+MightyMinions lmao i dont think they were both women drivers either! Still, i've never done that but as GeXExtremist says i have nearly done it, it can easily be done, aspecially on older roads wher markings are worn lol
I would take that info about dsg boxes being good for only 60k miles with a large pinch of salt. They are very popular on the drag racing scene because of their ability to handle obscene amounts of power even in stock form. From all accounts, they are pretty bulletproof.
I think I'm as happy as you were watching this! Really could tell you were chuffed picking your 'R' up, I'm considering getting one or an M135i by the end of the year but really don't know which one yet, hopefully you're enjoying it today as much as you were here picking it up!
I love the car even more after driving it more and getting used to the toys. Test drive both cars. Whichever one you prefer, buy it! If you're still it sure, try test driving the Audi s3, the new type r and the a45amg. I drove all (but the RS3 instead of the S3) and for me the clear choice was either the RS3 or the 'R'. I chose the R because it was very similar performance for a lot less money
Vw probably have the best customer service. Bought a brand new golf gtd off them and now buying a brand new Tiguan R line off the same person. Very happy with the customer service unlike my previous experiences with Audi.
I like what your saying about the dealer, I bought my GTI a few weeks ago, and the treatment I received from the dealer was first class. Deffo makes me want to buy another VW :)
Wow what a nice choice of car. A good tip from a fellow golf TSI owner is to let it idle a bit when cold starting it before driving, then you won't go through any major engine problems. :)
+Adam Chase i really love the sales team and receptionists, but the service lot are a bit weird... it took them 2 days to do my App connect, then when they were in the middle of doing that they sent me a random video showing a "complimentary health check"... Why was that done when the car has only done 200 miles??? Then when they gave me my car back (finally) they still forget to set my tyre pressures, so i ask them to do that while it was there... I waited 30 mins, got my keys back, got in the car to find the pressure STILL hadn't been set... WTF!? So i don't think the service bit is very good... looks like a lack of communication to me
+culinarymatt87 funny thing is that was a last minute negotiation too, but they did mess up on the finance agreement meaning i had to drive back in and sign it all again so it was compensation for that really
I have a 2016 Golf R DSG in Lapiz Blue too, albeit in Canada. Wish we got the option of the alcantara cloth seats, and sunroof of course. Otherwise, I love the car, heckuva bang for buck here.
+Mark Jones thankyou mate. If you are going to do same as me, dont buy brand new! I'll tell you why, i only bought brand new because i thought i could claim the VAT back through the company i work for, however because our turnover is too low this year we couldnt... so thats cost me about £5300!! If i were you, id buy a used one, privately! That aside, im still very happy with my car and am willing to accept that loss, but for my next car i wont be falling for that trap again lol
+Jay Kay No problem buddy, i've enjoyed watching most of your videos. For some reason I didn't get any notifications that you'd replied though which is weird. Keep up the good work mate. Cheers
10:45 Nice California! Love your golf r been a fan of VW for along time now and when the mk7 golf r came out I fell in love with it well done with the purchase
cheers for putting that up, hoping to pick a 66 up. LOVE that colour too. great choice. Some of my friends think I'm nuts to look at a 30 grand Golf..but not me!
+bafty0 same with me mate, I'm from a Japanese car area and all my life its been nap metal. I took this out, fell in love and now my friends and family think I've gone mad! We know better though mate its worth the cost!
+MrStamford78 i really disliked it! Nothing in it worked for me: I kept elbowing the centre console leading to the odd sloppy gear change, i kept stalling it for some reason even though the clutch felt the same as the Ep3... maybe something to do with ECU and airflow mixture? And after test driving 4wheel drive cars all week, front wheel drive just got irritating as on the test drive i wheel span it a few times They should go back to natural aspiration and make it 4 wheel drive IMO but i know EU rules will prevent that
+ThatGuyNamedScott. C i did, dealers on car wow offered me upto 11% off. I got just over 14% off on this deal so carwow is great is you dont feel comfortable spending hours in a dealership arguing the price down. I love to argue lol
Hope you gettin on with it well, I loved mine in my review. How you getting on now... fuel ok? wondering what happens to the noises when you amp the speakers.. glad you had a good buying experience too.
