I did that with the abandoned mansion series for the most part, it was almost done, but I got to binge watch like the first 20 parts in a couple days lol
I found Matt's off the ranch channel just after they bought the abandoned mansion. I looked forward to every episode and then binged the whole series all over again. It was great seeing the beginning all over. I then joined the demolition ranch and vet ranch, also Mark's and Dr Lee's channels. Looking forward to seeing these videos too!
Hire a groundskeeper. Sooner than later. They will be invaluable in getting work done on the property while you are focused on other things, their knowledge will help with designing the grounds, and they will be immeasurably more connected and caring when you open up if they're maintaining/improving something they helped build. 🙂
But somebody who knows what their doing with the grounds, and thinks long term for the health of the property. Not just because they are licensed and have a shingle to hang.
The reason we don't get bored watching these longer videos is because it's like you're exploring the property and taking us along for the ride. There's not much that beats checking out a new, huge area that not many have been in or seen for years or decades. A lot of really cool discoveries (and some nasty ones, too) have been made and more, I'm sure, to come. Even those, though, are interesting. PLEASE keep it up and thank you for sharing all this wonder! Oh, and of course we can't forget the humorous antics of Mikey. How that boy hasn't killed, or even hurt himself, yet, is beyond understanding. lol (you, too! Y'all please keep it up, but continue to be safe!)
We definitely want you to keep with the one hour episodes, we want to come along every step of the way and I'm sure a lot of us wish we could just be there with you helping you do what you're doing.
I agree. I think it feels that way because he’s taking footage from what could be two or three separate videos and combining them in just the right ways.
I dig the hour-long videos. The scale of the project supports it! An hour of a house would be a bit much. An hour of an entire resort, definitely has progress needing to be made!
Your channel has literally inspired me to sell my house, buy a house that was a dump and fix it up. Thanks for the content and the inspiration even though you will probably never see this comment. Your channel has helped me through some dark times and I really appreciate you.
Better keep ur current house and buy a dump and fix it over time the way u want and then sell ur current house and move in to ur new and improved home. Good luck with the project if u decide to take a shot🤞
You could use the huge grass area as a camping ground, so people could come in with their tents and camping gear, one facility trailer and some more generators and it's good to go!
So I made a recommendation in one of your earlier vids. Being in construction myself, I would recommend getting with a company that will help you "phase plan" your resort. They will come and talk with you and discuss your priorities and create a plan as to what you should work on first through last. Next hire a reputable construction company that you get on a FFP (Firm Fixed Contract). Make this a design/build project. (they will have to hire an architect under their contract). That means if they forget anything they are on the hook not you. This way you don't deal with change orders that can bleed you dry. Food for thought...
I get the feeling Matt is feeling a tad bit in over his head, im so sorry!! Hang in there Matt. As a steel fabricator we talk about huge projects and I was talking to an experienced steel detailer and he gave us the best advice that we use to this day: “how do you do the big jobs?”, “it’s like eating a big meal, one bite at a time”
Long form content? Go for it. I often spend an hour+ at a time sitting in my truck or at a desk working on reports, and it's great being able to start just a single video that I can listen to and half-watch while working without needing to pick a new video every 10 minutes. And the montages and general goofiness you bring to the channel are great
In my opinion matt you should stay with the longer videos for this abandoned resort project because it’s great watching all the stuff you’re doing and I love seeing all the wildlife and animals that call this beautiful place home
he needs to find some you-tube cowboys and see if they want to come do a goat round up. i don't know if they are considered as livestock gone wild, or if they are wild goats that inhabit the area. they are good for weed control, but it looks like they are a bit destructive too.
I’m in the UK 🇬🇧 and more than happy to sit through an hour or even more for an episode of yours. Love both channels and would continue to watch even if they were 2-3 hours long, after all some films are that long and we can find time for those as and when so keep up the great work guys. All the best, Jon over here in good old Blighty that is England 🏴
Love the longer videos!! You know why Matt and the rest of the crew are bad ass? They’re not afraid of hard work and getting their hands dirty actually doing work themselves. I can appreciate that.
