huh? Her shift starts at 8:30 and she gets off at 6:00. Thats a 8.5 hr work schedule with lunch, 30 minutes more than most people. And she might just be giving herself that extra thirty taking extended lunch breaks or whatever.

Expect a really difficult time getting a job as a graduate. Just be mentally prepared for it. These types of videos are often really glorified commercials.

I definitely see myself in the middle area, with Development. I have to be building something tangible to feel like I'm contributing, but at the same time I love realizing raw, cutting-edge concepts. I want nothing more than to prototype concepts and methods that have never worked before. Proof of concept is where I really want to be.
As a software engineer, I was a bit intrigued about the idea of making a video of a day in the life as a software engineer. I was starting to wonder what excitement I might be missing out on, so I watched in anticipation hoping to see some crazy action - perhaps some critical software not working and everyone's job is on the line to fix it, while you swoop in to fix the bug and save the day and everyone's job! But alas - it's about what I expected. Coding and some meetings with a lunch break. Our daily lives, reduced down to 7.5 minutes. Sigh...

Also, less than 40% of young adults have a college degree, so this video may also serve as inspiration to get a college degree. I’ve seen a variety of different careers with these types of videos and while there may be some small similarities, it still shows the main differences

I'm starting my first year of college and majoring in Software Engineering and my dream Career is to work for the Walt Disney Company/Disney Animation Studios to be a software engineer, basically just coding surrounded by the joy of Disney💯💯💯💯💯
If you want to do software "engineering" I recommend bootcamp/self learn. A full college degree is overkill for most of these jobs and you will be in debt for no reason. If you want to do real engineering I would recommend a full accredited degree.

The difference between coding bootcamp and comp sci majors is astronomical. There's more to software engineering than code. Software Engineers should be able to engineer actual systems together. For example, software engineers made sure that millions of people on UA-cam can be logged in at once without a drop in performance. The 20 millionth person would have the same experience as the 1st person logged in on the site. Coding bootcamp graduates won't be able to build infrastructure like this. They'll be stuck making things with code and not caring about performance.
