There are tons of oil filter change videos on YT, but yours is one of the best. Great video angles, graphics, and explanation, earned a new subscriber, keep up the good work!
Thats cool at 13:27 with my headphones I'm able to hear the RPMs automatically start climbing as a result of the engine oil management. Really cool tool BMW incorporates
Glad I watched your video for the crush washer part. I was confused why the crush washer didn’t come off and checked everywhere and couldn’t find it and turned out it was stuck on the bottom of the drain hole good. Saw you pried it off with the bolt and did the same, it came off just like that. I’d probably double washered it hadn’t I saw you doing that 😂😂
Triax Euro lv, 0w-30, PAO only. Way to go. I use Triax 5w-40 in my f250, excellent oils results from Blackstone for years... looking forward to getting my oil results For the bmw soon.
0W-20 probably not a great choice (too thin), BMW only selected it to help with USA Cafe standards, something heavier would be better for engine longevity, in Europe (where Cafe is not a concern) BMW recommends LL04 5w-30 or 5W-40 for the B58
@@TheLPCGAMING Really, why do all the B58 manuals from all the countries that don't have CAFE standards recommend thicker viscosities? There is a difference between "being able to tolerate 0W-20" and "being designed for 0W-20". How many engines have you raced, rebuilt, torn down? If you think 0W-20 is a good idea in any kind of high powered turbo charged engine sorry but you obviously don't have the experience to know what you're talking about.
I diy brakes, filters, spark plugs but for the oil I always take it in to the dealership. I find it's good for the dealer to lookover the car and confirm any additional issues I suspected, or! No issues at all. I usually find dealship online ad specials for thr oil. Lol like this weekend has a back to school special. $50 oil change on all cars including m340i. Lol no m3's though. Still a good video though!
Worst idea to have not known what kind of oil the dealership put in your engine. Nothing compares to fresh oil from the jug. Make sure they do t put any recycled or conventional oil in your engine. Just sayin.
I’ve got a bmw 335i 07 roughly shaking on idle and when put into drive or reverse would you have any suggestions to what it might be? already changed spark plugs, coils and injector seals
The oil guy on youtube did an oil analysis on his Toyota because they are now using 0W-8 and he sent that in and it actually gives BETTER wear protection that the 0W-20 that was used previously but stuff has the consistency of water. Can't judge oil on how runny it is.......
Great video!! I like your wheels soooooooo much!!!! Could you please give me a link for them or just tell me the name? I wanna buy the same wheels!!!! Thank you a lot !!
If you do that on a new BMW, then BMW won’t change the oil since you get the free three years of general maintenance. So I just do it at 5k then take it into the dealer at 10k.
I have a question about your oil choice I of course use Liqui Molly and think that their oil is top notch but by going in for the free annual oil change won’t bmw use the Castrol oil and how does that alternating oil help or hurt long term engine performance.
It is an easy job when all goes well. The real fun starts when the oil filter falls apart as you unscrew the lid. It is pretty common due to the design being poor.
@ranmas2004 it's mainly for fuel efficiency, Germany uses 30weight due to the autobahn. So if driving hard or tuned a 0 or 5w30 is best. Manual says up to 40w
Thanks guys for checking out my B58 DIY oil change video! Appreciate the support 🙏🏻
What rims are you running if you mind me asking?

You helped me out a lot on the n54 platform I have a 340 so I’m excited you got a B58 now
always lube your o ring with some oil before you put it on! If you dont it could melt into the housing from the heat of the oil
the very clear close up shots on this DIY make it easier to understand the small details. thx.

Or they could just use a dipstick…

FCP Euro is the BEST!!! Prices, selection and shipping are great. So jealous of your garage setup!
0w20 oil is good when its -40 celsius here in scandinavia
There are torque specs for both @ 25 Nm - why guess?

