I suggested this too. One of my favorites of his solo career. There is so much symbolism in the video. 1) the white feather that fell…..the feather was Roberts symbol while in Zeppelin. The fact that it was falling…he was putting Zeppelin behind him. 2) the school blackboard. After the death of his son, Robert almost left the band and became a teacher but was talked out of it by Bonzo, (Bonham) his best friend. Robert has said that he deals with tragedy by keeping moving. As he sings when he turns away from the blackboard (a different path he could have taken). “There is no turning back, on the run” It would be 30 years before Robert returned to live where he grew up and had his family. 3) The pool where he was swimming with the windows and someone knocking on them….He had lived his life while in Zeppelin in a “fishbowl” with little privacy. And by making the choice to continue his career, he was accepting that that would still be a part of it. This video was a darling of MTV and Plant was a frequent guest on that platform for interviews and to be a “guest VJ”. Those are just some I have noticed. I’m sure there were many others. I would love to know what picture he was tearing up. If it was a picture of Zeppelin, that would sure fit I believe they filmed this in Death Valley. And yes, if you travel in the desert and it’s 110 degrees or more, you’d best carry extra water for yourself….and your car.
The guitarist was Robbie Blunt, session guitarist who also would play with Tom Petty. Blunt would be in Roberts band for several years. Phil Collins (of Genesis) was on drums. Collins was on Plants first two albums and toured with him on his first solo tour. Robert, in his solo career, always surrounded himself with top-notch musicians, as you might expect.
The guitarist is Robbie Blunt. It appears the title came from an actual log they were wrestling with during the writing of this song. "'Big Log' was written in the middle of winter. We'd run out of fuel for the fire. We found the remains of an old tree lying outside, which was about 15 feet long, but had nothing to cut it with. So we put one end in the fire and slowly burnt it." As for the trope of the overheating car, I did actually experience that once as a child, riding with my mother across the desert on a hot day with the AC on. The pressure blew the radiator hose.
Check out the songs Robert did called “Burning Down One Side “, and “In The Mood”, big hits on Detroit’s FM radio. Shout out to the defunct WWWW ((:aka W4:)), WABX, and WRIF ((:The HOME of Rock and Roll:)), back when FM Radio was album oriented and worth one’s time and ears!
Now you've found Robert Plant's solo career, try other songs like Tall Cool One or White, Clean & Neat, Calling To You. Song styles still as varied as any he did with Zeppelin. Great reaction as usual
This was the very first video I ever watched on MTV. I remember being mesmerized by the music. It's still as hauntingly beautiful now as it was back then. Wow, thanks for the memory.
Robert had a great album ( s ) with country singer Alison Krauss . Definitely worth a listen. I think you’d both enjoy it. Totally different from anything else you associate with him
Love this song, thanks for the reaction. Also love the pure joy and excitement it brings to you both, thank you for sharing that with us all. In a way, we get to experience it for the first time all over again through your reaction. 🙏
I am so blessed and excited. My son is taking me to see Robert Plant in July! You really should check out his "If I Were A Carpenter ". It's amazing!!!!!!!!
Rob Plant lives about five miles from me, he has been known to visit the local pub and get up and sing, I met him one day in my local Co Op supermarket, I was checking out the Classic Rock magazine, and there was a piece in there on his new album Band of Joy, we started chatting and he said to me Look at this, or words to that effect 😂 he then said he's eaten all our food, drank all our beer and partied with us all week and he's slated our album, there was then a few more choice words, he heard about a lad with a brain tumour in town and set up a small concert for him, Fantastic Bloke not up his own arse like a lot of them. As with the band his solo work is Brillaint and varied always reinventing himself with different music paths. 🤘
In the old days you bought a square canvas bag of water to carry on the grill of the car across the desert. That way you could add fresh water to the radiator. I guess modern cooling fluid is better unless the hose breaks.
Robbie blunt the guitarist for Robs great solo career lived in the same town as I did Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We all new someone from zeppelin or Rob when we were growing up. My boss at work was Robs brother in law. Great 70s and 80s memories 🤘😎👍
Robert didn’t have the confidence to create or perform after the loss of John Bonham. He credits Phil Collins with giving him the encouragement the get back on the horse, and just to do what you do. Phil plays drums on that album called Pictures At Eleven.
And he gave encouragement to Rush (specially Lee and Lifeson) perform and record again after the death of Peart’s daughter and wife. Rush almost ended in 1997
FYI: Jimmy Page and Robert plant teamed up in 1998 and made a new album, "Walking Into Clarksdale." Something to eventually get around to. Robert also teamed up with Alison Kraus, a few years back, for "Raising Sand." Lots of good Robert Plant material since his time with Led Zepplelin. "Fate of Nations" is one of my favorite post-Zeppelin projects.
Back in 1983 i saw Robert Plant at the Forum of Montreal ! That was his first solo tour ! and only last year i discovered the show i saw is on UA-cam ! Yes ! the same show in Montreal ! So it s great i can watch the night i was there 41 years ago ! But more surprising is that i also learned who was the drummer ! I can t believe all those years, i never knew who was the drummer ! Well , you need to watch it and learn by yourself ! lol ! 😎
If I recall, the guitarist is Robbie Blunt. He's an extraordinary player with, what was at the time, a very unique guitar tone that all of us players quickly copied on our Fender Strats.
Robert is magnificent whether fronting Zeppelin or solo. I personally prefer the LZ sound but his voice crooning over beautiful guitar work is pretty amazing ❤
I've always loved this song and the guitar work. Straightforward slow to mid tempo blues-rock. The best of electric Stratocaster guitar, with a definite Spanish guitar accent thrown in. Very tasty! 🎸😎😉💖
Guys‼️‼️‼️ .. 🤨🤨🤨😆😆😆wake up ‼️‼️‼️hey hey …….over here OVER HERE. Are you okay now??🥹🥹 You were like🫠🫠🫠🫠 Good reaction Keep it up Little by little you ears are catching some different colors and NOISES 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I saw him on the Now and Zen tour with Steve Winwood in a 2500 seat theater, it was amazing, both guys killed it. You should do Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys by Traffic (Winwood).
Robert said that after Zeppelin he didn't wanna play off their fame. You may however notice all the references to his Zeppelin days. Black dog, his feather logo, etc.
Robert's solo stuff, particularly on this album was a departure from Zeppelin's guitar riff driven sound. That said, there's plenty of his solo stuff with echos of Led Zep. Try listening to 'Slow Dancer' or 'Calling to You'.
This could have been a LED ZEPPELIN song. When Andre said “bonnet “ I lol. When driving around in the desert sometimes you have to check under the hood. ❤
OMG OMG OMG!!! YAY! **Luvit** YOU both are SO **Wonderful** ha makes my **Day** when you react to ANYthing **MyBelovedLedZeppelin** even when it IS their solo careers BUT now that ya have listened to one of **Robert Plants** i do **Hope** you will also listen/watch sometime to **MyBeautifulJimmyPageMagicalWizardBabe** solo career one & well My **Most** favorite by him is **Satisfaction Guaranteed** & in that you get 2 for 1 cuz also **Paul Rodgers** from **Bad Company** is the vocalist for **MyJimmyPageWizardBabe** in his band after **LedZeppelin** called **The Firm** Thank YOU ever so! **PixieHugz&Luvz**
the cars overheat cause a lot were muscle cars. I had a Hornet V8 1970 that had a big warning sign on the dashboard to not exceed 60/mi/hr and the radiators were just too ratty to do the job and they overheat quickly esp in 35-40 deg. heat. In those days the coolant liquid wasn't around.
I saw Robert Plant on this tour, and he was outstanding - I never understood "charisma" until then
Rob's solo work goes deep and is amazing. You could do all of his albums really. lol Thank you for reaction!
Always "In the Mood" for a Robert Plant melody he never disappoints
Great tune 🎉
ROBERT PLANT. SEA OF LOVE.
the band call it The Honeydrippers. Robert Plant was the singer, Jimmy Page play the guitar.
@@antoniocarlin5026 29 Palms
Every phone I've had in past 10 or more years still has BIG LOG on my playlist.
"29 Palms" is also a great Plant song.
Don't worry I have felt the same since I was 14. Now 65. Robert's voice gives me chills till this day. 😊
I suggested this too. One of my favorites of his solo career.

