reconaissance is honestly a really underrated part of this game, i love surveying the area with the binoculars or through a sniper scope to get a view of the area. most youtube videos skip it since they've rehearsed the whole thing a hundred times
It is not underrated. Is the most important gameplay mechanic in the game. It is introduced at the very first part of the game and is the core of your strategic freedom and technique.
Yeah unfortunately, the super speed headshot method is simply the most efficiently rewarding way to play. And like a wise game dev once said: given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game.

Dude i can't agree more with you... that gameplay is crap ("sprinting around headshooting everyone"), and it's literally the opposite of what the game is supposed to be: a *stealth* game!! Honestly i hardly digest the WR runs too, but at least they come up with something smart sometimes... On the other hand if you go for a total 'ghost run' your gameplay is boring as hell... it takes forever to wait for the moment that allows you to pass on or do something. I think Null has the 'sweet-spot' gameplay. He goes for a ghost run, but when it takes too long he interacts with the soldiers just to keep going (for some reason he hates fultoning and d-horse, but that's ok... he's a true spartan, he needs nothing! if he could he'd go on a mission naked swimming all the way from Seychelles to Afghanistan! xD).

Btw, when you kill someone you make the game easier, bc there are less soldiers around, so in a sense it takes less skill to accomplish a mission that way. I have no doubt that a killing stealth can be fun to watch and challenging, but i prefer the good old non-lethal way (just a personal taste xD)
Finally someone who plays like people used to play metal gear back in the day, it was all about hiding, catching people off guard, blending in, using the environment... now all around UA-cam i see people playing it like it's far cry.
The cool thing about these videos you see all over YT is that they're blowing shit up but still keeping it stealth with no alerts. That's like the ultimate level of freedom - not only can you go full stealth or full explosions but you can even do explosive stealth. Man, I love this game!

It's interesting how there are several ways to accomplish the same mission. You did everything perfectly, as the game proposes. This same complex has a "secret" entrance, just climb the side of the mountain close to the target. Only two enemies patrol this area, so for you this would be an easy way to complete the mission. However, this is an excellent video! congratulations!
One of these days I'll replay the game, with minimal HUD and perhaps with slightly increased sight distance for the enemies and some other immersive mods to go along. Because the few times I've played MGSV without HUD markers have been some of the most engaging gameplay I've had. I did one replay of Over The Fence using a security team member and sitting in a guard tower with a conscript in one hand and a pistol in the other pointed towards the ladder for five minutes as the base looked for me was one of the most memorable gaming moments I had.
It's the final realisation and perfect execution of Kojima's gameplay vision...tactical espionage action. It's just a shame that his epic send off was apparently unfinished. The story is...bleh, and the missions should've been fleshed out more.
You can play this game even non stealthly, it's incredible. I'm doing another run but in aggressive stealth play but won't mind killing everyone if i get caught and the game is much more enjoyable like that

I love scanning every single enemy and even then I sneak around with DD, who IDs em even more when I get closer. Once enemies are within kill range I order DD to slit the throat of one and I headshot the other at the same time, and we move 2 enemies at a time.
Impressive video! @4:34 is the enemy deaf? I enjoy stealth games VERY much but they have to be VERY realistic, otherwise, I don't enjoy them. Ghost Recon Wildlands is still my number 1.
Go to development, then helicopter, purchase the speaker upgrade, after go to cassette tapes, then music, and you should have the option to pick music for your helicopter. Hope this helps!
If you really did a "no traces" run it's impossible to score less than S rank. "No traces" awards you 100k bonus score and makes you get a "perfect stealth" which grants you 50k bonus score. To reach an S rank, you need to score 130k in total points. Which means that anyone who makes it "no traces" automatically gets an S rank

Never played this game, but maybe someone can explain how hes not noticed or heard by any of the enemies hes sneaking by? The crunch of gravel, his footsteps, hes in plain sight most of the time. And normal people would turn their heads at the sound of any noise in a semi war type zone. Or for any noise at all in any setting. Wheres the realism? lol

They're pretty good, he just makes the game look easy. mgs5 Probably has some of the best enemy ai I've seen but its very easily exploited. The other mgs games are much less forgiving but just as exploitable

Always loved slow minimalist stealth as opposed to super speed head shot stealth. Just wish game score rewarded it more

The stealth gameplay mechanics in MGSV are masterful. I just wish this game felt like an MGS game from a story telling aspect.
the story is oddly weak for MGS standards. The beginning and ending are great. But the middle part? I didn't even want to follow the storyline :D

The main goal of Mission 30 is to basically to reach the end of OKB Zero. In order to S Rank it, you need speed, not stealth.

The camera movements are nice, but instead of the iDroid, use helicopter grenade next time. And also, try to utilize the knife.

They picked it up while free roaming or during another mission. When you pick materials they stay gone until you've played a few missions