Yeah its going good, at 600 miles i had to top my oil up. Not driven the car since my last video as ive been away. So far the mileage im getting is rising, so at the mo 30mpg but its first tank was 24mpg, second tank 29mpg and now its on its 3rd. I think i'll achieve 33mpg easily, as i drive my cars easy and only sprint once in a blue moon. As for the soundaktor, as far as im aware its seperate sound system from the music system, so increasing base via the infotainment system wont make the soundaktor sound beefier at least i dont think
+kanervatie again nobody seems sure, as much as i like him, my dealer has been wrong on many things and he was guessing when he said 5 months. I think VW are struggling
+|〉 TARIQ k. 〈| no way! i was at my local VW yesterday and we were talkinga bout it, still no confirmation on release date, production numbers or prices! What my dealer did say was though that their branch had been allocated a demonstrator... its all very confusing but i personally think it will be just like the evo 8 FQ 400 which basically was a failure... even the evo 9 FQ360 i was told by a mits dealer wasnt very good as it drank too much fuel and was very picky with fuel you put in
nope, my spec is literally as i said. I have a great sunroof on my truck but i never use it so decided against it on my R. I'm not sure what people say about the sunroof where a review is concerned
+Cd Noony what RON are you putting in now? Believe it or not, my local BP garage no longer sells Ultimate!! But i think this car runs ok on 95, but obviously id rather stick to 98
Jay Kay, It would be great if you did a video about your life with the Rmk7 from new to present day External /internal condition etc. History of car and issues in warranty - have you extended the warranty and what mileage you have done . dealership servicing and performance against warranty and Customer Support. Cheers Keith
i was thinking about that but the problem is ive barely driven my R. Although i truly love it when im in it. Most of my driving is done in my truck. I could do an update though as recently had it serviced and mot'd.
haha I'm happy yes but il be honest with you mate (and i hate to sound like a hippy) happiness doesn't come from material things... Yes i love my cars and my house and all of that but nothing makes me happier than having a good laugh with friends and family or having fantastic adult time with a gorgeous woman lol
I got the following added: DSG, 19 inch wheels, VW Sat Nav, App-Connect and the metallic paint is optional extra too. Quite a nice, modest spec which im really pleased with and it definitely turns heads when out on the road
+michael9515 you're comparing a mk7 diesel to a Golf R... lol however answer: 1.) Pointless feature which i actually hate in my landcruiser, 2.) It has both front and rear parking assist... i think you need to do more research on the golf r tbh mate
+Jay Kay mate you got me wrong... okay if you hate heated seats i got you... but with assist i mean automatic parking in which car turns the wheel by itself... still a bit pointless because it takes too long to set up... but reversing camera saved my ass quite a lot of times... goot feature to tick when ordering... i took 2.0 tdi highline for a base and then added camera, parking sensors, gray interiro with alcantara, heated seats,... and salesman said that they have axactly the same but added auto parking assist with side sensors and with radar cruise controo but without rear led lights. Thats why i went for it and dont regret a bit... but still its a race car with double the horsepower not a cruising car like mine ;)
+michael9515 Yeah i really dont like them, they make me overheat! Out of curiosity, how come you need a reverse parking camera? I find the rear view mirror gives me plenty of view so i can see behind me, and the parking sensors are great at detecting when im too close. The only time ive found i need a rear camera was for reversing a pickup truck where you literally cannot see what is behind the loading bay. Ultimately the spec ive got is perfect for my needs as to be honest, i'll hardy drive this car and when i do it will be for pleasure, so really all i was interested in was 4 wheels, a lot of grip, power and DSG. The only reason i went for Sat Nav (which is excellent) and the car net, app connect is because i got them thrown in free. I really love Automated Cruise Control too, another freebie which you pay for in the Audi RS3! The only other feature i thought came with the car that i might be interested in was Lane Assist, however ive read many people complain that it is irritating just like stop start technology
+Jay Kay My house does not have any street lights and reversing is a pain in the ass to be honest... So it comes quite handy for me in pitch black to see why the sensors are beeping... And also where i work i need to paralel park so it helps a lot when parking in tight spots... Lane assit are a bit mixed emotions in my opinion... nice on highway but stupid on country roads... adaptive cruise control simply brilliant.. Other than that... nice car... only repair under waranty was for AC not blowing hot air...
Thanks mate. Yes its a nice sounding car thanks to the Sounaktor. I did a night sprint video which is uploading so you can hear how it sounds when driven hard there. My last tank i got just under 29MPG
Congrats on your new car. I have 2 questions for you, first you said you were going to chip the car to get 350hp, does that void the warranty? Secondly, you mentioned that the Golf R400 is coming out in 5 months or so, has that been officially confirmed or is that still a rumor? Cheers and enjoy.
