The new look is growing on me, but it is still so slow. The original VT felt slow and it did the quarter in 15.2 at 92mph. They need to figure out the launch, as wheel hop is still very apparent. I just finished watching your 1981 review, and then this one. Keep going strong, John!
i am considering this car i currently have a 15 mazda 3 hatch so im confused why this site says this when i see so much videos and other reviews that say otherwise, maybe they are above sea level?
Ive actually really like this car for quite some time now. The biggest draw back for me is the lack of power, and the inability to order it without all the extras like power windows and locks. Id make mine a bare bones turbo car, with the 6 speed. But I cant custom order anything anymore, so hyundai have a bit of ways to go yet. Also, big shoutout for the wheels. Those are Pontiac inspired for sure.
200 is good power for a small 4 cylinder. but 23k for the turbo not worth it. to bad they dont make cars like the srt4 neon anymore. 250hp for $17k 13 years later and used ones still bringing 5k
with 1.6 size engine that kinda hp wouldnt be reliable. they designed that car for the 1.6. probably would cost them more than its worth to put another engine in there. the veloster turbo isnt a high seller for them to bother with.
just be glad there is any kind of sporty car being made. how many small sporty cars under $25k are made. I can only think of 2 now the veloster and 2 door civic.
201 Korean hp and 195lb/ft of Korean torque. Same or somewhat similar 0-60 time compare to a mazda 3 2.5L. which only has 184hp and 185lb/ft or Japanese torque... And mazda 3 does it without a DST, regular gas and an extra door with extra cargo space as well... Nice try but still not quite there I would say.
VT 201hp/202trq. CSI 205/192... I dont know about smoked, seriously doubt that. It maybe be a few .00 quicker to 60 seconds. Straight line isnt everything.
@@techpappee motortrend tested a civic si 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and 1/4 mile in 15.2. Smoked is smoked. Si comes standard with lsd also. Not saying i dont like the veloster. I like it. Just saying it will get smoked by a civic si.
i trust caranddriver more also, car and driver general hates on hyundai in everyway so they are not bias at all, this is one of the few very good reviews that hyundai got from caranddriver
it shows there times are bullshit, why else would they not show the speedo when doing 0-60 and why else would they delete my links that everyone else gets to 60 allot faster
I love that the Veloster exists. I also love how it's extreme similarity to the 1st gen model that I have. Long live kooky cars!!
I traded my 2017 in last week for a 2019 turbo, this car is so much fun to drive! I love it.

Friend bought one when it came out. Feels a lot quicker than it is. Also the 7 speed dct is nice

Grab the Veloster Turbo R Spec! The car grips like crazy with the Michellin tires and the 6 speed manual is darn good.

MrBlaze256 its actually a pretty weak hp number for a car this size. Id feel somewhere around 230-240 would be perfect for it.
