This is one of Queen's most underrated songs. This song was beautifully sang it had everything in it the drums especially at the end were amazing and of course the guitar work that Brian did was phenomenal. Freddie knew just how to express he knew how to pronunciate and color every single word so that you not just felt what he was saying but you got a picture in your mind's eye when he sang at least I did. When I would listen to songs like this I could see a little movie In My Mind of what was going on he was just phenom

One of my all time, absolute favourite Queen songs. Transitions a-plenty, lyrics that describe what we have all been through or thought about, Brian's god-like guitar riffs, Roger killing it on the drums, and John's incessant bass beat. And, of course, the unsurpassable vocals of Sir Freddie. A song of epic proportions - you really have to wonder how this wasn't the smash hit that it thoroughly deserved to be.

  • @hannyhawkins7804

Ahhhhh, possibly my favourite Queen masterpiece: Freddie’s vocals have the emotion turned up to 11; Queen’s heavenly, aching harmonies, perfect instrumentation; the trauma of the heavy attack in the last movement: it still gives me chills every single time I hear it.
I cannot listen to it once. It goes on repeat.
This is the first time I’ve seen a reaction to it. Thanks! Also, long hair? Yeah👍👏👏😁
FYI, for fans of this song, It’s Late Alternative Version, from the News of the World sessions, is IMHO even better.

Sweet ass tune! So many of Queen's songs were solid even though they weren't really considered big hits.
"Tenement Funster" for example. Great tune by Roger that wasn't a big hit. Another was "In only Seven Days". A great tune that wasn't pushed as a single.
I agree with what you said that, these things make an album great. They don't all have to be hits but if they are solid, it makes an awesome album! Almost all of Queen's albums are like this!!

This is a favourite among true fans. It was never a single so not on any of the greatst hits compilations, meaning that casual fans are unaware of it. It's an epic track which encompasses everything great about the band. Everything is great here, the riff, the baseline, rogers drum fills and, of course, Fred's incredible vocals and those trademark Queen harmonies.

as a queen nut, imo the following songs deserve wide acclaim that only true fans and talent seekers would know.most of them were not regularly played on radio you kinda had to have the album. all queens music merits and deserves years of listening. this list is from the 3 albums between 76' and 78'. fwiw here they are: long away(sung by brian),the millionaire waltz(quite popular),you and i(absolutely a beautiful tune written by deacon), white man(wow! a british band singing about the plight of native north americans), all dead all dead (brian vocals with some stellar band harmonies),spread your wings(popular),get down make love(oh my god, an insanely mesmerizing tune),sleeping on the sidewalk(brian rockin' it),who needs you(another beautifully poetic deacon tune sung brilliantly by freddie).mustapha(bombastic, dynamic, explosive),jealousy(ooh so sad),dead on time(brian may wow),in only 7 days(another lovely deacon song, listen to it a few times), fun it( a cool discoey tune with roger and freddie sharing vocals)more of that jazz(roger singing over a great guitar riff with a slice of every song on the record mashed in near the end. i'm not trying do be a know it all, these are just my opinions for those that may be new to the magic. cheers from canada

Always a great reaction! Queen had so many songs that are underrated because of the major hits, this is one. Brian really struggled with the failure of his first marriage to the point he became depressed. He wrote another song about his struggle between his wife and lover, Too Much Love Will Kill You. Freddie recorded it but it didn't make the last album. Later Queen released it after his death; Brian also recorded it as lead vocal and released it. He eventually married the actress in 2000. Here is the song: ua-cam.com/video/ivbO3s1udic/v-deo.html

lawrence abeyta I am seeing Queen + Adam Lambert in Charlotte, NC in August. It is sad that Freddie can’t be with us but I am glad Brian and Roger are still bringing us the music that we love! I also like that they use the + instead of incorporating the person singing under the Queen banner. Adam Lambert is fine...but he is no Freddie...it makes me happy that even Lambert says he isn’t there to replace Freddie, no one could ever replace Freddie, but to remind us of his brilliance and give voice to the songs

    • @jeffwatts1126
      @jeffwatts1126 5 років тому

This song is actually not all that early. Id call it mid Queen. they were already superstars when this album was released. In fact, they only had two massive albums after this one. Jazz and The game. After that, although they stayed huge in Europe, they didnt have a whole lot of success in America, kind of disappeared, as far as top of the scene releases go. their old music always remained on the radio, but I didnt hear much of their new stuff. then Freddie died, and they exploded again

With Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen literally invented the music video. It's just natural these songs don't have music videos, they were made before BoRhap :)
Because of Queen the rest of the artists noticed what a great idea was to make a music video, and they all started doing them. And that's the reason MTV appeared. So basically, MTV exists because of Queen.
Editing: my bad, this song was after BoRhap. I guess they only made music videos out of singles back then

You'd do all right with long hair! Please please please do '39 (studio/official version)! You've been on such a Brian kick lately that you GOTTA hear him do lead vocals! And then I'm In Love With My Car so you can hear Roger (live in Montreal 81, or for more fun, check out the Killer Queen/I'm in Love with My Car video from that concert). And if you want to hear just the two of them harmonising and singing lead, No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) will kick you in the guts AND make you appreciate their voices.

    Why is nobody talking about
Freddie Mercury’s solo song „Living on my own (official video)“ ? This song is amazing though! And so the video is 🔥🙌🏻
So please put this on your reaction list!
The footage in the video is from his 39 birthday party in Munich (and a day after 😅) and the song is so catchy but also sad at the same time because he’s singing about his loneliness..
If you react to the song be careful not to react to the 90s remix version, the original is waaayy more better

Would you be interested in giving a go Queen songs not sang by Freddie? Brian's '39 (album version, live was performed by Freddie), Sail Away Sweet Sister or All Dead, All Dead. Roger's I'm in Love with My Car (might be one big meme lately but it's a kickass song), Drowse or More of That Jazz. Just to name a few examples. It's only in the 80s that Freddie sang all the lead vocals. And while there's an excellent reason for that, some of my personal favourites from them were sang by Bri and Rog and I'm always hoping new fans realise how unbelievably talented this entire band was.

Yes, please Brian’s ‘39. Roger sang lead on many great Queen songs, but if you’re only going to hear one of them, choose Fight from the Inside, Roger’s slapdown of punk musicians, recorded in the studio next door to where the Sex Pistols were recording their first and on,y album. Roger’s drums on I’m in Love with My Car are epic, and you can hear Roger’s love for John Lennon, especially the Plastic Ono Band in beautiful Drowse.

Watch the movie “Wayne’s World”. This movie included “Bohemian Rhapsody” and when the movie was released, “Bohemian Rhapsody” hit #1 for the second time I believe 10 years later. Mike Meyers also played the dude who refused to let “Bohemian Rhapsody” to be Queen’s single.

Unfortunately, although Freddie was so sick they couldn’t do videos or early on, couldn’t afford to do videos for, you can always check and see if Queen + Adam Lambert performed them. You will always see live versions of QAL (they still don’t use auto-tune). There is a stunning version of “It’s Late” by Queen + Adam Lambert in Seattle. Also, at the same Seattle show, one of my favorite lesser known songs, “Spread Your Wings” is definitely worth checking out. Of course, since these QAL performances are concerts, they mostly have to stick to the bigger hits, but they usually try to put one or two lesser known songs in.

This is my favorite Queen song. I'm not much for the pseudo-operatic stuff of A night at the Opera or the faux gospel of A Day at the Races. Queen could rock, and if you gave them a reason to do that, they could do it harder and better than most of their contemporaries. And this song rocks.
