Fantastic times, great school discos with Sweet, Slade, Sparks, Roxy Music, TRex, Wizzard, ELO, Elton, etc. Many happy memories of my flares and platform shoes(tried to play football in platforms - wasn't a good idea busted ankle).😎
IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR BRIAN FRANCIS CONNOLLY YOUR FANTASTIC MUSIC LIVES ON REST IN PEACE WITH GREATEST LOVE FROM ALL SWEET FANS WORLDWIDE WE ALL MISS YOU SO!
It breaks my heart that Sweet never went into realise their true potential as a massive stadium band. It all ended too early. RIP Brian, Mike and Steve and thank you for the memories. The best glam rock band of the 70s. We want sweet. ❤️.
That’s because their music was bipolar. I love the Sweet, they are one of my favorite bands! But I love them for their heavier, harder edged music. Not for songs like Little Willy. I believe if they would’ve stuck to their more technical, heavier stuff, and away from the bubble gum/pop songs, they would’ve achieved that. Just my opinion.
I think you should read a book about Sweet. I do not remember the name of the book, but Sweet was booked as warm up band/ guest band for The Who tour in USA, because Pete Townshend was HUGE Sweet fan. Brian got into in a bar fight just before The Who tour and The Sweet could not tour with The Who. Lynyrd Skynyrd repalced Sweet on that USA tour.
You are so right! I only had limited knowledge of their music, as I was a little kid in their heyday. But thank goodness for UA-cam, they are now one of my all-time favorite bands. I can hear how they did influence other bands that came along later. It’s crazy that they are not in the rock hall of fame.
The "brilliance" of most Sweet songs comes largely from their chief songwriters. Nicky Chinn and (mostly) Mike Chapman wrote some of the absolute best songs of the '70s - mostly Sweet's, but also the biggest hits from Suzi Quatro and a few from Blondie; they were also responsible for Toni Basil's "Mickey," which was originally "Kitty" by the Australian band Racey.
Radio Luxembourg, that I was listening to at the time. The best radio ever.
ThIs song Is just incredible......Rebel rousing, punkish, power, and real showmen...Sweet is the most under-rated group, maybe of all time....Almost all of their songs are great....Brian Connolly is a major talent, his heart went full board into all his songs....Connolly is better than anything out there in 2020.
I agree with you on all that. More so, I believe that Sweet is the most underrated band both in history and up to date. From a musician's viewpoint, I could go on about how the band members were musically talented, their songwriting abilities and what made them unique but believe me, I'd be typing about that forever LOL.
I love Robin Zander as one of the best rock singers ever. I now realize he started as an absolute Brian Connolly copycat. Queen copied Sweet. Motley Crue copied Sweet to the point of plagiarising hellraiser not-for-note. David Bowie copied sweet. I also personally believe Spinal Tap may have been loosely "inspired" by Sweet. Love these underrated and non-credited souls.
Glad to see you include the word "punkish" as Teenage Rampage and Ballroom Blitz are most definitely pre-punk punk. In fact, punk legends The Damned, featuring Motorhead's Lemmy on bass guitar, did a very plausible cover of Ballroom Blitz in honour of this excellent band. Respect due!
Hes not on any list because for some reason Sweet and Glam were never taken seriously ,yet Sweet and of course Slade could rock with the best of them ..Solid Tight and excellent musicians and front men
Sweet used to freak me out as a little kid. At the ages of 8, 9 and 10, I didn’t know any better. They were an amazing and quirky band! Good times and great music does last forever through videos, etc. 😊❤
I don't get the comments about this band being so under rated. Early 70's The Sweet had countless chart hits and were never off the TV and radio. Brilliant yes, but also very successful.
People didn't hear them on the radio nor get to read about them, so they got fed what rolling stone magazine, or the local radio station promoted at the time!
Mike Tucker - the best glam rocker drummer. After I learned to play drums, I would drum to Teenage Rampage, Blockbuster and Lies In Your Eyes. RIP Mick T and I hope you are rocking all over heaven with The Sweet lead vocalist Brian Connolly. 💙🙏🎼🎤.
Steve Priest, the bassist and co-founder of glam rock band Sweet, has died at the age of 72. He was known for his playful humour R.I.P Fella, It was a pleasure to listen to the sweet and your distinctive vocal input as well as your bass playing.
It was about 1990 , I was flappin around in my flared trousers scaring so many fellas but for one man who wore the same super 1970s stuff as me ! He'd call out to me often and wanted to know who I was... Putting 3 and 3 together and making 6 , I realised it was the lead singer of SWEET I believe !!! It was around Bletchley in Milton Keynes . What a super guy ...
They are Glam Rock Gods and make great music that stands the test of time. Here in germany they had eight No. 1 hits! I think there are not many artists who can compare here.
Ahhhhhhhhh yessssssssssss, same for Fox on the Runs, Blockbuster and Ballroom Blitz 😛 I grew up with this music through my older brother and i am now 56, and like Kiss , Status Quo, Slade, , ACDC ; Creedence Clearwater ,Meat Loaf (R.I.P) and and and 🤪
Loved this group as a teenager, right from their first hit ...(so funny funny)Fantastic harmonies which other groups later copied. I still have many of their old vinyl singles and LPs from those days in the seventies.
The most exciting band on stage ever
Teen Ramp. and Hellraiser are my faves. Love them from my early years at school.
Bands like Sweet and all the other glam rockers of the 70's will never be repeated, I feel so privileged to have been in my prime then.
Greta Van Fleet have a 70s vibe and they are incredible live.
me too what a great time we had
I agree it's so unique we lived in a Renaissance