Any recommended brands? Probably going to try Liqui moly.
Yeah I know, have been running 5w-40 in my other turbo BMW’s for 10 years now, kept it to stock weight for this DIY
Not even true, B58 tolerances are designed for 0W-20 for fuel economy and efficiency. Only recommended if motor is modified

@@WillJ_0122 Liqui Moly Top Tec 4200 5W30 has the Long Life 01 FE BMW certification so it's probably the best choice.

Can you do oil changes with an extractor from the top on a B58? Love doing that on my S4 and would like to continue if I pick up an m340
No dipstick tube so no.
You could get a Valvomax valve for it to make changes easier.
Wish the car had a front central jack point to make lifting for oil changes easier.
Nice video Lee. Is the metric size of that oil filter socket 32mm? Dutch regards, Nico.
Loving that lift. Which one is that one and where you get it at?
The video at 1:24 has a name tag for the lift as "Quickjack". I found two on Amazon. Don't know which model.
Great video! Question - where did you get that garage flooring? That is epic!
RaceDeck floor tiles amzn.to/45mLZBB
if i have a bm3 tune and catless downpipe do you still recommend same oil or should i go thicker oil?
I’ve got a bmw 335i 07 roughly shaking on idle and when put into drive or reverse would you have any suggestions to what it might be? already changed spark plugs, coils and injector seals
Not sure if you got this taken care of but i just had this issue in my 2019 330 it was a broken motor mount !
Do you have any oil consumption issues with 0W-20? Heard folks switch to 0W-30 to prevent oil consumption...
Do you have any?
Thank you for you sharing, Nice DIY video!
What lift tool is that?
at how many miles should you change your oil if you got a brand new bmw from the dealer 1k?
Use amsoil oil, much better than liquid molly. Project farm did a thing

0W-20 oil looks like apple juice. other countries use 5W-30 LL01

hello from Columbus fellow Ohioan!

Where can I get this whole car lift setup? Thanks!
QuickJack 6000ELX setup

Never posted the link for the oil kit :/
What is your oil change interval? Thanks.
5k miles
@@BMWFanaticdoes it use any oil
Nice job 👍
Great vid! It needs a exhuast ASAP!
It sure does!
That jack is so cool. I didn’t know that kind existed
What about iDrive update for service record ?

@@BMWFanatic but what if you are past the 3 years of general maintenance ?
Amsoil signature is the way to go..
Did you ever install your catch can?
Yep, diy is out there
thank for your sharing 👍👍👍👍
Please BMW give us a proper dipstick, it is far easier and more reliable.

Link to buy the quick jacks?
There are a lot of different models, but this one is the 6000ELX on www.quick jack.com
Is liqui Molly better than bmw oil?
BMW oil is just rebranded, which I believe they go through Shell for their oil. Nothing wrong with it honestly
I’ve been using liqui-moly oil since 2016 on my N54, M5 and now my M340i and it has been great :)
@@BMWFanatic thanks for the feedback 👍
that's a bad ass sedan . do you still have your n54
Of course!
how much oil goes in ? In Liter
About 6.5 liters

This oil change is simple I do my oil change on my Toyota but my filter is metal it’s funny seeing that German filter is plastic
Where did you get your shirt sir? lol
Amazon! Here it is

@@BMWFanatic Thank you!
And dealerships are charging $250 for that???! Yea I’m doing it myself lol
two points: you over torqued(by hand) the drain plug.; 0W20 never smart.
He should have stated the torque spec it's actually 25nm
It’s not over torqued
0w20 is just the standard weight for it
0w20 is labeled under the hood.
Whats so NOT smart about using 0W-20 (the recommended oil by manufacturer)?
@ranmas2004 it's mainly for fuel efficiency, Germany uses 30weight due to the autobahn. So if driving hard or tuned a 0 or 5w30 is best. Manual says up to 40w
0w20 🙄🙄 to the B58 m340i ... total bullshit ... for ecology is fine ... for long health of your car not .. think about 0w30 .... peacefully 5w40 ....
