    I was excited with anticipation to see the results as you described at the beginning of the video. Crazy of "gift receiving" it feels. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you for watching. Kiln results are the best even when there's fails. Always something to learn.

    So true about keeping ‘seconds’ why don’t we keep perfect pieces, we deserve them! 😃

    Hi, another great kiln opening. At the end of the video you mentioned adding glass to the pieces. How did you do that process?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому +1

      I'll sometimes add broken bits of glass or those glass beads you find at craft stores. They melt like crazy in the kiln. They aren't food safe, so I only add them to nobs or on pieces not meant for food.

      @@hobblecreekpottery thank you for answering. So the glass can go in with the glaze firing? It isn't a separate firing like a lustre is?

    Obsidian clay who is the maker ? Does it is made with manganese?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it has lots of manganese in it and I get it from Aardvark.

      @@hobblecreekpottery thank you I just asked because I love black clay, but I just found it is not safe to fire at home, just look for safe data for that clay. The one sales near me you can not be in the room when it is fire, even with Envirovent and have to air the room for 2 days before you go inside to empty the kiln. The clays with higher manganese is not even safe for use in the kitchen or microwave 🤗

    Why would there be stress cracks on the bottom of your dip platter? Happened to me also - how could you avoid it?

    What did you use for glass at the bottom of these little dishes?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  2 роки тому

      Used just broken bits from blue, green, and clear bottles.