Never get tired of this Great Band.😊
the more you listen to SWEET the more you appreciate what a fantastic band they were 😎
Thats right! Sweet were great incredible Band. 😊👍

The brilliance of this band still shines through. Sweet rules; always did, always will.

Right from the beginning I knew Sweet was going to be BIG. I'm 62 & I still love them. None of their music sounds dated. Sweet were amazing!!!

She is drop dead gorgeous at beginning 😁
Agreed. That was Uschi Nerke, the original presenter of Musikladen until 1978. She also hosted Musikladen's predecessor Beat-Club for years.

Mick Tucker is one of the most under-rated Drummers
Nah, he's appropriately rated, which is not on any top 100 list of best drummers.
Dont you mean ..was
Hes not on any list because for some reason Sweet and Glam were never taken seriously ,yet Sweet and of course Slade could rock with the best of them ..Solid Tight and excellent musicians and front men

I can't stop playing this track, one of the best Glam tracks ever. And I was there back in the day but didn't realise how great the Sweet were!!
The Best Glam - Rock - Band FOREVER .Mythos - Brian ,Mick ,Steve and Andy !
This was a playback performance!!
Perfectly synchronous, even Mick's drums.
Absolutely amazing.
I was 18 when this came out. Great memories of a great decade of music. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍
Really glad I was a teenager in the 70s great music and the sweet were to me brilliant
The best! These guys created magic together. Will never be another band like them.
One of my Faves of Sweet!!! My Era of Music!!🤩😍🥰😍
Sweet ..... this was a great band (excellent glam rock!) great songs - and above all it was good to listen to!!!
Musikladen, Rockpalast & Beat Club, thank you for keeping the legacy of Rock & Rock on video & not wiped by the station money men.

Really good rock music. Among the best rock bands, my favorite has always been the early 70's. Thank you very much.👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻❤❤❤🙂
A rousing song by a special band that today still gives us wonderful sensations.
This is so cool ..Cant see how the people who gave this a thumbs down ..They need to clean out there ears ,,This is an awesome song ...
Maybe thumbs down because they were expecting a live performance? Idk
It's crap
People didn't hear them on the radio nor get to read about them, so they got fed what rolling stone magazine, or the local radio station promoted at the time!
I completely agree with you anybody that gives this band a thumbs-down needs to walk into oncoming traffic!!!
Anyone who gives thumbs down , is musically deaf and has no idea what great music is, The Sweet were amazing end of story
