I am listening to dt for a long time and i recently started watching live performances because everyone says "Labrie sucks live" and I wanted to see it by myself. But in almost every video i see he sounds great. Ok sometimes he has some voice cracks but honestly who doesn't? Even Dickinson and Halford make some mistakes on the stage. Nevermind dt songs are very difficult to sing in comparison to other metal bands like Metallica or megadeth for example. Labrie is great!
Those are not his voice cracks, those are autotune cracks. If you want to hear how Labrie sounded live (prior 2015) watch Breaking The Fourth Wall, it's very close to what he really sounded like during that tour.
I was at the Toronto show when they played Surrounded and Blind Faith. He sounded good on every song except those 2 and Constant Motion. I remember myself thinkin "watch them put those 2 on the DVD, just watch!" I think MP does that on purpose to poke fun at him! lol His high register is gone, and considering his age and injuries, I wouldn't expect anyone, not just James Labrie, to sing the old stuff fluently live. I still have a lot of respect for him and support him with Dream Theater

Damn! I was at their concert last september 07! It was awesome! Petrucci and Portnoy are just too cool! I like LaBrie too, better than previous singer... Waiting for their next concert in Finland! :)

As a drummer, mike is my idol!! fucking amazing... and also getting good at guitar thanks to the amazing/ insparational Petrucci, and myung rips the bass a new one every show!, DT kicks ass!!!
awesome! this is the best live outfits of dream theater. petrucci doesn't look like a stupid astronaut anymore.now he looks like a true metal guy with that hair. rudess is amazing with his beard. portnoy is pretty cool with that hat and hair. myung still the same. labrie is pretty cool with that image. their music is much heavier now and it's pretty cool. keep it up dream theater -Khah Eslao
What u say is acctually the truth.. don't get why u get thumbs down for it.. JP (on some occations have a tendency to focus more on the technical playing rather the rock and roll part of the music).. Come to think of it, neither do mr Myung.. But if u watch for instance the G3 tour with Vai and Satriani, u see that in the end when jamming, he acctually rocks.. And also on some DT tours, he let's loose.. :) But man he's a good guitarist :)

I don't think we should be worrying about which band is going to slay the other, and just sit back and enjoy beauty they have created.
People just don't like his voice. I do think his voice isn't for everyone's tastes, but there is absolutely NO denying that he is a great singer. People just need to realize that Voice ≠ Singing Skill.
@StrikeMediaProd They are definitely some badasses. The only one in the band that doesn't ALWAYS sound as good as the studio version is LaBrie, but since he ruptured his vocal chords less than 10 years ago, he still does an excellent job. On top of that, every vocalist has good days and bad. Nonetheless, they are extremely impressive and talented.
@MoosyBaby John Myung is one of the best bassists in music. just because he is quiet doesnt mean he's boring. when he's playing he is one of the most interesting musicians out there. not alot of guys can pull off the things he can

They just got there first number 1 hit, have to go on the biggest tour of their lives, but oh wait, there drummer and best friend since grade school just died. talk about mixed emotions. We all no jimmy was a big fan of Mike, and Mike liked jimmy so he was just helping his friends get through some difficult times.
