy Gold
Never gets old, always cracks me up, if you don't find this show funny, then you must be as dull as the modern world.
Thelma Barlow's Viagra bit is such a gem!
A million thank yous to Victoria Wood. You gave us this and so much more. What a fantastic gift you had to give , the joy of laughter. It’s beyond sad that your gone.
Hi
Did he use protection! Ovenmits! Do not eat or drink when watching dinner Ladies!
i wrote a letter to victoria wood when this first came out on the tv as i had some tv critics being disingenuous - she wrote back to me which i was not expecting - very talented & thoughful person
Bring more British comedy sitcoms please
Love this show....RIP Victoria Woods
I've watched this series several times always makes me laugh.
We watch the whole series about once per year, and still end up rolling around even though we know all the jokes. Her skill as a writer is out of this world.
Where will it go when it gets there and finds there's nothing to pump up? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
"What about Mr Tashimoto?"
"Oh I don't think so sweetheart. I don't have the pelvis for a futon..."
RIP Victoria, five years today ❤
One absolute gem that is missing from this, from when they were preparing for some sort of staff banquet outside the factory. Of course there is a mix up and things go wrong, and I think it was the only time that Victoria broke character, laughed and acknowledged her own writing to the audience, when she commented, "He couldn't organise a pea soup in a brewery".
Absolute legend.
Anne Reid's deadpan delivery of 'Christians' is just brilliant 😂
Julie Walters. Pure genius 👌
After she blew up her caravan, her appearance when she enters the caf makes me laugh like a sea lion
Dinnerladies always made me laugh my favourite. R.I.P. Victoria!
Sheer joy. I love this so much. My hubby and I have watched these so many times we frequently use Victoria Wood's brilliant lines to illustrate a point or pass comment on a situation. Our daughter says sometimes it sounds like we are speaking a different language. I do wish Victoria was still with us. A unique talent never surpassed and sorely missed. ❤
Dolly "You're lucky, men don't swell up without warning."
Tony "Nope, we get a bit of warning I suppose"
Has anyone seen my clint?
"I lost eight tropical fish in a power cut" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There's something about comedies filmed or set only around one building. This is a gem.
Parliament, I know, classic that it is.
Very true! Rising Damp, Fawlty, Young Ones, Reggie Perrin (mostly) Yes Minister and Prime Minister to name but 6
My favourite line is from Jean when Christine tries to tell her how to whisk.
"Which silly old count...ry person told you that?"
Doesn't work as well in text :') Basically anything Jean ever said.
All these clips were great, but 6:20 was genius because it was both funny, snarky AND profound all at once. She shut that customer up good 'n' proper! 😆
7:43 - I can finally understand why my ma nearly passed out laughin at such a stupidly hilarious situation.
“Oh just sign it Bren, Ive got an itchy bum”
Twinkle and Bren’s faces ……….priceless 😆
I love this show so much . I watch it all the time
Can u lot a Netflix fix the copies of the show you have most of season 1 is damaged and whole lines are missing in season 2
"Where's my Clint?" hahahaha. I miss her constantly. I am not sure if we'll ever have someone appear with these comedy skills again.
Victoria Wood. how lucky we are to have the Dinnerladies recorded for later playback.
Just utterly brilliant 👏
There are so many more lines that could’ve been included here. I liked Anitas ‘turkey baster’ conversation, for example. No fault of this editor, great job mate. Just an example of the genius of Victoria Wood that there was so much more cleverly written stuff.
Debbie from Coronation Street
If you think the best of this brilliant series can be covered in just 9 minutes you obviously haven’t seen much of the series.
Excellent. Genius Victoria Wood.
Loved Stan, his one liners were comedy gold.
Born Christmas Eve so we called her Brenda.
I wonder how many get that joke.
Hi
“I lost 8 tropical fish last week in a power cut” honestly hilarious 😂
R.I.P THE LEGENDARY VICTORIA WOOD !
I have a banded the T.V. such a load of rubbish these days, you.ll never beat Victoria Wood & C.O.