@@lancerx1759 thanks!
Beautiful song. The courage after all his tragedies to keep going was so commendable. Thank God he carried on and gave us so many more great songs.
The guitar in this song gives me chills. It is beautiful ❤️

You pair are just fantastic 😊😊😊
This is my favorite solo song of his.
Another wonderful song from his solo career is Ship of Fools. Also another very cool official video.
I'm 59 and I've seen him 27 times since the end of Zeppelin. He's my favorite artist. Believe me next time he's in Chicago I'll be there frt. Row

"There's no turning back on the run"... The Big Log, like a trucker logging the miles...
His charisma shines through even without optics. Mr. Plant is amazing!
These two appreciate lyrical artistry.

This was in the 80's when this came out so MTV was popular so about every song 🎵 had a Video to go with the songs so MTV could play ▶️
Great Solo Robert Plant. ❤
He has 40 years of solo music for you to react to. Buckle Up it's going to be a great ride.

I've always been partial to these hypnotic type songs. This is a great example of that style. As you said, great driving song!
If I recall, the guitarist is Robbie Blunt. He's an extraordinary player with, what was at the time, a very unique guitar tone that all of us players quickly copied on our Fender Strats.
Good song thx for sharing your thoughts!
I loved Plant's solo work as much or more than his LZ work TBH
You must listen to in the mood on that album
Love this song. Has a haunting feel to it.
You guys made my Sunday, thank you so much.
Robert is magnificent whether fronting Zeppelin or solo. I personally prefer the LZ sound but his voice crooning over beautiful guitar work is pretty amazing ❤
You must hear Slow Dancer from his first album....mesmerizing
Robbie Blunt was on guitar. Phil Collins on drums.
Slow Dancer caught my attention most on this first album. Heavy Rock!
Best driving song ever recorded (IMO) but be careful, you’ll find yourself speeding down the road and hypnotized!
Love California Mojave Desert
Love this song!! It's desert hot, no humidity!
“ 29 Palms “, with video. You’ll love it!

So much 80's Robert Plant to choose from. Don't forget to look for The Honey Drippers.
I saw him on the Now and Zen tour with Steve Winwood in a 2500 seat theater, it was amazing, both guys killed it. You should do Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys by Traffic (Winwood).
The stringed instrument sounded like a banjo.
Robert said that after Zeppelin he didn't wanna play off their fame. You may however notice all the references to his Zeppelin days. Black dog, his feather logo, etc.
Got any clue about the photograph he was tearing up?
I'm not for sure, but I believe the guitar is most likely a Fender Telecaster. Great reaction as usual.
Robert Plant -I’m in the mood next pleade

Robert's solo stuff, particularly on this album was a departure from Zeppelin's guitar riff driven sound. That said, there's plenty of his solo stuff with echos of Led Zep. Try listening to 'Slow Dancer' or 'Calling to You'.
Yeah, Slow Dancer could easily be a Zeppelin song!

Mr Robbie Blunt on guitar 🎸 for this track.

Quite different than 10 years earlier at Madison Square Garden right? But cool to see how he evolved!
