    As a software engineer, I was a bit intrigued about the idea of making a video of a day in the life as a software engineer. I was starting to wonder what excitement I might be missing out on, so I watched in anticipation hoping to see some crazy action - perhaps some critical software not working and everyone's job is on the line to fix it, while you swoop in to fix the bug and save the day and everyone's job! But alas - it's about what I expected. Coding and some meetings with a lunch break. Our daily lives, reduced down to 7.5 minutes. Sigh...

I just assumed it was something you couldn’t get right out of college and more a who you know kind of business. Did they come and recruit at your college or did you know someone and got an interview from there? Sorry for all the questions! You seem really cool and definitely just gained a new subbie

      JScafidi616 it just shows younger people what life is like in specific career pathways. Also, less than 40% of young adults have a college degree, so this video may also serve as inspiration to get a college degree. I’ve seen a variety of different careers with these types of videos and while there may be some small similarities, it still shows the main differences

    • @BingeV
      @BingeV 4 роки тому +2

      If you want to do software "engineering" I recommend bootcamp/self learn. A full college degree is overkill for most of these jobs and you will be in debt for no reason. If you want to do real engineering I would recommend a full accredited degree.

      @@Jack-gp2nx I'm just trying to be helpful. Maybe instead of labeling what I say as BS you can offer your own recommendation? All too often I see people getting college degrees for something they could've learned in a few weeks. When they finally do graduate they are up to their ears in debt hoping to get hired as a software "engineer". Meanwhile the kid that self taught/did coding boot camp has been actually working the entire time the other person was just working on their degree. By the time the college person gets hired, the other kid has been promoted several times and is debt free.

      @@BingeV You're wrong, there's different tiers to this. You have the people that graduated college and then you have the people that do bootcamps. The difference between coding bootcamp and comp sci majors is astronomical. There's more to software engineering than code. The bootcamp people are going to be stuck doing just code not knowing how to put together actual systems, performance, and how fast their code runs. Software Engineers should be able to engineer actual systems together. For example, software engineers made sure that millions of people on UA-cam can be logged in at once without a drop in performance. The 20 millionth person would have the same experience as the 1st person logged in on the site. Coding bootcamp graduates won't be able to build infrastructure like this. They'll be stuck making things with code and not caring about performance.

    • @Yeotmeogeo
      @Yeotmeogeo 4 роки тому +3

      Flip Boy Going to disagree with you on that one. Sure there’s a difference in the two, but the main difference is the person and the way they perceive information and have the drive to learn more. Using “performance” to differentiate the two is ridiculous. I’d say if you think you don’t need to be spoon fed information and can really learn on your own go for the boot camp. All the information is out there. Why spend tens of thousands