6:19 to 6:35 so many people need to hear this
I love Dinnerladies. Have rewatched my dvds quite a few times. Some of the episodes on Netflix don’t have the theme music though, or any music during the scene transitions which is a shame as a lot of the show’s charm comes from the melancholic music. Also, the episodes without the music have less audience laughter than my DVD episodes (particularly at more subtle jokes which I assume means my dvd versions have some canned laughter added). Wonder what is going on there. .???
They always filmed two shows one on the Friday night and one on the Saturday. If changes were needed Victoria would spend possibly all night re writing then they would have to learn any new lines in time to perform for the second show. Perhaps they are showing slightly different versions?
Nothing canned about that laughter, probably Netflix had editing the sound. It’s the same with Still Game, another BBC sitcom, which has the wrong theme tune.
The look between Bren and Twink at 7:52 - classic!
Comedy very fun😂😂
I love Dinnerladies! Funny show! 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Forgot how funny this was. Great actors and the wonderful Victoria Wood.
Absolutely brilliant. Brilliant writing. Brilliant casting. British comedy at its best. I miss the show and Vic.
Vale Victoria Wood. Genius ❤❤❤
The things she came out with 'a shepherd's pie under a cardigan'. Her brain was incredible. Such a loss. But it's things like this that makes me thankful for technology..
_WHERE'S MY CLINT?_
I l9ve how she's fighting to keep a straight face hahahahaha
I could barely see the video through the tears by the end!
Answer me one question love. Wheres my Clint?
All these Soap stars lol
Mavis 3:08 (Corrie)
Valerie 1:33 (Corrie)
Eileen 3:18 (Corrie)
Sunita 1:40 (Corrie)
Debbie 0:48 (Corrie)
Dan 2:52 (Emmerdale)
Doug 2:57 (Emmerdale)
Duncan Preston also had a brief role in Corrie he conned Fred Elliot with a fake Thai bride, also Maxine Peake (who I personally think is one of the best actresses this country has ever produced.) was in one episode also as a bad date with Ashley Peacock.
@@Buckaroo_Baldwin Agreed 💯
Maxine is a great actress. Very versatile. So glad she went on to do big things after Dinnerladies
@@Shane-Flanagan I've also just remembered Bernie from Corrie played Jean's daughter in the first episode.
Answer me one question love. Where’s my Clint? 🤣🤣
I still have the dvd set. 🙂 Always apprechiated the darker, moodier pieces, made it feel more alive than regular sitcoms.
I still have the DVD set also. I watch it whenever I need a good laugh. Brilliant series. My mother could easily fit in with these dinner ladies, her sense of humour is exactly the same.
Thanks so much for posting.
Where's my Clint did it for me!
the hot water lines are very favourite comedy moment
Classic comedy. Nothing beats Dinnerladies!
“I don’t have the pelvis for a futon” 😂
R.I.P. Victoria, you comedy legend x
Love it my favorite
Absolutely brilliant i can watch Dinnerladies again and again, such a great loss a comedy genius!
Bloody brilliant
The Viagra sketch is one of the funniest comedy skits ever made. Oh Vic how we miss you x
I think it's been taken off netflix bloddy typical
Think the whole series is on iplayer
Oh god.... All the old sitcoms... oh god
One of my favourite lines delivered by Babs "I was going to go on Mastermind, but i can't sit on leather!!" Has me howling every time! 😂
This comedy legend will never be bettered. Much missed.
The best bits? All of it are the best bits 😆
Go Bren..tuna and sweetcorn.....well said!!
They don't have tuna and sweetcorn, they only have tuna 'n' sweetcorn. 😉
@@davimurphha ha .of course yes..."un" ..Victoria so observed British life !
@@davimurphBren - "we don't do tuna🐟and sweetcorn🌽,we only do tuna🐟 'n' sweetcorn 🌽, 'n' means it's all mushed up"
Dolly - "Morecambe and Wise"
Jean - " Little and Large"
Twinkle - "Wallace and Gromit"
Anita - "baby food"
Dolly - "That doesn't go together"
Anita - "it's all mushed up" LOL!
The Viagra sketch is SOOOO funny!
