This is the Railroad guy. Full time RV'er. I feel your pain on dealing with RV issues. I had a heater issue as well. Guy came out & looked it over. Long story short. I guess the heater works better if ya got propane! I felt like an idiot.
Thanks for posting these videos Austin! I’m about to get out of the Navy after 8 years of service and pursue a career in welding! It will be a gamble leaving everything I know as a helicopter mechanic but I know the reward will be well worth it! Keep killing it out there!
Yes there is a delay on commands for the thermostat. Probably 15-20 seconds. There's been many furnaces pulled and there wasn't anything wrong with them. I have that sick feeling in my stomach every time I fire mine up the first time of the season. But look at it like this .... you learned something from it. We never stop learning and we never know it! The human body is amazing !
Hello Austin my name is Austin also hehe anyways ...I have been following you and Kayla for so many years and have never spoke out but I have to ... without being a big sissy with tears in my eyes and still maintaining my big bad welder image I just wanted to say thank you so much for inspiring me and giving me the confidence and comfort I needed to attain my pipeline welding dreams , I rely on your videos to get through my life as weak as that sounds and my old lady does as well thank you Kayla ! living In such a hard area to stay motivated pennslyvania with not many rig trucks even in sight :( Thank you !!! keep burning rods people rely on you for guidance !
Thank you so much for opening up and sharing your thoughts. You have no idea how much that means to us. We are so humbled by this comment. And we are glad to know the videos have been helpful. This is why we share. Thanks again.
That's because we have the most natural gas besides west Virginia and a liberal governor who is against fracking and wants to put in extrusion taxes to drive workers out of his state
Not gonna lie everyday I go to lunch at the truck stop out by my shop and wonder if I will see you passin through Indiana been following for awhile now wish I would have broke out in pipeline work when I was a bit younger , but at 47 I feel I'm a little old now . I did billboard work for bout 9 yrs. then landed a shop job getting paid peanuts for someone who has close to 30 yrs. exp in welding and fab. Stay safe out there brother and be blessed I hope to run into you someday.
Great content. I'm just starting my path to rig. Going to welding school, get right. Got a camper. Working on a truck to pull it. Get experience and get paid
Austin and kayla yall are awesome ive enjoyed every video ive watched .. I just started into cathodic protection and its kinda cool to see the pipeline side of the job. keep up the good work
Those welds look really good I'm in high school learning how to weld and so far I've excelled in the arc welding now I'm debating carpentry or welding cause both are super fun
I had the same question myself. Decided to go with welding because EVERYTHING in this world needs welding some way or another. When you know how to fabricate and weld ontop of that you're limitless.
I love yall and watched ever single video of yall but Ive been in the pipeline industry for 4 years now and love ever day it's got it's ups and downs though and the good news this ole boy is fixing to break out welding so maybe we might just run into one another one of these days
Hey! Thanks for watching. That is awesome. Love learning more about anyone who watches. Glad you found pipeline and that you love it. Say Hi, if you see us around.
I hope you have a good year! Work looks a plenty this year so I’m excited, hopefully I can meet y’all if y’all do another fan meet this year. Stay safe Austin
Ray, we appreciate it! I'm excited about the opportunities it looks like we will all have this year. Praying for a solid year for anyone willing to put in the work. We definitely do plan to do more meetups this year. Where are you located? I'm guessing you pipeline and travel?
Austin and Kayla I’m sorry for the late reply guys, I work in the refineries as a boilermaker, I mainly work in Texas and Louisiana but I travel wherever the work takes me.
Here in Canada after October no trailers hauled around pipelining because the camp grounds are closed for the winter . TOO C__O___L__D. . You can though have a hard time getting a motel because the oil field is busiest in the winter . Exception in Canada now because of government shutting things down due a prime minister who does not like the oil industry . it has caused Huge layoffs and 80% of the drilling rigs either not drilling here or now down south in the US . People are really hurting here
I can imagine it would be too cold there. We have talked about leaving the trailer at home if we do somewhere like North Dakota again. We were only there till November and could just tell we wouldn't like RV living up there in the winter months. Hate to hear that work has gotten slow. Why is it normally busiest in the winter? Here it is the opposite. We experienced a very slow year as a whole year before last and I know how difficult it can be on people and their families. Hoping y'all are back up and running soon!
Hey Austin, I am in Central/Northern Michigan, If you get up this far and have issues give me a shout. . I probably can't fix the problem but I can offer you a hot meal and a warm place to crap out! If you get North of Flint Michigan and need a helping hand give me a shout....I will at the very minimum make sure you get a hot meal and a safe place to crap out for a bit! My sister and brother in law know more about campers that I will ever know but I will guarantee that you will have a save place to sleep and eat, the rest we will figure out together!
When you stop that that pilot gas station I stopped there every morning to get coffee I live about 10 minutes away And I think I saw you on 70 West hedding back home 1/10/2019
What did you have to walk around and do to your trailer lights? I was up in Ohio before thanksgiving about the time you headed home from wv that round. When I got up there and hooked up they asked me if I had a heated water hose. Being from the south I’ve never heard of one so I went to a local rv dealer and picked one up. Let me just say 300 bucks later the hose didn’t freeze. But like I was thought when I was young when it gets cold down here just let the water run low all night and should be good for the most part.
Austin and Kayla lmfao!! I seen that and thought what in the world. Good idea tho never thought of that. How do y’all make your own? Prolly a lot cheaper and might help me next time I’m in a bind. I brought the (pirit 100’) it was that or another brand but I’m the kinda guy I want more then enough for a price just Incase. They had a 25 and a 50’ hose but they was higher then the 100’ but they had a longer warranty for them. I’m not much on warranty’s when I have to send it back to the maker tho. It worked good for the time I was there the shorter hoses were about $20 higher.
@@BullRidingIsMyLife never done it but im sure take a good garden hose and wrap it with heat tape how tight of wrap would depend on hose length vs heat tape length then take pipe insolation and shove hose tape wrap inside then wrap with. Guess what. Duct tape. Might want to leave a little heat tape out on both ends to have some heat on ends when connected then put a small piece of insolation on once connected. Should work
keith weedt I think with the travel I figured it was about $400. When I went home for Christmas without the trailer is was about $250. About 1000 miles one way.
Yes it has. Kayla's is worse. Mine is low enough that it doesn't both vision so I just don't bother replacing because I've rarely been able to keep a windshield in good condition.
@@AustinandKayla lol I hear that. Replaced mine a couple years back and chips everywhere already. It's a struggle keeping work trucks decent. Good to see you got the furnace up and running though
We also have an open range and our furnace wouldn't work a few weeks back. We found there was a reset button...hit that and it fired right up. I love when its an easy fix...most of the time its not.
It's hard to say. I hope all of my life, but I'm sure it will look much different than it does today. I'm sure the industry will see big shifts in the coming years but honestly, I'm not educated enough to predict any type of evolution. I would be curious to know others thoughts though...?
Folks it's not all fun and nostalgic to be a pipeline welder by the time you take out for motel rooms for food all your expenses and you allow for breakdown's repairs and everything it could be a very hard life if you want to make money welding and instead of making other people money like the big pipe contractors who make you think that they're doing you a favor about paying you what they do it's best that you'd be in business for yourself find some type of merchandise to manufacture and then sell it Be your own manufacturer some have been in business making trailers some even swing sets one welder Went to work making deer stands and was able to quit his job and do it full time right out of his garage he made them of aluminum When you work for yourself you can take as many breaks as you want sip as much tea as you want eat when you want have your own warm shop and warmed so you don't have to be out there in the cold laying down in a ditch on your back with sparks burning you up you've got more control over the whole atmosphere of it all if you're gonna make money well then have your own shop. Now let me tell you something that's gonna be a mind blower do you know most welders will never buy their own welding machine most welders will always go from job to job looking to work for somebody else and make somebody else rich and will never own their own welding machine and if they need welding done they have to hire somebody or call somebody who had sense enough to buy their own welding machine.

