Also, another thing: Thank you for this. When i first started watching your videos, 2 years ago, it changed my life. You changed my schedule and mindset. But now for some months I fell into a deep depression and didn't even pick up my phone, i would wake up at 3pm and sleep at 6am, eat mcdonalds all the time and gain weight. But now it's been a week since I watched your last 6 videos and I started to get my shit together. I wish you could know how much influence do you have!

Waaahhh im so happy to hear my videos can have that sort of influence 🥺🥺 i am sorry you had to go through that mini rut but glad to hear you made it out!! ❤️

I feel like I would work better this way rather than going to a physical studio or another place. I don't mind if there isn't that separation from work and home, I think it's less tiring and don't waste that much time.🤔
    Great video by the way!!

Agreed, I don't like the old-school office mentality. I want something that will allow me to not have to commute anywhere. That would help with my stress so much. Then you can take your work with you anywhere! Plus not having other people around makes it super easy to focus.

Honestly I agree.. the WFH life problems are extremely minor compared to commuting and exhaustion of in person work in my opinion too 😂

Thank you so much for this video! My dad was scaring me into thinking that artists work really long hours, sometimes long into the night without being paid enough. It was nice to see that working as an artist in animation seems really manageable, fun, and not too stressful. I am considering studying to work in the animation industry, so this video was really helpful :)

I love how you prioritize not only working but having a life OUTSIDE work by working on your personal projects, exercising, and making homemade meals! (Also was that a skateboard? :00 )

Super insightful! Thanks for sharing. It’s comforting to know that some studios understand some artists work better in later hours of the day. I’ll revamp my portfolio and try again! Thanks again for the great video!

Can I ask a question? Since you've worked as a artist in animation I would like to know your view on how fast you need to work. If you draw too slow is that considered a bad thing? I was just wondering because many of the videos I watch of professional artist who work in animation seem to draw so fast and it seems the same for you too.

I'm not working in the animation industry yet so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've heard, it really depends of what your specialty is. Michelle does storyboarding so she has to draw really fast because they're not finished, polished pieces. Same for Concept Art I'm pretty sure, in contrast with Illustration for example which takes more time because it's polished as much as possible. But I think generally being quick at drawing is kind of needed when working in the industry, since you still have deadlines and you gotta meet those.

As long as you get your work done in a reasonable time, you're good.

Last year I took several classes with other students wanting to work as a concept artist or in animation and a lot of them, who entered the industry, and most of the teachers said that speed is almost as important as quality. They would rather take on someone who is fast with a medium quality then a person who takes too long for the project but is really really good. In both industries it is essential that you are able to pump out many different ideas. It is like frogspawn. You produce a lot and only very little survives for the next production round.

It made me happy to hear that you work with people from another countries! I wanna work for animation and I heard that I need to live in la or USA at least, but I'm from Mexico, so now I have new hope for working from home!

So happy to see exercise as part of your routine! I'm not sure how many artists would even consider it, but it really helps change the pace of your day and gets those feel good chemicals flowing.

Thank you for this video! I realise now how important it is to establish a schedule for your work routine. I think it helps with the productivity and keeping everything well-balanced. It's also a really nice insight to what the actual work of an artist in the industry is like.

thank you for showcasing this. My routine ( when i had an aprtment in college) typically i made my self work pass the time i would stop and would keep working pass midnight which wasnt healthy... So now late 2021 I pace my self no matter what im working on as best as i can and stop working on projects around 8pm so I can chill. However does anyone have suggestions when trying to do yoour usually artist routine but your living with family members and children????? (post college graduate)

dude, this video was super helpful.
Question if you're in an answering-question mood: Is it possible to do, like, a hybrid working situation? As in go in person to whatever studio you work at some weeks and work remotely other weeks?

I don’t know how it works for USA but in some European countries you can sometimes agree on that type of schedules with some companies. However it’s quite rare and most of the time people with kids actually have those kind of working schedules :)
      Hope that helped :)

Also, if possible (you dont have to do this, its not like I can pay you to make me a schedule haha), I have a question: what would you advise me to do? I started a non art related job and I need to find time to work on my skills (i'm an intermediate artist). I wake up at 7 30, work from 9-5, arrive home at 6pm. Do you think 4 hours from 7 to 11pm are enough? My dream is to work in animation one day and I'm focused on character design. Or how can I manage my time? Maybe work a bit in the morning too?

The working from home thing is starting to become an option now, companies are offering to train on the jobsite then allowing employees to work from home afterwards even anime voice actors are doing voice overs from home.
