I was shocked and heartbroken. Victoria was probably one of the best all-rounder with Julie Walters and many other known actors. Bless you Victoria, you were so loved. RIP lovely lady. x
To get 8 minutes out of a stupid line from a face cream commercial is quite a masterful thing. You get to the end, she just says goodnight and it's actually the perfect punchline because she set it up two minutes ago.
I actually cried when I heard that Victoria Wood had died. She was always so healthy looking so it was such a shock when it was announced. She was my favourite entertainer.
Wow!! I've never seen this!!! Oh it was like she'd come back. Really nice to hear her comment on modern life. So sad to have been taken away from us. Thank you Victoria Wood xx
I once stood behind her at an ATM in Covent Garden and was terrified of speaking to her. I loved her from the age of 13 or so. Her comedy got me through my teens and onto adulthood.
I’ve heard lots of people had that same problem, they felt overcome with nerves because she was such a star but very private offscreen. She once had to explain to a reporter that she really didn’t mind being stopped and was happy to speak to people!
Entertaining brilliantly without one single swear word. Nobody could match Victoria Wood today. She was superbly talented. I am sorry we lost her so soon. Rest in peace.
Sadly missed. There will never be another like Victoria Wood. She should have been made a Dame, even posthumously. It would be a deserving tribute to her. Love her Dinner Ladies and Stand ups especially. Thankfully have many on CD or DVD.
Victoria Wood was so talented, clever, and very witty and her timing was second to none. I hope Miss Wood had a happy private life, as she gave us all so much pleasure, and always sent us away with a spring in our step.
Incredibly funny and extremely talented lady so very much missed taken from us far too soon honestly does seem 2 years since she died like everyone I miss her so much
I remember Carter's Little Liver Pills, Sol-Vol, Snowfire Ointment , Rinso, Setlitz Powders and a kids' comic called " Chips "., but am unable to remember what I had for lunch.
I'd never heard of her until about a month ago when she popped up in my UA-cam feed. She's so funny. I used to love to watch Vicar of Dibley and As Time Goes By when I could catch them here on Public Broadcasting and I always thought that they were smarter and more subtle than American humor.
I know it was an act. I know she wasn't like that in real life. None of that matters. She was the absolute best of her generation. My word, I feel blessed just to have seen her on the tele. Max Miller, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, Victoria Wood. Peter Kay.
I still can't believe she's gone. She was a stellar comedian, peerless in her gentle witty observational sketches. She could make the simplest of situations hilariously funny. The world lost a beautiful shining light the day she passed.
She is and was legendary, beautiful, hilarious and she was such a loss to her fans and friends. My wife and i adore chilling and rewatching Dinner ladies, a British masterpiece 🥰😍😘 From, a fan ❤
Surfing the UA-cam in California. Thanks to Kathrine Tate covering Barry and Freda, I just discovered Victoria Wood. Seems like she was an amazing woman. Watching her music, comedy, and even an interview with Dawn French, she was fantastic. So sorry she's gone.
... well I don't know who out there knows me - but now I get sent these catalogs through the post ...I am sure these firms have our birthdays in a register somehow !
- and I agree ... Victoria Wood will always be missed ... exceptionally funny and amazingly talented ... and a very nice person ... I know I sent her a post card once from NZ and she personally wrote back to me to thank me !
We're all on every list out there. There's no avoiding it now, companies sell your personal details to other company mailing lists, even when you're told they'll never sell on your details. I particularly notice that whenever I purchase something from, say, Amazon, within minutes I'm inundated with offers of the same item from numerous companies. Everyone's vying for your money. I often receive calls to my mobile phone asking if I'd like to discuss the recent car accident I was involved in! I've never been in a car accident, never even learned to drive! I have call blocking on my landline and mobile so if it reads 'unknown number' I don't answer.
I always thought she would be another Thora Hird.. Just living forever.. I still forget even today in 2019 that she is dead.. I think someone in the comments put it best.. that she looked so healthy.. that it WAS a massive shock when she died.. She seemed like such a wonderful human being..
My mother went through the same thing earlier this year. Told no-one and was gone in 6 weeks. Roughly about the same age as Victoria too, whom she adored. May they both rest in peace.