Long Format = Best format. This thing has so many moving parts, it's pretty engaging to see how the problem solving, discovering things, etc. is going. This thing is going to take years, and I'm going to watch every one of em. Keep at it guys!
I believe Matt has finally realized we want to see the entire ranch and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s gone on Google and looked at it and said hey, what are all these houses and we finally know so mad please keep giving us long episodes I’m sure I’m not the only one who also would love to see a full tour of every building in an out.
Hi Matt. You could concentrate on getting the range and activities up and running and then start out having people camp on the property while you renovate the cabins. Kind of an outdoor adventure experience. Camping and a furring range is going to appeal to a lot of people.
Yes Matt , longer videos are great. We like to see your daily struggles and the friends that help you, and the teamwork, we enjoys the joking around but the seriousness of the situation. You pull at our heartstrings to offer assistance. The idea is great. And it will take a long time and patience to clean it up, but it’s an awesome situation! I’m proud of you for starting this project. !!
Honestly I much prefer the 30-60min videos over the 10-15min ones. The short ones feel to condensed and I enjoy the extra banter and behind the scenes so to speak of the longer ones. Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the place.
I personally prefer the longer vids but at the same time I don’t mind how long they are! I just love watching along as you turn properties from non habitable to habitable & I’m loving the addition of mikey! He’s a super cool dude!

Long format videos with Matt and the Demo Crew are the absolute best! I really hope you keep the carpet in the Airstream. Also, the Resort's "Resort Planning" house is a great use for these early stage days/years. Can't wait for the next installment of Abandoned Resort!
Hey Matt! Love the airstream. You may want to look into creating a solar panel grid to power the trailer and possibly even a full campground in that clearing.
That's a great idea! Especially if he gets sponsorship. That can also be how he gets electricity to the buildings he wants to have it until he gets the wiring and stuff resolved. I vote the purple carpeting stays. It's a pretty shade that works.
Yeah matt, keep it up. While watching these videos I remember your old videos , u fixed something with ur kids, or making something new, or taking us with you wherever you go, those small simple stuff i appreciated most. Because we already living with day to day stressors and complicated life, so these kind of things are far more enough for me. Keep it up.
@@jakeforrest Even if there was a wine cellar there are still two issues. Is there still wine in it and is it even drinkable. Old wine is sometimes only useble as vinager for food or if lucky it turned into port.

100% agree, This whole concept of buying the ranch and then showing episodes of the renovation...... Absolute pure genius ! Plus all these other UA-camrs get publicity for their channels, It's a win-win-win situation 👍👏👏👍 Plus, it seems like Matt has figured out that we want to watch an hour of him being a dork😅
Love this. My parents bought a resort when I was a kid in the woods of WI. My Dad was a general contractor so I also grew up on the job site. If I was 10 years younger I would be sending you my resume. I am also fighting blood cancer that manifested as 13 spinal fractures. Just starting to do more than use the restroom and on chemo and getting a stem cell transplant My brother is your age and I am going to buy him a shirt. My 75 year old Mom loves the videos too. I want to win the airstream trip. I need that river. Anyways, keep that content coming, the more the better. I am currently living vicariously through you. One year ago I could have totally been one of those select few fixing that up. I was one of two volunteers last year on Restaurant Impossible. I have 40 years of hospitality experience including resort. We had a riding stable and I bought my first horse with my first tips when I was 10. One idea I have is running of the goats like the running of the bulls in Spain, if they cooperate. 😂
I don't know about everyone else but every time I see the drone shot of the cabins on the cliffside, I'm dang Matt needs to put a zipline down to the river. That would be so epic and awesome!!!
Unfortunately, our government overlords and insurance providers, would NEVER allow that to happen. That is just way too big of a liability, and no one wants to see Matt become victim to that nightmare.
@Tim East, I agree. The zip line would have to be it's own business with it's own insurance policy. Way too much headache for what will already be enormously stressful.
Awww man, I missed it. Papa would love that, go fishing, sit him in the water... he was on hospice and got better and is on home health. That's a good idea..
It would definitely cause an insurance risk. Until they have areas cleared and cleaned up, too much chance of someone's rig getting messed up. Same reason he can't have people staying in the cabins, its not safe yet. Any place that allows RVs to stay has made it safe in certain places to put them. All of that being said... He could just have them sign a waver that the ranch isn't liable.