Did you use 7018 5/32 on your test welds? Can you explain how many passes you used and did you use a 6010?
It’s cool to notice how the Lord blesses you even with your furnace in the winter with advice from a complete stranger! Praise the LORD

You hired on and got an orientation before your test? Always been the other way around for me
Nice to see ya wearing Wisconsin made boots
How is it pulling your rig with tires that aggressive? I've always been worried about it being to loose due to the tall lugs.
Wow that’s funny, you passed the exit to my place in Ohio off 70 haha
Thorogoods! Love em
Why did you lay out the branch? Did they require it or just preference?
When you travel from home to a job what is your expense on fuel. Oklahoma to Ohio that's a chunk of travel time.
keith weedt I think with the travel I figured it was about $400. When I went home for Christmas without the trailer is was about $250. About 1000 miles one way.
What is the name of those lights that you are using for the camper those are slick I'd love to get a set I have the same kinda issues with my camper
Great video!

How often do you have an inspector watching over your shoulder?
So you have to test in on each new project?
Yes. Most every job I go on I have to test.
Nice welds!!!
What part of wv are you in? One of the last videos in WV I notice you were at Jarco, the trailer place.
Nice welds 👌
So if you did have to park it does that mean you pay to park it plus pay for a hotel?
Love these videos
We are so glad. Thanks for hanging out with us. Hope you have a good week!
Where can I purchase some test coupons 6,8 or 12 inch pipe already bevel
Are all pipelines windshields broken?
Thanks

Love the videos, one of these days can you do a review on your thorogoods?
Yes, I will on my channel. So far I have been loving them.

Awsome video, great to hear you are working, and you have heat !!!!!!
