Not often I watch a UA-cam video that I have a permanent smile on my face. Everyone needs a Katie in their life to pull them through. Loved this one mate, nice work.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it - the Catalina was not a jet, it was a two piston engined flying boat used by Coastal Command in WW2. Yes, I am am aviation nerd. And cyclist.
Nice file & all my memories came flooding back. I completed the Hebridean Way last weekend, train to Tyndrum then cycled to Oban for the ferry. Wild camped the whole trip - completed Hebridean way in 2 days. Cycled back to Ullapool via ferry from Stormoway. Big ride from Ullapool to Fort William completed by circuit. Awesome countryside and amazing yet quite beeches.
Thanks for the memories... wish there had of been a pizza container stop in 1988 when I cycled the Hebridean Way. I remember the midges. And cycling up the hill out of Tabet in pouring rain, then the mist on top. But it was so totally different to cycling in Australia. Completely different landscape, and cycling through it gives you a great appreciation.
I've been intrigued by the idea of cycling in the Hebrides since learning that some of my ancestors emigrated from Lewis to Canada in 1851. These days though, in my senior years, my style would be one of staying in B&Bs and taking day trips on an electric bike. Watching you two battle rain, winds, steep climbs and midges brought back memories of how tough this type of travel is. It was great to watch it vicariously from the comfort of my home, though I could feel your pain! Your videography and story telling were great. Well done! And Katie is definitely a keeper!
It was great to meet you too. I’m glad my video has a positive influence on your trip to the Hebrides. I’ll also note to put Switzerland on the long list of places to tour.
Thanks for the show. We also did ride the hebridean way a few days ago and we do undertand you fully when it comes to mixed pleasures of nice beaches under the sun and rainshowers at the same day.
Just found this gem of a post. LOVE the drone footage and you're reflections, good and frustrating. Katie was a lovely highlight to it all as well. Made my afternoon.... Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Never saw any of your videos before, but I love biking and loved this videos. You are also very lucky to have someone with a great attitude who is always laughing.
That is really the hardest part of biketouring - making room in your calendar. Oh, and not not quitting half way... I liked the format of the video with a companion a lot.
While being stuck on the couch last summer (down under) with a broken ankle, one of the few pleasures was reading Tamsin Calides' enthralling book 'I am an Island', which I recommend if you are captivated by the Hebrides. Thank you for your fun tour, the Hebridean Way is firmly on my bucket list now of must do bikepacking adventures around the world.
Watching this one definitely makes me miss home. West coast of Scotland. I now live in the PNW of the United States. Next time I’m home I should attempt something like this! Cheers!
Thanks for that, guys! As a Lewisman living in Tokyo, it was nice to see some familiar places and enjoy the experience with you. Looking forward to your next trip.
Now then lad. Great to see you back on a bike again. It's good to see that you've not lost your filming and editing skills. Plus, the narration and storytelling remain first class. JP
Nice film, I plan to cycle the full GB coastline this year, think you just convinced me to include the islands too, and to get a gopro to capture the beauty. Can I borrow a Katie 😉
Hi Adam & Katie , well done ! Did Lewis to BARRA a few years ago against the wind (wrong ) , then Coll & Tiree , a few years later. Hope to do your trip this year going north to Lewis then the Stornaway ferry. Love your backing music.....cheers ,DaveH
Thank you for taking us on your amazing journey Adam and Katie. Absolutely gorgeous, even with the rain! Oooooh, loved the Pizza :) Well done!! Dave from down-under
An amazing journey, I want to do this early next year, i just completed the nc500 so this has to be next on the list. Looked like you had an amazing time (apart from the rain of course) keep those legs spinning 🏴
So happy to see you back on your bike! You inspired me to go bike touring and make videos as a fellow northerner - to the extent that I cycled JOGLE and i'm making videos about it right now! Nice one Adam.
awesome video guys. Thank you. I'm travelling from my home in nz, and am going to do the hebridean way with a friend, by bike. I'll take my rain gear. tee hee. Kiaora.
Great vlog, just found your channel and are currently going through all your back catalogue of video's. They are all so well made, very cinematic, brilliant music, funny and very professional comentry. What really comes across is probably the best part is the people you meet on the routes. I think it's so cool that our lives cross with other people, sometimes for only a short time but those memories can stay with you for a lifetime. We are just about to cycle the Way of the Roses which is so small compared to what you have done but suppose you have to start somewhere. Looking forward to watching more of your travels. Best wishes Graeme + Elaine🚲😀
@@AdamHugill Thanks very much that's very kind of you but we've got all our accommodation pre-booked. Just rode from Settle to Ripon today, fantastic views and quite a few hills!! Can't beat Yorkshire for cycling. All the best Graeme.🚲☀️👍
Amazing to see another cycling tour video Adam! You inspired my wife and I to upload our adventures just like yourself and we are so grateful for that. You guys look so happy and like you're having a great time! All the best out there! 🚴♀️🚴🏼♂️
Good to see the wheels turning again! We just got done with an 18 day streak of daily rain … “I don’t like the rain” either. Rode the Denali Highway this summer … you need to come back and give it a go.
Loving this guys! It's great to see you both out and about! What a beautiful trip! Thanks for sharing. Adam, your hair looks glorious! You're a silver lion. 😂
@@AdamHugill I'm looking forward to seeing more "out and abouts" in the future matey 👍 if you happen to be in HU7 Kingswood area or just generally EY let me know - we'll have a brew!
I do not follow a huge amount of Channels / People on here but ? Am more than willing to chew up data watching this bloke / Katie You have done well. 20 minutes in and you still haven't lost your drone 😂 Good to see you back on the road mate. Good for the soul. Look after 💥🥊💥
We did a lot of this by car in 2022 so biking it would be no mean feat as there's plenty of huge inclines. Great video, well produced but mostly enjoyable. North Coast 500 next?
Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us (the world).... I am planning my own journey around Europe in 2025 or 2026 through having seen other ordinary people doing extraordinary _inspiring_ things like this
Good to see you back, Adam! Islands are always amazing, aren’t they? I did 700km touring major islands of Estonia this year and it was great, but this is just - wow! I am definitely adding Scottish archipelagos to my bucket list, although this point may be hard to achieve…
Many thanks Adam and Katie - cheerful commentary, and interesting too, great scenery - in short, very enjoyable.. I have returned to watch the video again (it’s still enjoyable) to try to answer a question - so, if I may ask, ‘Katie has her own UA-cam channel, hasn’t she? Could you tell me the name of the channel please?’ (I hope I’m right - am sure I have seen her in a cycle touring video, but can’t find that video again.)
@@AdamHugill Mmmm, thanks Adam (so saying with an embarrassed face) - it must have been one of your vidros from which I gained the impression she had her own channel - apologies for the mix-uo. Nevertheless, many thanks for your videos - they are always interesting and enjoyable to watch.
I really loved watching your video. I am planning to so this route this summer. Do you know how it is possible to go to Inverness or Oban after finishing the route? It is really difficult to find some usefull information on the internet. Greetings from Austria☀️☀️.