+Doug Maverick thank you mate. Answering question 1: I'm not sure... my dealer reckons if i did get it chipped how would the manufacturer know... but i have a feeling data is being sent from the car to the manufacturer pretty much constantly! Second question is i think the dealer was guessing, as a guy said in an earlier comment there is no official announcement from VW. I told the dealer i think they are having problems squeezing a 400BHP output from a 4 cylinder 2.0l block, just as Mitsubishi did with the FQ400 (eve 8)
+Doug Maverick i found out after i bought the car. But I've been told by many people since that the forum which i got that info from is totally wrong, apparently the DSG in the mk7 golf R is bullet proof. Apparently its not as involving as a proper manual box but i do love it! I sometimes downshift though when I'm trying to dip from high beam at night driving lol so I'm still getting used to it
+Aadil Ahmed yes its a box with a V pen, VW key ring, spare fob and the Coffee mug. Nice touch! Must be an R thing as my friend who buys VW's regularly has never received this box
+Aadil Ahmed wow i bet youre excited! That is a very nice car in itself and was actually going to be my car of choice. I bought this R purely as a result of doing a youtube video test drive though and fell in love lol. Let me know what happens delivery day and if you get the box or not too mate!
Yeah. It's easy to do in cars like this too as you just want to go. Breaking in this cars brakes and engine was one of the hardest things I had to do in my life lol
just seen this video for first time and im very interested! will be looking through your other videos later. i have an ep3 myself and i admit a golf r is an amazing car. i just wanted to ask why you never got the fk2 but im sure you answered this in your other vids? for an everyday fast car with practicality, comfort ect it has to be a golf r/audi s3. good choice well done mate!
Thankyou mate. I chose the golf r over the fk2 because the awd traction is awesome, where as in the fk2 I experienced slight wheel spin before the traction kicked in. Another thing I didn't like about the fk2 was it felt too firm for daily use to me, where obviously the golf r is a firm but comfy ride. I'd put the fk2 as being more a track focused car. I also don't like the look of the fk2
Quite interesting & fairly well done for an amateur video. All within 5 miles of where I live too. But if the salesman says that if the brakes are hammered in the first couple of hundred miles the front discs will warp then all I can say is that he is talking complete nonsense. If he isn't talking nonsense then VW are selling rubbish with a semi-premium badge & price tag. I am inclined to think that the salesman is talking nonsense. Furhter to another comment, what on earth is he wearing on his wrist? A VHS casette?
Lol they didn`t change the Volume Function Knob to the right side ? If it was a left steering car the driver is close to the left button (volume) of the columbus radio. Now he has to lean left ... (if not using the steering wheel knob`s ...) lol again ... Probably it is 2 expensive 2 produce 2 different radios ?
+Holger B you know i was thinking the same thing, how it was strange how you have to reach right over to change volume! I think on the plus side, you can control the volume from your steering wheel console
+123 upload yeah i read that in some forum a few weeks ago. I always take forums with a pinch of salt... sometimes you find invaluable info in there but sometimes its rumours and scarmongering too. This applies to Civic Type R owners forum as well. Had i of read some forum posts before i bought this golf id have been scared into not buying it as yoju read lods of horror stories... but i know better, i know VW is a bullet proof make
+Jay Kay I've got a mk5 diesel and the engine blew at 60 k because it was a company car... I've had it for 12k miles and two years had no problems what so ever 200bhp and 70mpg
I believe it has something to do with the frame rate of the recording device and the frequency of the LEDs in the dash being different or 'out of sync'
+Scronce thankyou mate and yes it is! AS you can see the sales process was awesome, however they are now slipping a bit by messing me about in getting the App Connect working, not returning calls or emails, and they still havent sent me my refunds for my GAP and tyre insurance! Rest assured if they carry on this will be a video
I've driven all the cars in the bracket except for the Porsche 718 and nothing comes close! I'm going to do a test drive video on the 718 to give my opinion on which is better as a second car. Test drive then all and see what you think mate
Jay Kay think the Golf R is in my price bracket, I learnt to drive in a Golf and considered getting a polo for my first car but settled for the Fiesta, just done my second year of driving and plan to keep this car for another year and then upgrade, definitely want to upgrade after this year and definitely want something with a bit of OOOMPHHHH. Great videos by the way, I'll look forward to your review on the 718
That's fare enough mate. The R is an awesome car! I drove mine for the first time in 3 weeks on Monday and absolutely loved it lol. Thanks for the supportive comment mate 👍
i might do a piece on my camera as i get asked that question a lot! It is a sony action camera (AZ-1). It is an excellent camera but i believe production has now stopped, they are focusing on their 4k version
And I am right. Used to live there and work in the same industrial estate that VW garage was at. That BP garage you went to is the only place I have topped up my car and then realised I had not taken my wallet out with me. They wanted to call the cops on me but I was being genuinely serious that it was a mistake.