did you ever see her on Graham Norton? she was so uncomfortable and out of her safety zone bless her it was really uncomfortable to watch. she was a performer only on her own terms and she was brilliant when she was in charge. on graham norton she retreated inside herself as she often did cos she was so shy in company and it was not an easy watch. The private Victoria Wood was an entirely different person to the public Victoria Wood. One was real the other was constructed. Losing her was terrible loss.
I didn't see that, but I did see the recording of a Dinnerladies episode and while the cast nattered between takes, Victoria sat on a small chair and looked at her script. I think the rest of them knew not to disturb her, she was so focussed on her work. It was odd to see.
Urgh I really wish we could have her back, can't we do some sort of death exchange deal? We'll give James Corden, Piers Morgan and Katie Hopkins to get back Victoria Wood, Alan Rickman and David Bowie . . please?
That's what used to be known as "ITV laughter" - dialled up louder than BBC laughter. As ITV completely gave up on sitcoms, it must be pretty rare these days.
3:25 You know I'm a canadian zoomer cause at first I thought she was talking about GIFs and when I realized that wasn't it I thought peanut butter. Nope she's talking about Vim
comedy goddess confirmed status aside, i always get the feeling that later on in her comedy career (the 2000s onward) she reeeeeeeeeeally didnt want to be doing it. she was always rye and rueful, but her earlier stand-up was always delivered very enthusiastically, whereas later appearances (on chat shows, too) were always shot through with an I-dont-care-anymore. i wished she would have stayed in comedy- her northerness makes her naturally prone to mawkishness when dealing with pathos, so her drama works left me cold, and i wish wish wish she had written something later in life that was a comedy but tremendously dark and lacerating- she has the skillset of dramatist and comedian, so it would have let her flex her varied writing and performing muscles- and it would have been in keeping with her comic disaffection toward herself. anyhoo
Totally agree ! ... she seemed like it was a chore to some extent, her genius was observation but it feels she had possibly had enough! Maybe she was feeling unwell? However through it all she delivered with great style, even in this performance you can see glimpses of her natural talent. For me Pat and Margaret was her best followed by Dinnerladies, her ability to set a scene with only words made you feel you were actually there. God bless Vic! Rest well and thanks for the laughs!
its called getting older and seeing it all, we have more exuberance in youth but that withers with wisdom and realisation...also shed done it so many times previous so sometimes bound to get a bit bored.
I guess no one wants to be doing the same job their whole life. Which is essentially what it was for her, a job. I think she took more of a writing role later on and less in front of the camera
She said on Parkinson that she decided her 2001 tour (six years before this performance) would be her last because she wanted to explore other avenues. She did continue to do little bits of standup here and there, and always hinted that she might go back to it one day. It’s just a shame she never had the chance to.
Nothing I ever write here will be enough credit to This immensely talented lady. R I P Victoria Wood ❤️
She is so missed! A genius and national treasure in every sense of the word❤️ RIP Victoria, thanks for all the laughs xx

Victoria actually performed for about 20 minutes, but it was trimmed to the 8 minutes we see here. Would love to see the edited parts as well.
I actually cried when I heard that Victoria Wood had died. She was always so healthy looking so it was such a shock when it was announced. She was my favourite entertainer.
Why wouldn't you cry? Just because she's famously, she's still human. Its natural to grieve. It was a big loss to all of us. (And I cried too)

No need for her to be a Dame when she’ll always be a Queen to millions.
"There will never be another" Well why not?
She was such a talent. The ballad of Barry and Frida makes me laugh every time I play it on UA-cam.
Ty so much I just googled that song for the first time and I’m in tears, always loved dinner ladies never seen much of her solo comedy
This woman was pure, utter brilliance. Sadly missed.
She was insanely talented. Funny, musical, wrote songs n sketches n plays, kept fit, topical, self-deprecating, plus loads more
Queen of British Comedy 👸
It will be my one regret in life that I didn’t get to watch her live. Part of my youth died with Victoria.
Me too :'( I wish I had seen her live
I feel so lucky that I saw her once. But it's still not enough.

Such a brilliant woman.
Victoria Wood will never be forgotten I still watch her now and listen to her songs keep her spirit alive
A beautiful, loveable soul. So much gratitude that she lived. ❤️