@@sberryscake doesn't even need a waiver, just needs a notice of liability to be posted clearly in a public area, like at the entrance or somewhere like that
I love the hour long episodes with more content! The only potential issue I could see is that for me I wait until the weekend to watch them regardless of when they're uploaded so if I'm not the only one like that then it could make "trending" a little more difficult and skew the early views a bit.
Im so stoked these past couple episodes have been close to an hour. I feel like i have to let the 15 minute episodes pile up for a while so i can binge for an hour or two
I vote longer videos!! Btw, that house isn’t bad at all. Great place for workers to stay. A little cleaning and new furniture and it could house a few people. Love this new series!!! Thanks for sharing with us all.
An hour gives us all a great escape and understand the magnitude of this project. The drone footage is superb to see! As everyone else is saying we will watch everything you put out. Watching your creativity and fun moments never gets old. Your joy for life is always encouraging. And that riverside is beautiful.
I personally, as it seems many others do as well, LOVE the long form videos! Especially with a huge project like this, the shorter ones just feel like they go to fast. I still watch and love those as well, but definitely prefer the hour long ones. I really like everything about this. Soo amazing! Also, I must say, I do not doubt your feeling exceptionally overwhelmed, but with just six episodes (as you said, you bought it maybe two months ago) I feel like you have made some AMAZING progress!! Great job Matt and crew, all looks great, keep up the good work! I wish I was in Texas, love to come give a hand! If I happen to win the trip to stay in the Airstream, I want one of the conditions of my stay to include me volunteering some of my time to work on the ranch. Id be so honored to be a part of this project!!! Can't wait to see more!
I absolutely love, long videos. My attention span is better than most. I find myself checking the off the ranch channel almost daily just wanting to get my fix of abandon resort.
The longer format is great for a few reasons for me. The vloggy sections are great insights into what's going on on the property and make for good background noise too, while the montages are edited together fantastically and fun to watch. Also holy crap your drone game keeps getting better and better.
Longer episodes typically = more cohesive content and i personally love it i'd rather sit and watch 6 hours of cohesive content about something i thoroughly enjoy (mansion reno was great, loving the resort plans) than 6 hours of jumping from thing to thing every 15 mins. and yes movie length episodes please :)
I was thinking for the maintenance manager, myself. That way, you'd have 24-hour maintenance available once you open. Or make it a longer rental unit. Say two weeks minimum up to six weeks max rental. Just a thought!!😊
I watched the whole video without even realizing how long it was lol. The production of the videos is top notch. Music, drone shots, comic relief, nice scenery, it's all a great package for an hour long video. Keep em coming.
1 hour, hour and a half, 4 hours... It's all worth it! Your videos are fun to watch, and the humor is phenomenal! Keep em coming, sir! Excited to see how the Resort comes out!
keep bringing the hour long plus videos. its nice i get myself some lunch and instead of having a silent house with the kids at school its like hanging out with mates. Id love to see more of the buildings been emptied. its like hoarders, meets house flippers and escape to the chateau rolled into one but Texas sized.
Great video and Resortish! Get soft start for your Airstream AC, will allow AC to start/run better on generator. Can’t wait to stop when we travel through Texas in our RV!
Matt, this is a big renovation series so the episodes need to be big too. I love these longer videos and watching you clear out rooms etc. It is all a part of the journey. 👍
Yes Matt. We would really enjoy longer videos. I think it would be awesome to take a tour of the entire place now before you have done too much to look back at when it all is finished.
Hey Matt, here's a thought for a quick way to set up lodging... they sell really cool park model cabins that would be perfect for a few guys or a small family to say in. They have bedrooms and bathrooms and small kitchens. And they are considerably cheaper than that Airstream. They can be set on the ground or left on the trailer if you wanted to move them around the property as you grow. Anyway, great video bud.