A617 was my road for a number of years between Newark and Mansfield. Loving watching this. Not been up there for a few years and remembering the roads is brill. Especially that one.
+Faizaldinho23 if you are asking so you can figure out if you can afford one, visit the VW website and use their finance calculator, or visit your nearest VW dealer.
+tom elwood my dealer didn't give me a straight answer, I'm on the list to test drive it, but he "thinks" they'll be in the UK in 5 months time. My opinion on the car is that they are running into problems... the same sort of problems mitsubishi couldn't solve with the FQ400 which in the end was a total flop... a turbo far too big for a 4 cylinder block. In any event, it won't beat the current R on real roads, my guess is that it will be a specialist track toy
+tom elwood There is no confirmation on the R400, despite what anyone might say from 'sources' until there is official communication from VW via a press release, the R400 is just a concept car. Who knows if it will ever come into production. There was that bit stated a week or two ago about a surprise of some kind coming in May or June - which may be a slight indication but again, nothing concrete. As for OP - nice pickup, wish my Canadian version came with that sort of gift set and especially those LED tails / folding mirrors!
haha they didn't give me it... it was compensation (which i argued for) because they messed up my finance agreement which meant i had to drive all the way back to the dealership again and also delayed me getting my car lol
+psp0guy yeah this car won't be in the EP3's league where long term reliability is concerned, too many electronics IMO plus the turbo. This goes the the new type r too, but as you say, time will tell. I think il keep this for 4 years though, get it remapped to 380BHP in year 4 once the warranty has expired
+Hunter Lane no lol, ive enquired many times at my local dealership and many times i get different answers as to what is happening with that car. I think it will remain a concept
yeah. I think its just rumour, from what i can tell this car is superbly well built. All i'd expect needs doing at 60k is a replacement turbo. My friend owns a Tiguan with DSG, its 13 reg and done over 60k miles and works fine still. They use it for towing loads too
+timothy mountain i doubt it, my dealer keeps telling me different everytime i visit him. However the new Golf GTI Clubsport comes out soon so im doing a video on that i think. I doubt i'll like it though as it is only front wheel drive
Halfords mate but its crap to be honest. as soon as there is a bit of decent wind it exposes a lot of the rear... I guess that aint a problem if you keep on top of waxing but for the money its disapointing
loving it mate. Check my channel out I've done loads of videos on it and did a review of the new Focus RS against it too. How long have you waited for your R??
Possibly! It's the engine at front on the RS3: 2.5 litre 5cylinder so suffers understeer where the Golf R doesnt thanks to its 2 litre block. I do love the RS3 though and would have bought it had the Golf R not existed for sure!
+V T yeah i know, awesome collection of cars. I think last i heard was that he bought a green La Ferrari! I know where he lives too, i sat in his silver 360 modena a couple of years ago, it was for sale, and his details were on the log book lol. Glad to hear you have an EP3 :)
Wow!! Congrats. Awesome looking R and loved the way the dealer/salesman prepped it for delivery to you in such a personal way. No disrespect meant, but after that first class service you received at the dealer upon pickup, it was kind of a downer to see the salesman direct you to a Mohammed Mart for your first tank of gas. I think I would've taken that bad boy to a Shell, Exxon or Chevron for its proper first fueling. After all THAT's a $35k R, not freakin' Kia Rio. lol. Anyways, it's a beautiful machine. Hope you have years of enjoyment with her. Btw, I just coincidentally stumbled onto your awesome vid, after watching the following VW R vid taking the twisties on a California road. Have fun!! ua-cam.com/video/I07xikQ3l-8/v-deo.html
+greenhavennn lol thanks for the comment and thanks for linking that video, i thoroughly enjoyed watching that and is pretty much the experience i had when i test drove this car before purchase. The way it delivers the power in bends, the grip it gives too its just immense!! Again thanks for the love and for the video link :)
+Edd Green you've had a honda dealer treat you as well as VW treated me here? I test drove at Mercedes, Audi and Honda before i bought this car and VW let me have the R for 3 hours! The others expected me to make my mind up after a quick 30 min drive around town. Also the Honda test drive, she dragged me away from my coffee... didnt even let me finish it! This is a Honda showroom ive bought 3 new cars from previously (two EP3 type r's - one which is in this video). I thought that it was typical dealer treatment, but VW really treated me like a king. Probably a new sales technique. They also used iPads and contacted me via video call as well as the usual email and telephone, very good modern practices
Only the best salesmen ask if you like how it drives after only going 10 feet.
