Mad respect for both brands for sticking to sedans, both cars are amazing
Still after years,Fiat Linea is as long these cars, had 185mm ground clearance with one of the best handling, and turbo petrol too with 125bhp! Although I bought A Honda city ivtec in December, but still Linea was way ahead of every other sedan in that era

We had to say goodbye to ours (multijet) just because of the pathetic service from Tata (initially) and Fiat exclusive was not better either!
What do you feel about sunny diesel variant .
Not to mention the vault-like build quality of the Linea. You felt that the car could punch through a rock if needed.

I own city 5th gen and get mileage of around 11 12 in city(stay in heavily traffic area) and 18+ in highway.
Never faced issues with ground clearance. I intentionally tested in bad patches and high speed breakers with 4 adults.
Butter smooth engine and ivtec roar is pleasant to the ears.
Only downside I felt is the sound system which could have been slightly improved and the rear camera.
I personally own a city, No offence the old cars in the family - Ford ikon , Lancer and the Old baleno offers much better back seat comfort than the new city . Probably cos they are heavy . My mom prefers the old Baleno when we have to travel to our native villages .

Is it manual?
A fair comparison would be when one includes the pricing too for eg the top model City CVT Zx comes at around 18.change where as the Skoda Slavia is around 21 change on road. The 1.5 Slavia is miles ahead and also pricey , the sunroof comes in the VX model of the city which is 16 change on road where as the Slavia gives the sunroof at 18 on road with a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine , both models automatic ofcourse. Honda offers more value for money and durability with a 1.5 4 cylinder engine , maybe these things won't matter when new but as time goes by a better Engine with an extra cylinder will be more lasting and durable. Hondas maintenance will definitely be less than the Slavias. Its a personal choice ultimately but if one goes for sensibilities than looks then City would be more apt . To each his own.
Nicely explained. The burden of turbo on a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine will be felt by the owner only after a few thousand kilometres and by that time, it will be too late to regret.

Exactly, if it feels cheap just call it cheap. No need to invent new words to justify something inferior. But they have to please their sponsors too.
Of course . Skoda make excellent cars. But City is tried & tested product for years. Almost all City owners are happy with their car. City is fun to drive car, extremely comfortable, refined engine. Honda reliability and assurance. Skoda a typical German car. That is th difference. Both are good. But City is a level up than Skoda.
City and fun to drive ? Lagta teri neend ab tak udi nahi jag jag ! Hahaha jokes apart bruh u haven't experienced Slavia in real life, experience it and then comment about the fun to drive factor. I'm not saying city is bad but in terms of build quality, driveability, gc and comfort too Skoda's Slavia is a balanced product while city is more focused towards comfort
Ahem..it's quite the opposite, Germans are ahead of Honda and other Japanese manufacturers...having many generations doesn't make the car good....Honda & skoda both have similar reliability scores..and almost all customers of both the brands are satisfied with whatever purchase they make..plus don't put BS in comments when u ain't know 🦠💨💨

I never tried skoda slavis but I have city 5th genration manual.believe me it is excellent.ride comfort and driving dynamics are very good.smooth going .yes it is not such car to drive fast but very relaxing
I personally like slavia and virtus but Mileage of Honda city in city is around 13-14 and on highway around 17 -18 so in terms of mileage city beats skavia ..petrol prizes are increasing day by day so city is good choice..price of city is also on lower side ..also mid varient of city have sunroof

0 to 100 should have been of 1.0 litre skoda. 1.5 litre skoda is much more expensive than the city.

It was earlier but now they've worked on it and u also get a warranty of 6 years for DSG gearbox so there won't be any problem.

Gear throws in 5th gen City are definitely not shorter... If you drive a Maruti/Nexa and come to this you feel the need to put more effort but tall gear ratios and slick shifts feel great 👌🏻
honda city for the vtec. provided the 1.5 tsi is under 18 onroad
If u buy a car above 15 lakhs, u shouldn't care about mileage...and the tsi is under 18 cuz of the performance...if u need performance u can't get mileage & vice versa

I was same few years back...it all starts this way for hard workers
for those saying that the DSG can/t feel jerky, just try the city once. CVT smoothness cant be matched by any DSG. this may be a good DSG, it will give good performance but it can never match the smoothness of a CVT.

@@pizmos.this DQ200 DSG is a dry clutch unit anyways. And dry clutches are not suitable for Indian conditions . Hence , a CVT outlasts DSGs.

Proudly owning Slavia after lot of research!! 1 litre torque converter is both smooth n fun to drive in city n highway. Better built with a swag !! Honda City missed by a small margin .

I own city and my friend owns slavia intially I also though about slavia but if you see long term city is cheap in maintenance and spare parts cost u know of slavia it is costlier and honestly I drive most of rides in highway I get always 19+ satisfied with this car

U compared 1.5 turbo vw to na 1.5 in 0-100kmph test!! When compared to price gap is 4 lakh ( slavia is pricey) u should compare city ehev with 1.5 from vw

I am very confused. I personally prefer NA over TC because in city Turbo charger offers pathetic fuel efficiency. Also I like gradual (non surgy) acceleration. I prefer linear acceleration but interiors of Slavia are something else. So I am literally confused. I think I should take test drive soon.

Not sure about Slavia's quality but if I compare Honda's build quality to pre MQB A0 IN VAG cars, it simply feels like a trash can.
Slavia any day. There is no match for the driving dynamics, the stability on high speeds, the performance of 1.5TSI paired with lightning quick DSG. Even if I was given a choice between 1.0TSI vs 1.5 NA, I would rather choose 1.0TSI
Slavia has galvanized steel body not like rusty iron body on city
Honda City has more Natural Aspirated engine which is reliable and family oriented with good comfort for elderly. Better customer service.

I admit city has a rev happy engine but it's not sportier than Slavia by any chances

Skoda was known for its build quality but Slavia is a localised car made for India of which 97% parts is produced in India...So there is definitely cost cutting everywhere in the car...If skoda was so confident with its build quality...why has it not crash tested like Honda and Tata do before launch? Only 2 airbags in 2 variants? You get 4 airbags in base and 6 airbags in mid variants on City 5th which just shows the branda priority... Comparison of Rapid and city 5th never made sense as rapid was almost 3/4th the size of City and was dated with almost nothing inside... Features distribution shows brands purpose of the launch...with Slavia, looks like Skoda want's all to buy the style variant as almost 50% of the features are only available in the top end variant
@@mrperfect971 1.5 TSI style model costs 22 lakhs in Bangalore so not a match in any sense...even the top end ZX CVT comes for 18lakhs... Paying 4 lakhs just for the engine for a CVT version is only not foolish if budget is ever the concern...

When u offer higher ground clearance in a sedan, it means u have ruined the car, compromised stability.
Acceleration is higher in salvia, but the city is unmatched at the top speed.