@@GDSTX I feel like as a temporary thing composting toilets like are in a lot of RVs would be fine since they're technically mobile when on the trailers and running some temporary PVC lines for electric and water wouldn't be that hard. Or even just solar and like water tanks attached to them to feed water in. I dunno how the rules are over in Texas for renting out cabin type things but at least when I went to Alaska which I feel has a similar mindset governmentally to Texas the cabins just had outhouses nearby to them and a spring for water in like the center of the property and only enough solar for lighting
EVERYBODY LOVES THE LONGER VIDEOS , as all the previous comments agree . Love it , cant wait till the next episode . !!!!!!! With all the goats around , I thought that all the weeds would be gone , but it is a vast area !!!!!
Hour long demo ranch is kinda like one of those renovation tv shows I used to love as a kid, with the same production quality too 👌🏻 love the hour long vids
Matt finally realized that we will watch these videos regardless of how long they are. Keep hitting us with hour episodes!

Setup like his own koa. Power, water, and septic.
Insurance reasons?
Absolutely.
@@sberryscake doesn't even need a waiver, just needs a notice of liability to be posted clearly in a public area, like at the entrance or somewhere like that
This series is legit going to take YEARS. Thankful for the content and adventure!
Matt is so positive about things. Gotta love his energy
Matt is the most charismatic vlogger on YT and the editing is awesome. I would watch a two hour video.
The longer format is great for a few reasons for me. The vloggy sections are great insights into what's going on on the property and make for good background noise too, while the montages are edited together fantastically and fun to watch. Also holy crap your drone game keeps getting better and better.
Yes! The drone shots just above the clouds was truly epic.
Make the house an employee's residence (property manager or groundskeeper)! That would be a huge incentive.
Or a rental it’s a decent place
Nicer than matts house lol!!
@@erscustoms911 😂
I was thinking for the maintenance manager, myself. That way, you'd have 24-hour maintenance available once you open. Or make it a longer rental unit. Say two weeks minimum up to six weeks max rental. Just a thought!!😊
Please do the hour-long videos. For those who can't be there feels like we're there. Also love watching the fact you do take time to horse. LOVE IT.
Another 50 minute video!!❤ This one is sure to be a banger!! Can't wait till you get it all done and I'll have to save up to go done there once it is.
I'm starting to save now, I WILL go stay at the Desperado Demo ranch when it opens. 👍👍
Subscribed yesterday! (8/24/23)
Watched all of the abandoned mansion and was so impressed! I can hardly wait to see the ranch Reno! Thanks!
So excited for a new episode! I love watching this resort slowly being fixed up!
Ohh Boi, 51 minutes 😎 gotta Watch it comfortably
fixed up? nothings been fixed LOL
@@Hicker1 Cleaning is part of fixing up... they can't start renovating with poop on the floor.
I’m loving these long videos! I sit and have my coffee time and see all the great progress you’re all doing- I’m excited to see how it all turns out.
Matt!! You should reach out to former employees/guests of the resort and get their story of their experience working/vacationing at the property!
That is truly a wonderful idea!!! I'm sure they have some crazy things they could share!
I love the longer videos. The airstream is really cool. Love watching every step of the progress on the abandoned resort.
keep bringing the hour long plus videos. its nice i get myself some lunch and instead of having a silent house with the kids at school its like hanging out with mates.
Love the longer vids! The real stuff, like working and clearing the land and buildings that you have been filming, is great! Keep being you Matt!
This is why I like UA-cam , it really allows creators to shine. Thanks for another great video. I’m excited to watch you transform this place.
Hour Long videos are a must! The wife and I love watching.
Temporarily the airstream or 2 or more airstreams
Sounds cooler
Tiny Texas Homes would work as well! And they are mobile. You could set up a little village.
Infrastructure for that would cost a ton - they all need electric sewer and water
I love the longer videos. It makes it more of a series I can watch with my wife on Saturday mornings. It's now considered appointment viewing.
This series just keeps getting better and better!the camera work was absolutely stellar another top notch video from the ranch!
WOW I’m SO happy for you Matt & Mere for all your successes. I can’t wait to watch the renovations of the resort.
The amount of excitement I feel whenever there is a new resort video! Then to see its an hour long episode? absolute perfection!🥰
Hour long demo ranch is kinda like one of those renovation tv shows I used to love as a kid, with the same production quality too 👌🏻 love the hour long vids
