Where it had been left Hundreds of years ago Extract from the depth Is but a setting sun paradise is scarce In this light that won't shine What is our earthly task But a worthy design? In 2008, New York City's housing crisis & endemic homelessness was becoming a reality for thousands of individuals. During this time my family & I rights were protected by the U.S. constitution, one which result was myself attending a show by the French Krautrock band Stereolab at a venue called Irving Plaza in New York City. Miss Sadier saluted me at the end of their performance.

Well! Say no more, my friend! Say... no... more! NOTE: "The Tale of The Man and the Train" is a story seen on the 2002 film The Land of Gorch. The music used in the story is "The Free Design" by Stereolab. Synopsis: After a long day of meeting the Sunday Sprites and getting to know them well, Dr. Vindaloo asks the main leader of the sprites to tell him a story (as he usually has trouble falling asleep). Upon hearing this request, the latter agrees to the former, on the condition he'll fall asleep as soon as the story finishes. Dr. Vindaloo agrees, and the leader tells him the tale. The story is set in a style reminiscent of a B&W movie. A grumpy old man gets into his car and drives off to work. As he drives, he looks out the window to see people looking on the bright sides of life and making the most out of it. Unfortunately, the old man is completely dissatisfied with the happy townsfolk and he continues driving. The scene shifts to where the man is about to drive across the railroad crossing. Little does he know is that a train (dubbed "The ImageMovers Train") is about to cross his path. Just as the man is about to cross the tracks, the train hits the car, instantly killing the man. Suddenly, the scene shifts to Cornelius Crane Chase in the form of an owl. He slowly cocks his head to the right and he watches the train hit the man and move away. Upon watching this unfold, he flies away. The scene shifts to the old man finding himself inside the train. As he looks around puzzled and confused, he notices people reading newspapers. As he takes a look at one, he slowly pulls down the paper, only to be shocked to see a hideous red face. In fact, the people, and even the conductor driving the train, are revealed to be demons. As the conductor deviously smiles at the old man, the train heads into a glowing red tunnel. Horrified by this, the man tries to run away, but it is too late as the train already enters the tunnel. The story ends with the leader of the Sunday Sprites providing an epilogue to the story: _"And so it happened. The old man was dragged off into that wretched train. No one knows what happened to him, not even you or me. But I do know this... as long as the old man continues to look onto the negative sides of life, he'll never get a single chance at redemption. Thus, it makes him a demon like those wretched passengers."_ After the story, Dr. Vindaloo asks why the man was dragged into the train after he was hit, whilst also asking where did it come from. He also asks where the train was going after the man got hit. However, instead of answering his questions, the leader shushes him, slaps him, and calls him out for not falling asleep. She also tells him that what he asked didn't matter, as "no one even gives a bahookey about trains". Despite all this, she forgives him for calling him out, and Dr. Vindaloo calmly falls asleep as soon as the latter tells him to.
This is NOT the imagery I see in my mind when I hear this music. It always makes me think of long tracking shots of 1950s/1960s school buildings for some reason. I first heard it in a Verizon commercial back in the 2000s and became obsessed with finding the song. (No, the commercial didn't have my imagery in it either)
I thought about this...I agree, the images here in the video are not what I would envision either, but I don't know what I'd see...it's more of a sensation. It's a nice feeling. Nostalgic.
So happy to find a kindred spirit that said it so eloquently YT. Goes without saying that shit is rewarded and brilliance suppressed. We both know that... Can't wait to see them on the 13th at the Ogden in Denver!
The Free Design is a group from the 60/70s that is well worth listening to.
NOW is the time for LOVE
Their song Bubbles is so beautiful .
go fly a kite
Thanks. I'll let My Brother Woody know.
The Free Designs is totally where they stole their entire act from
Where it had been left
Hundreds of years ago
Extract from the depth
Is but a setting sun paradise is scarce
In this light that won't shine
What is our earthly task
But a worthy design?
Some held it in sight
For scattered it may have been
They're ready to fight
In a priceless inkling
The request is here
Ready to resurrect
What else can we do but recover the project
Our earthly design
Can be so detached
What crushes our desire
Not to be trapped
When the higher spheres
Tell us to and not to
Everyone agrees
Demanding more veto
Our earthly design
Can we be so detached
What crushes our desire
Not to be trapped?

Dancing Queen
This is perhaps the most impressive music video I have ever seen, and the fact that the song kicks major ass doesn't hurt either.

Elegant! Make it more elegant with your ideas!

I see red velvet carpeting, like a smoking lounge or something ..
I think they were going for retro silent film from 1900 era. They like to use dated technology in their videos.

the request is here!
ready to resurrect!
what else can we do but recover the project?
♡♡♡
Love your work Nicky Abrahams!

Why is everyone in the world not talking about Stereolab?!
@@christophmoses because they are brainrotted with other artists
Masterpiece. I come back again and again. No reverb on the drums. Heed.
This song makes me think of late 60s/70s prog songs I’ve listened. Very cool