JustSean b ^
5:55 WTF ARE THOSE TWO CARS DOING? 😂
+MightyMinions iv done that many times before LOL
+MightyMinions lmao i dont think they were both women drivers either! Still, i've never done that but as GeXExtremist says i have nearly done it, it can easily be done, aspecially on older roads wher markings are worn lol
Taking the straightest line possible: racing 101. :)
@MightyMinions after about 10 times replaying that bit I realised lmao
Hmmm Ive never done that......I mean come on their are keep left bollards........which do exactly what they say on the tin LOL
I would take that info about dsg boxes being good for only 60k miles with a large pinch of salt. They are very popular on the drag racing scene because of their ability to handle obscene amounts of power even in stock form. From all accounts, they are pretty bulletproof.

Lovely car, nice gesture from the dealer to fill the tank up!
thanks mate i still have and love the car. Unfortunately due to covid the dealer is now permanently closed
@@jaykay7932 Oh no, sorry to hear that dealership has gone (another victim of Covid) and they sounded like a good one - typical!
Vw probably have the best customer service. Bought a brand new golf gtd off them and now buying a brand new Tiguan R line off the same person. Very happy with the customer service unlike my previous experiences with Audi.
In my country after buying a car they just give you the keys and say "congrats and good luck sir".
No awkward trip with a salesman👍🏻
+Peter Zwart yeah the only reason salesman came with me was to pay for my fuel. Although i personally like the scene they made
I wouldn't mind with an awsome car like that though👍🏻
e
I like what your saying about the dealer, I bought my GTI a few weeks ago, and the treatment I received from the dealer was first class.
Deffo makes me want to buy another VW :)
Truly lovely car...picked up my new S3 back in November, same running gear as the Golf R, just a great drive throughout.
+Andy Peet thanks mate. Are you planning on doing any remaps to your S3 or are you keeping it standard?
Wow what a nice choice of car. A good tip from a fellow golf TSI owner is to let it idle a bit when cold starting it before driving, then you won't go through any major engine problems. :)
+Daniel San thank you for the helpful comment :)
I love VW customer service always go out of their way to help you.

lovely daily and cracking he gave you a full tank of super ! niceee
+culinarymatt87 funny thing is that was a last minute negotiation too, but they did mess up on the finance agreement meaning i had to drive back in and sign it all again so it was compensation for that really
Good man getting the cloth seats with a good spec 👍🏼 so much nicer than the leather ones!
+Dominic Bradley thanks mate. Also from what I've been told they are far comfier on long journeys than the leather seats too
Well done, mate. Very happy for you. Great car.
I have a 2016 Golf R DSG in Lapiz Blue too, albeit in Canada. Wish we got the option of the alcantara cloth seats, and sunroof of course. Otherwise, I love the car, heckuva bang for buck here.
awesome Jay, and what a choice of cars to own. work hard, play harder,:-)

Great video. Wish you all the best with you're new purchase.
+mrmogish thank you :)
Awesome car and colour, congrats.
+oppanheimer thankyou :). I was going to order black but the dealer introduced me to the lapiz blue and im thankful to him for that!
+oppanheimer Great choice bro...

Gonna have to drive one of these 14 hours home. Let's see how it goes!
Loving the K20 plate on the Focus! That was an omen for him to have kept his Ep3.
+MrStamford78 haha and the EP3 will stay with me until I'm too old to drive
+Jay Kay. Top man! Why not the new Civic then? Really nice car though, enjoy it.
+MrStamford78 i really disliked it! Beautiful car Jay congrats on the purchase!
+Spaceorange thankyou so much! She is a lovely machine, a different car entirely to the EP3 type r. I love them both equally
Great Car thanks for sharing.
