Ah, watching again, marvelous, brilliant performances by all cast, Victoria & Julia lead the bravos to all what a Mum & daughter relationship! As an American fortunate to have lived & worked in London years ago for a bit, I always connect to British shows....Dinnerladies leads the best indeed just "flippen" brilliant all around!! Ms. Woods we are all blessed with each episode, RIP my dear you left far too early!!
One of my all time tv characters Julie Walters as Petuna Gordino, loved it then and love it now. Victoria Wood s marvelous witty writingstyle, she could create a character who s saying only two sentences and you have the feeling you know the person all your life!
If ever 'the North' was best represented it's by this most successful of series. You've got the lot, rollicking humour, poignancy,a perfect mix of characters who could be someone next door to you,or even sat next to you right now on the sofa, with a cup of tea & a digestive! "New venue, new caravan, new kidney" Who the hell could beat that? No-one,that's why VW is the best there is."Now,think on"
"You've got the uterus of a Wimbledon champion" I have to wonder at where VW gets some of her lines from, lol.I can imagine her in the queue for 5 items or less,& she's ear-wigging a conversation between two middle-aged women in headscarves! "So the gynaechologist says,Mrs Moffat, for a woman of your years, you've the uterus. . . . . . " "He didn't" "He did" And there you have it,VW walks quickly back to her car with yet another gem for Dinnerladies! Just a thought!
I love the way Celia Imrie is sometimes caught by the camera giving a ''theatre stage entrance''. It's quite right since they shot this like a play and performed it more than once. The whole cast is superb and it's little things like that which make it all the better.
