Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2023
- In this video we will be welding on a 6" pipe for the local co-op. We drove this 6" pipe in the ground 7'-8' deep. Got everything laid out, saddled, and fit up now it's time to weld. Take a look through my welding lens and see if we can't both learn something new about the welding puddle. If you like to learn you'll enjoy it around here! Thank you for watching!

My dad used to say… I don’t care what you do, just be the best at it and the work will fine you.
@ matthoward923 - how do those words of wisdom apply to your life if ya don’t mind me asking? Good I’d hope.
@@jimdarhower4945 I’m comfortably retired now with good health and a great family.
My husband and I like the leather knee pads especially on " grip strut " as the plastic knee pads slip at the the wrong moment. Will check out the shirt. Our go to rod for that job 1/8 6010. Very comphy in all positions, about 80 amps on our machines. A pause whip to control heat and wont blow out excess gaps.
I got to say that looks spectacular, really straight. I like the 90 degree elbows into the ground. Looks very professional.. Mr. Ross !!! Bravo !!!
Thank you! I cannot take credit for the design. The guy that subbed this job to me already had it all designed in his head and supplied the 90s and pipe. But thanks again for taking the time to show your appreciation! I sure appreciate it!
I like how you explain everything, great welding channel, THANKS
My pleasure!! Thank you for watching the video!
You make it look easy Ross.
I live and weld in north Florida and have found that the Pipeliners Cloud Coolback welding shirt to be one of the best I have purchased. They have a mid-weight front with light back which helps with temp regulation. Definitely a must try.
Sure did enjoy this video, that was quite a job you had there and it turned out good. Hope the OLDTIMERS around there give their approval . Thanks for sharing with us and keep up the great work ethics and videos and having a little fun while you work helps too. Fred.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
It was a fantastic job you did. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Have a great day and take good care of yourself👍👍👨🏭👨🏭
You bet! Pleasure is all mine! Thank you for watching!
I really liked this video I needed a good video to watch . It great that you show your mistakes (putting the ground in the wrong spot) It is nice to know that I am not the only one that does stuff like that 😀 Austin you make it look easy filling those big gaps I always have issues doing that but Thanks again Jb
Just keep burnin rod. You’ll look back one day and notice your progress. 😉
Your videos have been great since the beginning brother, I have always enjoyed them, and this one is no exception, and thank you for all you do!
God bless you and your family as well!
I appreciate you taking the time to share this message. It means a lot. Thank you for watching!
Hoping things are great for you and your family Austin✌️👊😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏❤️ thanks for the great effort once again...
We are doing well! We hope you are doin great also! Thanks!
Got my coffee n ready to watch 👨🏻🏭
Great project and video, Austin; in line with your attitude of continuous improvement, this seems like a great time to mention welding screens (and maybe welding blankets). In your micro-town environment where most folks still retain some common sense regarding arc welding safety, it probably wasn't necessary for you to employ screens, but your audience might appreciate your commentary on how and when portable welding screens are useful. And regarding blankets, say if that old clay tile building you were welding close to, was something like high-finish marble or wood siding, how blankets can (and should) be employed. Keep producing these videos, you have a large and growing audience. The world needs more examples of skilled tradesmen, who try with every new project to do better than the last one.
That’s a great subject matter! I agree that it would be very helpful to lots of viewers. Thank you for your input and for your complements. I sure appreciate them. Thank you for being here and watching!
Well I didn't have a coffee but I did have a big slice of Costco log cake for this build. Nice work👌
Thanks! And thank you for watching!
You sure do stack dimes !! Slick brotha 👍🏻
Thanks! And thank you for watching!
Was wondering if you used that saddle scribe I sent you to make saddles . worked well when I used it on Sch 80 -6 inch you're doing a fine job Austin. Can send pictures so others can make their own
Love watching your videos always learn something from you and I was wondering if your welding jackets will come back can we get an update on that if you know for sure that you won’t get any more?
You bet.
Another great video. You make it look easy. Haha
it's good practice to try to make all your welds look pretty even when they don't have to. it's keeps your skills sharp for when they DO have to look pretty.
I agree
Oh that darn ground
It's about time they made those wireless 😂
Running along there you could have used your umbrella on a pipe stand or chain grip it to the pipe
Great video
Thanks for your time
🤣 I know right! That will be the day there… game changer
Freeze rod professional👍
Shhhheeoooot boy i need that In front of my shop I honestly never thought of that idea the bay doors are at the bottom of a little hill coming into town and every winter the cars slide down the ice and into my front doors that little barrier would be the ticket I see my next project in the near future right there
It looks good .
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Still looks good for gaps a welder as yourself can fill that little gap
Those are the good jobs
Looking good brother be safe out there and keep burning them rods
Thanks! You too!
There's a lot to be said about new rod! Thanks
Good work
Thanks
good vedeo Austin, best regards
Thanks!
Very good Video 👍 👍
Thank you 👍
I’ve tried 3/16 8010 rod and I enjoyed it plus w/a 5/32 8010. I want more😂
Right on
cracked me up when you found the ground not on the string of pipe you're working on...still chuckling over that one...how many would have just ground to the closest like you did...probably a lot!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the kind of job's i like to get.