Thanks, my pleasure :)
Man i wish Volkswagen dealers in Canada would treat their customers like this!!!
+Nathan S indeed. No other dealer treats you this well. I bought 3 new cars from Honda and never got treated like that
Nice car mate, love these golf r's, you bought it in the right colour aswell, enjoy your purchase ;)
+Charlie _458 thank you mate, it is a little rocket
Next time go threw car wow, you might have to travel further but you can get mighty discounts! Looks great!
+ThatGuyNamedScott. C i did, dealers on car wow offered me upto 11% off. I got just over 14% off on this deal so carwow is great is you dont feel comfortable spending hours in a dealership arguing the price down. I love to argue lol
Look forward to seeing this round newark, ill give you a wave in my black mk5 gti
+Lou Coe small world! i like it! Please do mate, if i see a guy flashing me in his black mk5 GTI il know its you lol
Beautiful car

I'm planning to get this beast next year. 🔥👀
So they actually went and produced 400R. That is nice...Wont be seeing too many of those.
+kanervatie again nobody seems sure, as much as i like him, my dealer has been wrong on many things and he was guessing when he said 5 months. I think VW are struggling

I bet it does mate nice cars in general. did u not go for sunroof or panoramic roof. want to get similar specs with panoramic roof.
nope, my spec is literally as i said. I have a great sunroof on my truck but i never use it so decided against it on my R. I'm not sure what people say about the sunroof where a review is concerned
Hi - what is that control on your wrist? Not a gopro remote is it?
Exactly the same as mine. Picked it up two weeks ago.
Had a tank of fuel to. They used 91 :( ran like a dog. Super fixed that.
+Cd Noony wow, here in the UK the lowest grade is 95 RON, where are you from?
+Jay Kay
From UK
In Melbourne now
+Cd Noony what RON are you putting in now? Believe it or not, my local BP garage no longer sells Ultimate!! But i think this car runs ok on 95, but obviously id rather stick to 98
Jay Kay,
It would be great if you did a video about your life with the Rmk7 from new to present day External /internal condition etc.
History of car and issues in warranty - have you extended the warranty and what mileage you have done . dealership servicing and performance against warranty and Customer Support.
Cheers
Keith
i was thinking about that but the problem is ive barely driven my R. Although i truly love it when im in it. Most of my driving is done in my truck. I could do an update though as recently had it serviced and mot'd.
@@jaykay7932That sounds pretty good too me, look forward to seeing it. "Collection to MoT"
nice one mate i love it
Nice one!!! what a beast
You must be really happy.
haha I'm happy yes but il be honest with you mate (and i hate to sound like a hippy) happiness doesn't come from material things... Yes i love my cars and my house and all of that but nothing makes me happier than having a good laugh with friends and family or having fantastic adult time with a gorgeous woman lol
+Jay Kay Thought you weren't married ,you got stacks of cash.
I've just got rid off my MK5 R32 4motion. Dsg clutch failed at 55k.new clutch £1500
Rear differential failed at 58k.
did u get the golf r as just standard model or did u get any extras for the price you paid ? Jay Kay
I got the following added: DSG, 19 inch wheels, VW Sat Nav, App-Connect and the metallic paint is optional extra too. Quite a nice, modest spec which im really pleased with and it definitely turns heads when out on the road
Why would you take R and leave the heated seats and parking assist and all that goodies my MK7 diesel has?
Nice car mate!! Is there a nice note off it when you hammer it? What mpg are you getting?
Thanks mate. Yes its a nice sounding car thanks to the Sounaktor. I did a night sprint video which is uploading so you can hear how it sounds when driven hard there. My last tank i got just under 29MPG
+Jay Kay nice one. Thanks!
Nice of the dealer to throw the mats in free of charge
I told the dealer i think they are having problems squeezing a 400BHP output from a 4 cylinder 2.0l block, just as Mitsubishi did with the FQ400 (eve 8)
mats are standard
What size wheels? 18 or 19? Do you have DCC or regular suspension? How's the ride?
I bought a Golf Gt couldn't afford one of these.... Lol!! still happy with it though 😀
1.4 tsi?
+S Miller that's the one... Fantastic car 👍
Simon Beresford Great engine, I have it in my Ibiza FR.
You mean GTI?
Madern Nah he means GT, they are more everyday than the GTI or GTD, the GT is a warm hatch. Does 0-60 in 8 seconds.
