  • In this video we will be welding on a 6" pipe for the local co-op. We drove this 6" pipe in the ground 7'-8' deep. Got everything laid out, saddled, and fit up now it's time to weld. Take a look through my welding lens and see if we can't both learn something new about the welding puddle. If you like to learn you'll enjoy it around here! Thank you for watching!

My husband and I like the leather knee pads especially on " grip strut " as the plastic knee pads slip at the the wrong moment. Will check out the shirt. Our go to rod for that job 1/8 6010. Very comphy in all positions, about 80 amps on our machines. A pause whip to control heat and wont blow out excess gaps.

Great project and video, Austin; in line with your attitude of continuous improvement, this seems like a great time to mention welding screens (and maybe welding blankets). In your micro-town environment where most folks still retain some common sense regarding arc welding safety, it probably wasn't necessary for you to employ screens, but your audience might appreciate your commentary on how and when portable welding screens are useful. And regarding blankets, say if that old clay tile building you were welding close to, was something like high-finish marble or wood siding, how blankets can (and should) be employed. Keep producing these videos, you have a large and growing audience. The world needs more examples of skilled tradesmen, who try with every new project to do better than the last one.

You’re absolutely correct, it doesn’t matter what you weld that with. So, why not get an LN-25 and some Ultra-Core (gas shielded flux core) so you can make better time on it even if you have to go up on your hourly rate a little. Oh, and it handles the gaps way better too.
