Since we started building out Thor’s Hammer Woodworking Mallets 2-1/2 years ago, there has been a constant request to build one with a head that has more than one species in it. For this Christmas, we decided to do just that.
We are also incorporating some exotic species into these that have never been in our mallets before. We hope you enjoy some of the combinations. And, if you want one for yourself, you can now have one!
Things we used for this project:
    Tools:
Festool Kapex Sliding Miter Saw - amzn.to/3DvoCdC

Hey James. Just want to say “thank you” for all you do. I’ve downloaded several of your plans and watched tons of your videos. You are my “go to” guy on UA-cam for all things wood working. Your explanations are crystal clear, your plans are perfect (and super affordable - unlike some others on the internet), and your family is precious. I feel like most of what I have learned I learned from you. Thank you so much for your generous sharing of your knowledge with us wannabes. You da man!

Next time make the mallet blanks a bit bigger still, then you can do a clean up
Cut so that purpose is still there, and then one more pass and get a set of coasters to go with each mallet.

Hi Barbara, I think the Leopardwood handle goes awesome with it. The grain characteristics are very similar to Lacewood, although they are a bit smaller which is fitting for the handle. And the color is similar.

Hi James, I watched your video as I need to make a mallet for own use, your ones look amazing such beautiful coloured types of wood, especially when they are mixed together, I love Padouk and maple together, they always go well together, never used wengi before but I must look into it 😁👍 I am near Katowice in Poland and there is a wood supplier near to me which specializes in exotic lumber only from Asia, South America and Africa, you cannot just get Maple or Oak, they only sell exotic like Padouk, Billinga, Azobe and Bosse and several more wood types, they are beautiful but they come at a price 😳🙄
I have just clicked the like button 👍 and subscribed too 👍

Peter Uribe, hi! They are bars made by Hut. And they are simply called Hut Dark Bar, and Hut Satin Gloss Bar. I get them from Hut directly because it’s the cheapest source.
      www.hutproducts.com/products.asp?dept=54
But you can also buy them from Woodcraft. They remove all apparent scratches and really polish up a finish.