If the DSG is only good for 60k why didn't you get the manual transmission, more fun and involving?
+Doug Maverick i found out after i bought the car. But I've been told by many people since that the forum which i got that info from is totally wrong, apparently the DSG in the mk7 golf R is bullet proof. Apparently its not as involving as a proper manual box but i do love it! I sometimes downshift though when I'm trying to dip from high beam at night driving lol so I'm still getting used to it
I'm curious about that box with the keys in it? I'm collecting mine next week, do you receive this with the car?
+Aadil Ahmed yes its a box with a V pen, VW key ring, spare fob and the Coffee mug. Nice touch! Must be an R thing as my friend who buys VW's regularly has never received this box
+Aadil Ahmed wow i bet youre excited! That is a very nice car in itself and was actually going to be my car of choice. I bought this R purely as a result of doing a youtube video test drive though and fell in love lol. Let me know what happens delivery day and if you get the box or not too mate!
another thing i noticed was the focus estate with the k20 private plate lol
my dad's has gone 150,000 miles on his vw and still going strong
Warning Worped Disk ! But what a lovely car.
Lovely car.
Congrats sir
nice one mate
+LastHumansGarage thankyou mate :)
+Jay Kay Congratulations. The car looks great.
+Chevar Fletcher thank you, i appreciate it :)
YEH MATE !!!!!
Damn! I sure do wish the dealer told me about warping the brakes when I bought my GTI. It happened to me and it's quite costly. Cheers!
Yeah. It's easy to do in cars like this too as you just want to go. Breaking in this cars brakes and engine was one of the hardest things I had to do in my life lol
+Jay Kay You had a really tough life then !!!!!!!
just seen this video for first time and im very interested! will be looking through your other videos later. i have an ep3 myself and i admit a golf r is an amazing car. i just wanted to ask why you never got the fk2 but im sure you answered this in your other vids? for an everyday fast car with practicality, comfort ect it has to be a golf r/audi s3. good choice well done mate!
Good to see you didn't go for the tacky looking gti wheels.
Gear box lasting 40k really!!!!! I've got a golf with 270k on the clock original clutch and original turbo. I wouldn't worry.
Handbook tells you to run in engine for first 1000kms, then gradual harder driving up to 1500km.
VW suits you, good choice!
Hey guys, could someone kindly explain why the interior lighting is flickering...
I believe it has something to do with the frame rate of the recording device and the frequency of the LEDs in the dash being different or 'out of sync'
Thank you. I just did se research and it is just as you have explained. Have a good one mate!
Quality mate congrats, is this from JCT600 bfd?
+Scronce thankyou mate and yes it is! AS you can see the sales process was awesome, however they are now slipping a bit by messing me about in getting the App Connect working, not returning calls or emails, and they still havent sent me my refunds for my GAP and tyre insurance! Rest assured if they carry on this will be a video
Tempted to get one myself for my second car
Thanks for the supportive comment mate 👍
nice man ! enjoy
thankyou mate
What camera are you using sir?
i might do a piece on my camera as i get asked that question a lot! It is a sony action camera (AZ-1). It is an excellent camera but i believe production has now stopped, they are focusing on their 4k version
At 2 mins, I am guessing that you are in Newark???
And I am right. Used to live there and work in the same industrial estate that VW garage was at.
That BP garage you went to is the only place I have topped up my car and then realised I had not taken my wallet out with me.
They wanted to call the cops on me but I was being genuinely serious that it was a mistake.
A617 was my road for a number of years between Newark and Mansfield. Loving watching this. Not been up there for a few years and remembering the roads is brill.
Especially that one.
And you end up in Southwell.
Nice place.
I actually bought a 1974 Chevrolet El Camino from around there once.
I live in Mansfield so not far from Newark mate
Wow free fuel and a decent handover, audi or bmw never did anything like that.
bugattisteve i have had 5 audis and always get this, and fuel.
Why do you refer as Honda is all dealerships that deal with Honda cars? Never been outside your town limits?
Because obviously I'd only ever owned a Honda.
How much every month on finance? And how much was deposit?
+Faizaldinho23 if you are asking so you can figure out if you can afford one, visit the VW website and use their finance calculator, or visit your nearest VW dealer.
😂😂😂😂
are they getting R400 s in finally??
