Since we started building out Thor’s Hammer Woodworking Mallets 2-1/2 years ago, there has been a constant request to build one with a head that has more than one species in it. For this Christmas, we decided to do just that.
We are also incorporating some exotic species into these that have never been in our mallets before. We hope you enjoy some of the combinations. And, if you want one for yourself, you can now have one!

I don't know what Jointer Push Blocks you are Talking about...
@@KingsFineWoodworking He's talking about the ones you mentioned in the beginning James ;)
🤣😂🤣
pro trick: watch movies on Kaldrostream. Been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
Hey James. Just want to say “thank you” for all you do. I’ve downloaded several of your plans and watched tons of your videos. You are my “go to” guy on UA-cam for all things wood working. Your explanations are crystal clear, your plans are perfect (and super affordable - unlike some others on the internet), and your family is precious. I feel like most of what I have learned I learned from you. Thank you so much for your generous sharing of your knowledge with us wannabes. You da man!
They all came out AWESOME !!!!! Like the way the whole family participates
Great to see your daughters working with you!
Absolutely beautiful mallets! Impressive assembly line you’ve got going as well. You’ve got a great team there!
Bought a full set last year and can vouch for the quality. One year on and they still look like new.
Absolutely beautiful. I'm glad you decided to go with combination wood species. Does make it harder to decide on which one(s) to get. Really like how your family teams up for these projects. Very special.
Those woods are beautiful! You matched them up perfectly to compliment each other as well.
Awesome craftsmanship. It's great getting the family involved

Your quality and attention to detail is what I aspire towards as a woodworker.

That padauk and wenge with the maple stringers is calling my name! lol

I wonder if my wife would like one or 2 of those for Christmas! Or maybe I just watch this video over and over when she is around so she gets the hint.

Love the mallets. What I would really like to see is a better shot of the miter saw table. I need to build one of those for me. Thanks
Hi Lesley, I made a video on the entire build of it. ua-cam.com/video/9R-gxG9FCMc/v-deo.html

( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) King's Fine Woodworking.....
Was disappointed that you didn’t show us make this
Next time make the mallet blanks a bit bigger still, then you can do a clean up
Cut so that purpose is still there, and then one more pass and get a set of coasters to go with each mallet.
im in love im have build my self one
WOW! The King Family wows us again. Thank YOU. 😘
I’ve ordered my lacewood mallet. Which wood do you recommend for the handle?
EVERYONE, Kings’ Fine Woodworking has an awesome Facebook Community. You really do want to join today, right after you order your mallet.
Hi Barbara, I think the Leopardwood handle goes awesome with it. The grain characteristics are very similar to Lacewood, although they are a bit smaller which is fitting for the handle. And the color is similar.
King's Fine Woodworking
Can you please change my order?🤪🤪🤪 I selected Wenge, cuz I didn’t know but I wanted to get my order in. Thanks for your advice and kindness.
I’ll change it right now for you. 😁👍🏻
This is like being an addict and watching them make drugs but never being able to have any. Terrible torture. Glorious results! I don't have a need because I am no longer doing that kind of work but I still admire a fine tool. You and Young Je keep me drooling.
Now to clean up those 1/8 offcut rips and glue them up into a crazy mallet. It would be more glue than wood but it'd look cool.
Where is the lace wood sourced from? Looks like She-Oak to me.
They would make awesome veneer for small projects
3:30 I looked on Andy Klein's UA-cam page and could not find that hold down tool for the jointer. I would LOVE to see how they were built. Those Thor's Hammer mallets look AMAZING too!!!! I really enjoy how you bring your family into your shop and your videos. I have yet to see another UA-camr who does this as often as you do.
My guess is the patent is pending.
@@ihavethreesons21 After I inquired about this here, I asked Andy Klein about it in his most recent video. His response was " Thanks for letting me know but as of right now I haven’t taken that one any further"
Beautiful work. They turned out great. Awesome to see your whole family working together on this. And wow you found some great exotic boards for these. Where did you find your exotics?
You showoff! They're beautiful.
I just made an egg holder rack using some Patagonia Rosewood (also called Curupau). INSANELY hard to work with but it is beautiful.
Dude! Nice video! My wood shop teacher had us watch a video that you made of our choice and I picked this one! It is soooo interesting on how this all works! I will most likely buy something from your store. I subscribed btw. Nice vid! 😃
Hi James, I watched your video as I need to make a mallet for own use, your ones look amazing such beautiful coloured types of wood, especially when they are mixed together, I love Padouk and maple together, they always go well together, never used wengi before but I must look into it 😁👍 I am near Katowice in Poland and there is a wood supplier near to me which specializes in exotic lumber only from Asia, South America and Africa, you cannot just get Maple or Oak, they only sell exotic like Padouk, Billinga, Azobe and Bosse and several more wood types, they are beautiful but they come at a price 😳🙄
I have just clicked the like button 👍 and subscribed too 👍
Pozdrawiam
Glen 😁👍
Simply beautiful work and great video. Question, when working with padauk and a light wood, such as maple, how do you control the bleeding and color contamination from the padauk onto the maple?
Hi just discovered your channel and there are some excellent and informative uploads. Can I ask do you intend uploading a video of the jig you used for cutting the angle on the hammer heads. I’ve looked through all your videos and can’t see it. Keep up the content - Thank You
very nice love the different woods tighter how do you get plans for them push blocks
Hi free plans here:
kingsfinewoodworking.com/collections/project-plans-for-sale/products/table-saw-push-stick-measured-drawing-free
😍😍😍😍
Do you have plans to make the jointer hold down clamps? 😃
Where do you buy all those great exotic wood species?
Whoa!!!! What happened to the Bosch?
Great job! Could you please share what that "hot" product is on the finish? Some kind of wax? Thanks!
Peter Uribe, hi! They are bars made by Hut. And they are simply called Hut Dark Bar, and Hut Satin Gloss Bar. I get them from Hut directly because it’s the cheapest source.
www.hutproducts.com/products.asp?dept=54
But you can also buy them from Woodcraft. They remove all apparent scratches and really polish up a finish.
Hi, beautifull wooden mallets un Colombia de dont have a lot of colores. Is possible to send one to Colómbia. Best regards
excellent work. do you put lacquer on the handles as well? or just the wax on the lathe?
The handles are sanded and then lacquered.
I would like to buy a couple of them. Could you explain to me how I do it?
Just getting into woodworking with exotic wood types.. can I ask where you get your supply from? We have a store called rockler that has those types of wood but looking to order from somewhere else… I love the way your mallets turned out..
Hi there big hugs and kisses from Kuwait 🇰🇼 ..am wondering if it's possible to make Lignum Vitae full size mallet anymore? Keep the good job up and i hope you and your family are doing just well🙏👍
Very nice. What is the wood that is red in color?
Do you use Ziricote wood at all? I don’t see you mention it at all and it is a beautiful grained wood as well. I enjoy your detailed videos and the beautiful finished products. I purchased you Thor hammer plans but I only saw one size in the plans. What are the other sizes if I want to make the smaller versions? Thank you for your great work.
What's up with your miter saw dust collection? Seems like it wasn't on?
Hi from Pittsburgh as soon as I seen this I wrestled with my thoughts for aprox 30 secs, I work hard, I want bad I just got a small bonus at work & the “ coodagraw“
