@@TheSweetSpirit Nah. The point of caves is to direct back to Farbane which has by far the most base locations, so it will hold the majority of the server pop. I have a private game set up where you have not limitations on using waygates with certain items. This gives so much more freedom in picking locations you really want to build in
@@By4o couldn't agree with you here, since caves make whole limited teleporting having no sense. At least with how they are implemented. The saving grace of the plots you mention at 13:59 is that it's one of the absolute best for early/mid game. The shared back area spawns 2 large Copper rocks and 1 large regular rock, so once you have Bear Form you have an insane source of quick early supplies. Each of the plots has a Rock Golem which is great for using to farm building mats while you're still on bone weapons. It's one of the closest to Dunley Cave exit and mildly close to Gloomrot cave exit. It also is near Lydia the Chaos Archer patrol, Alpha Wolf, Goreswine, and Rufus. Basically adjacent to a graveyard (Goreswine's home) for stone and bone. I know you're placing most importance on late game, however in most servers with a decent pop you won't see almost any of those top choices available anyway (but yeah I get that this is theorycrafting, and I think you're pretty much on point in all that you said). I think it should be seriously worth mentioning bases that will help with your progression, of which this base is top of the list. Not good for defense, sure, but most people won't raid your T3 or below progression base so it's not a huge concern. An overlooked bonus for the defense of Hallowed Mountains is that you can pull Frostmaw into raiding parties which makes it much harder to get golems up. The caveat to this is it is non-hostile to Wolf Form. Combined with adjacency to Mortium and Silverlight Cave make the plots with single entrances somewhat decent for late game locations. Oh, and the trees give Oil, so great for the most limited mid-game material. To the same idea with luring Frostmaw for defending your base, Gorecrusher the Behemoth now patrols the Cursed Forest instead of Styx, although on a long path and kind of a long cycle, so much less reliable than Frostmaw, but much much more deadly. Simon Belmont, Jade, and Vincent too are honorable mentions with their patrol routes that might pass near some bases. This is a much much greater consideration on Brutal servers with how deadly all NPC's are. I haven't yet figured out whether this buff also is given to your servants or Banshees for castle defense. Just wanted to put this information out there seeing as how it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the video.
I agree that travel time on horseback is a big consideration but if you have a 10.9 or 11.0 horse with a saddle and utilizing Wrangler's Potion and/or Worker blood and you can zip across Dunley or Farbane in no time. I just utilize the right click to get a nice red arrow line I follow on my minimap and podrace all the way back to base. Not as easy to do in Cursed Forest, Silverlight or Gloomrot but still doable. I just think that western/central Dunley bases become more viable with the sheer speed you can get, the straightness of the roads and the lower levels of the mobs (at later game compared to you).
Yeah for me, while I'm progressing through the game, I'd rather just not have to worry about Wranglers and Worker blood etc. It's true it makes you zoom though

All this could be eliminated easily.
Toggle the teleportbound option.
Not exactly. Even if you can tp with materials, it would not help in the case of getting raided
@@terribletimmy2 Will take your word for that. I'm still just learning, so am only on PvE so far.
Still, fun game
I so want to craft from storage
I keep forgetting people actually play with "teleport with materials" off...
why play with it on?
👍
SHOULD YOU BE REWARDED SO HANDSOMELY FOR LIVING IN FARBANE? I DONT THINK SO. LOVE THE GAME BUT CMON STUNLOCK
Eh, it make sense to me mostly since otherwise you're running across the map for literally every resource haha
Farbane would be horrible for bases if it didnt have caves. And i dont think it would be to make new players feel like have to move their base
dunley is so bad for progression, farbane west just so broken because of the caves, but I moved my base to silver hill southeast corner for late game progress, harbor still best place to farm most stuff, and I can use forest cave go back after farm in ruins.
And another thought on end game is built in Hallowed Mountain, if need farm in hills, can use cave back.
Dev definitely should fix some plots is so unbalanced and the cave, I can't imagine how to play the game base in gloomrot
Agree on fixing plots for sure. East farbane is a catastrophe.
And yeah hallowed mountains also has some solid potential
9:55 that’s my exact plot in the north. Say what you may but at least I don’t have to worry about the sun up there…
Just huge bolts of lighting and massive hordes of enemy’s that would melt me if I went out at the wrong time
It's an extremely good plot in terms of defense I believe, but man it is so far away haha
@@terribletimmy2 what makes it even funnier is… I’m in a ONLY PVE SERVER😂😂😤😭 there’s no point in defense so I’m making all that extra work for myself fr
imagine playing on a server where caves aren't camped 24/7. not sure i would rate them that highly.
If people are camping caves 24/7 it would be extremely easy to out level them in ~1-2 hours and then give them the middle finger.
If maxed out players are camping exits, then chance servers because you have a group of degens on yours
I wished I watched this video earlier T.T
PVP could be in title.
Does base location theory make a big difference in PvE?
Yea the caves arnt ballanced lol its kinda silly
Not being able to TP with loot stuff is utter madness. I would be ok with, say, boss drops or some high-end stuff that might make sense, but when it's just regular stuff, I can only imagine that they wanted to fluff the game time out.
No it was moreso keeping you in the world and for PvP. Otherwise it would just be tping back and forth for individual resources
@@terribletimmy2 I see that point, but many, many other games of this type have had either no restrictions or just a few.
They could easily set a limit, say 20 slots total, and after that, a screen message/menu to say you have too much to TP.
Put a ban on gems, magic items, something that you could pass off as "interfering with TP" " but to block items that you have actually used to construct the very stuff you are wearing.....is nuts.
If we work by that logic, TP would be naked, lol, Like Terminator.
Put restrictions on stuff, but add logic as to why rather than "we want to add play time."