Need to get my welding rig fixed and back on the road.
In the meantime I been laying flex pipe in the city until I get my rig fixed 😢😢
Austin I do some of this work repair at asphalt plants construction stone boxes things of that nature. On a job like that with a bunch on non critical welds I use a voltage sensing suitcase with flux core it speeds up the process and aides in pore fit up. You ever try that
You have me wanting to try some 8010 now but 6010 still frustrates me.
you should of used your new cloud n tried it out instead of being in that sun but either way great video brother always learning something new!! 👍
I actually didn’t have it yet… or else I would have. This video has been filmed for a while just took longer to edit and get things squared away with KnoxFR.
How’d you land this it looks fun 🤟
I would of used duel shield fluxcore and a suitcase
You’re absolutely correct, it doesn’t matter what you weld that with. So, why not get an LN-25 and some Ultra-Core (gas shielded flux core) so you can make better time on it even if you have to go up on your hourly rate a little. Oh, and it handles the gaps way better too.
There’s a mountain lion on the back of your truck lol
To many times I forgot to put earplugs on now my left ear is just an echo chamber,
One thing NICE about welding overhead on gravel is you don't get BeBe's rolling underneath you. 😂
That’s right. I love how you found the silver lining. There’s always a silver lining. 👌😎
fence worth more than building
Saw it a few times in this video. You would strike your arc and then drag it like a quarter of the way around the pipe before starting your pass? Is there a reason for that or just like a personal habit?
What Thorogood boots are you wearing there? Are those the waterproof ones? Love the welding content
we run Carhartt FR at work, jean pants are great, shirts lose left sleaves fast. Fun fact-in 60 or 80 years some kid is going to sit on that and eat an ice cream or kiss his girlfriend-
Like to see the car after it hits that
Austin Ross Champion. Did I miss the leveling of the saddling?
No, I did not get all that on film. The guy who subbed this job to me does not particularly like or want to be on UA-cam.
Any advice for a beginner doing a vertical weld with 6010
That’s awesome, i thought i saw your rig at the co-op the other day but wasn’t 100%. Do you know Zach?
Yes I do know zach
Where can i get that nearly like a hard sleeve you have on under your glove to stop the pipe warming up your arm? dont think they sell them in my country.
Cheers
Check out outlawleather.com
And search for Welding Arm Pad
nothing wrong with a little gap a welder can handle makes more for 100%weld
are you like preheating the pipe when you move the stinger and rod all across the pipe?
More like pre heating my welding rod. Great question!
do you also do this on the pipeline? or you keep them in a hotbox@@arosswelding
Yes. The pipeline welding is what got me doing the pre heat of the rod
What happened to the welding body you were building on that new Ford super duty???
Stay tuned. The final video is coming.
Hey, why u welding on rusty pipe? No grinding? 😮
@Austin ross why don't u ever wire weld big repeating jobs like these ?
🤷♂️ I just haven’t takin the time to invest in the set up. How long do you think it would have takin a guy with the wire set up?
There was about 20 x 6” saddle welds. Plus a handful of bevel welds.
@@arosswelding I'm not sure how long it would take as I don't weld any pipe but when I do get to mig or flux weld from time to time I really enjoy how much I can weld with out stopping or even raising my hood up at all. Stick is my favorite by far still because a mig gun sure don't fit a lot of places and I just love the feel and feed back u get from a stick great video regardless love watching you do your thing saddling pipe isn't easy either I've tried before it didn't fit ever very well. Ill stick to structural until I can learn to be a pro like yourself.
I plan to get a wire set up some day. I think it would be a great thing to share on the channel. I feel you on the stick welding. It’s a very familiar and fun feel for myself as well.
why so deep in the ground seems like over kill and wasted pipe
Austin, Why is your generator so far from where you are welding?
I have a habit of trying to keep my truck a good distance away from where I will be throwing slag and sparks with my grinder. I do not like sparks hitting my windows or my paint. Great question! Thank you for asking!
Thanks good idea
How much did u quote this one for Bro? If u don’t mind me asking
I just charged 90/hr
I was considered a sub- contractor on this one.
Awesome bro… I look forward to Friday’s… hopefully one day I can weld with u. I do repairs on the side and I took on a little side job today made 250 for 2 hours of work 👍🏻
How do you charge $$ for a job like this by the hour or ??
I charge by the hour yes
Что за труба канализационная ято ли не понятно
Were did u get them 90’s at
We got them from a local place, but I’m sure a guy could find them online nowadays.
@@arosswelding I’m local to u is why I’m asking
We got them Fechner pump and supply in cushing
Boop
Austin you are the best one. I try to contact you using WhatsApp but I can't
You gonna yak or weld LOL
No wonder you are grounding the wrong rail with that much gadgets and gear...
🤣
Nice bumper rail
Thanks! I could not have done it without the guy who subbed the job to me. He has the skid steer and driver.
They call that a branch weld fit up
