It "wastes 2 gallons of water for every gallon it makes". We need more of theses babies on the planet. There should be a law that the "wasted water" be used for something useful, like filling a toilet, watering a lawn or flowers, washing cars etc.
My new American system had old out of date instructions for USA, but with this excellent tutorial and a little patience, all is good. Invaluable. Thank you
Instead of doing it this way, could you hook the line that is supposed to connect to the faucet into the ice maker/ water line in the door of the refrigerator so the RO water passes through the refrigerator filter as well
Thanks. I have one but someine else installed it and i have nit been using it probable need to check connections and get all new filters. Our water is very hard and tastes disgusting. I really need this.
Are there any creative ways people use the drain water? I know it would have a bunch of junk in it, but maybe using it to wash your car or something...
Water will not enter the pressure tank. I'm running a pressure pump from a shallow well set at 30/15. Pressure in RO tank is at 6.5. Discount the feed line and there is water.
Why do we need the drain line ( black line ) ? At my house, it seems like the water running All the Time with the BLACK LINE . is it a problem? Thanks 🙏
Why not simply answer concerns through the main social network? What filters are included, are they designed with the current needs of every region, let’s say, New York? Is the system better than a vending machine? What percent of water exiting the the carbon filters gets filtered if most of the water molecules and the sediments won’t touch the surface of the carbon?
Was wondering how much water is wasted and can I cut a tee in and run 10 feet to my ice maker? Also is this for a faucet that doesn’t have a brine line?
It wastes about 1 gallon for every 4 gallons made. Yes, you can run a line to an ice maker using a tee (we have a how to video on that). And yes, this works for a faucet without a brine line. Thanks for the questions.
Hi there, Please help trouble shoot. my drain line it always running regardless Faucet line is on or not, This is waste a lot of water. Thank you in advance for your reply.
If you want to take chemicals out of the water like chlorine or harmful contaminants then yes it is a good solution for your home. If you are worried about the minerals being removed you can add a remineralization filter to your system.
That shows two different systems, so it is two different examples. One is where to attach the black line if you have a permeate pump, and where to attach it if you do not.
So I recently received a reverse osmosis filtration system for a birthday present. I am wondering however because I rent my home I am reluctance to drill into the drain line since when I move I fully intend to take it with me and don't want to leave any kind of damage behind. Since it is just a drain line is it ok to have it emptied into a bucket or something. I'm sorry if this sounds ignorant but since its just handling waste water from a filtration system I would hope there wouldn't be a lot and it would just need a periodic emptying. I figured this may be a good compromise so I can still use the system but not cause any problems for my rental situation.
You would be emptying the bucket very frequently, and if you forgot at some point you'd have quite the mess. When I rented a place I ran the drain tubing out of the cabinet an put it in the sink. However, at the time I only used the system for an aquarium so my usage was infrequent. If you did install the saddle clamp you could always plug it when your lease is up. John Guest makes small plugs that go into the fittings. You'd have to buy a new saddle clamp when you leave, but sure beats risking a flood.
Hello. Good is about 300 to 500 mg/litre. Excellent is anything below 300mg/litre. With a good RO you should be well into the "excellent" level. There is no way to adjust the filter in an RO. Adding what is called a Blending System to an RO can raise the TDS to a specific level if you desired to, but the RO alone just has one setting (removing 90 to 95 % of TDS). If your TDS rises when using your RO alone, than it's most likely time to change the filters. Hope this helps.
You certainly cat route it in addition to your sink. We recently had an RO installed and had the doll that. We have it at the sink refrigerator and ice maker from refrigerator too.
DobI have to drill a hole and alter my sink to install the faucet that comes with it? Is there any way I can install the system and connect it to the existing faucet?
You can use your existing faucet, but you may have problems with flow rates and not enough storage space in your water tank. Our faucets are designed to work nicely with our RO systems, so we would recommend using the kit faucet.
+serdgeedgerunner do you mean you cant open the filter vessels? if so, just use rubber palm gloves. they will do the job just right. plastic wrenches break easily
+perruno666 I tried it in a rubber gloves. It's very tight. I tried strap wrench, it was "slippery", didn't grip it. I will try again with different strap wrench.
I have a Apec RO90 Reverse Osmosis system it has a 4 gallon tank. In the manual it says it takes about 2-3hours to fill the tank. I noticed faucet never stops, water trickles endlessly after 1 hour. Is this normal? wouldnt faucet stop after the tank is emptied since it takes a while to fill the tank/filter water?
@@winkawak Sorry, I wasn't completely accurate. Water will still come out of the faucet but when the storage tank is empty it would continue to come out but only as a trickle, and continue like that until the tank is filled again. If that is what is happening to you then it is normal.
@@uswatersystems thanks. the manual says it takes 2-3 hrs for a full tank, constant trickling after 1hr seems off to me. i could be wrong but worried my system is not filtering correctly
I know this is an old video but maybe someone can answer this question for me. I bought a 5 stage filter system that looks kind of like this system but did not come with a tank. Should it have one? Instructions on install are the same but I have a line that goes from water supply to sediment filter. Then a line going from older and waste filter to faucet and a line going from another filter from top to a waste line with a shutoff valve on that line. No tank. Does the waste line need to be there? Does it run all the time? My instructions don't say.
If it's just a filter system then no you don't need a tank. If it is an actual RO system then you should have a tank. It's hard to answer without knowing the actual system you have.
This guy seems so done with people. Like I can just see in his mind, "Stupid consumers, you have me doing readouts on UA-cam? Why, my instructions in the package are so clear!"
Rich S You need a fitting to split the RO water line, a fitting to connect to your fridge line, and some tubing. Or you can just buy our install kit: www.uswatersystems.com/ice-maker-hookup-kit.html

Yes. All of our RO's come with a Membrane Filter that removes Alkalinity. But, if you want High pressure water I would consider one with a Permeate Pump.

Will this clear the white cloudy issue and what looks to be calcium build up
This helped me so much. Especially the efficiency formula. Thanks a lot
Any idea how to install this in a camper van?
Does this have a color changing element if does is the an indicator since the housings. ..

Hello there, how can I tell if I have the right psi on the tank?
I would like to know, why the first flush of water has carbon, the ro should not remove it? Thank you!
That's from the actual carbon filter on the RO system. It just needs to flush out excess carbon from the filter the first time you run it.
I used RO and very beneficial for health.
Thank you. Got my system hooked up
Is RO good for home? Isn’t it demineralized water?
If you want to take chemicals out of the water like chlorine or harmful contaminants then yes it is a good solution for your home. If you are worried about the minerals being removed you can add a remineralization filter to your system.

you should put in in a garage and run the drain out into a flowerbed. Recycling and no damage!

Just replace the piece of PVC pipe from home Depot.

Does the system remove fluoride?
It removes 95% of all solutes. The membrane is designed so that only water molecules can pass through.
Does RO filter out lithium ion?
It filters out Lithium, yes.

How much water system price seven stages.
A 7 stage RO is pretty much overkill. You shouldn't need anything beyond 5 stages.

that shows thee amount of filth in the water
can you prove it with clean spring wather (there has to be efficiency 98% not 50% as by city wather ) to prove this statement of yours

Whats the water wastage from RO system ?
It depends on the water quality and type of RO system (and several other factors), but the average RO wastes 3-5 gallons for every 1 gallon made.