+Spinal2111 thank you for the compliment :)
That's good they gave you a full tank of fuel!
haha they didn't give me it... it was compensation (which i argued for) because they messed up my finance agreement which meant i had to drive all the way back to the dealership again and also delayed me getting my car lol
+Jay Kay 12 miles ,so 24 miles and you argued for a full tank of fuel !!!
I really want a golf R but insurance will finesse my life I'm only 18 😭
I think it's fair to say that pretty much any 2016 car won't compare to a mid 2000's car in reliability. I guess time will tell.
+psp0guy yeah this car won't be in the EP3's league where long term reliability is concerned, too many electronics IMO plus the turbo. This goes the the new type r too, but as you say, time will tell. I think il keep this for 4 years though, get it remapped to 380BHP in year 4 once the warranty has expired
wait you test drove the r400?
+Hunter Lane no lol, ive enquired many times at my local dealership and many times i get different answers as to what is happening with that car. I think it will remain a concept
wont be long now before early R's are approaching the 60k mark so the truth will out on the speculation about the DSG boxes......
yeah. I think its just rumour, from what i can tell this car is superbly well built. All i'd expect needs doing at 60k is a replacement turbo. My friend owns a Tiguan with DSG, its 13 reg and done over 60k miles and works fine still. They use it for towing loads too
Planning to get a bmw 4 series 2019 but I bought a Volkswagen up 2019
I wanted to see a full on acceleration out of the doors.
did you say R400 in 5 months?
+timothy mountain i doubt it, my dealer keeps telling me different everytime i visit him. However the new Golf GTI Clubsport comes out soon so im doing a video on that i think. I doubt i'll like it though as it is only front wheel drive
where did you buy the cover for your car?
Halfords mate but its crap to be honest. as soon as there is a bit of decent wind it exposes a lot of the rear... I guess that aint a problem if you keep on top of waxing but for the money its disapointing
+Jay Kay Thanks mate, I'm waiting for delivery of the car for around November time!
+Jay Kay how are you finding the car mate?
loving it mate. Check my channel out I've done loads of videos on it and did a review of the new Focus RS against it too. How long have you waited for your R??
+Jay Kay awesome! have pretty much watched most of them haha. Only just signed for mine. We will have to meet once she's here!
Not taking delivery if youve gone to collect is it lol
lol rofl rofl lmoa lmoa #bellend
Why not the RS3?
The two feel the same in drive, only the R is better equiped and far cheaper to run and outguns the RS3 easily in sprints and on track
+Jay Kay Interesting!
+Jay Kay better chasis!
Possibly! It's the engine at front on the RS3: 2.5 litre 5cylinder so suffers understeer where the Golf R doesnt thanks to its 2 litre block. I do love the RS3 though and would have bought it had the Golf R not existed for sure!
whats that on his wrist?
Wist monitor and a proximity sensor. He got in trouble with the law.
still confused
LondonInHD remote c4
Didn't anybody notice the mini and seat @5:55 turning right down the wrong side of the road 🙈
+Mark Lancaster i actually hadn't until you just mentioned... OMG i was so involved in the vid that i missed it too then too haha
I love the dsc but I feel a car like this should be 6 speed manual.
+atown heink many people feel the same way, but im very happy with DSG i think its brilliant
You're not in Jamiroquai
+V T haha no but mr Jason Kay did steal my nickname D:
+Jay Kay He's also a petrolhead. I've got an EP3 Type-R too :-)
+V T yeah i know, awesome collection of cars. I think last i heard was that he bought a green La Ferrari! I know where he lives too, i sat in his silver 360 modena a couple of years ago, it was for sale, and his details were on the log book lol. Glad to hear you have an EP3 :)
What's the mpg like on it
I don't know tbh. I think 29mpg
you must have a good job :)
Wow!!
Again thanks for the love and for the video link :)
it's bp fuel you fool
1:40 whats that song. I love it
you must have found a bad Honda dealer, I've never had any problems with any of them.
I see so many hatchbacks lol
I had a passat with DSG that was A1 at 120 000
Please, just please put a stage 2 ecu tune on it.
+LET IT HAPPEN not sure i will because as far as i can tell, its just stage one but with the exhaust decated
£30,800?! After trading in your Honda surely!?
No I've still got my EP3
why are the dash and screen blinking? annoying af
Good question! Obviously the screen flashes because it is "refreshing" like every screen does, but the speedo's... that is a good question
Just cos they are led and refresh rate on the camera, wont look like that in person
