This song was written by Brian May from a dream he had. The dream had the story of Noah in it, and Brian saw people trying to reach out and touch people's hands trying to make meaningful connections with them. The song has a lesson that we should love one another, we should be one with each other. Great reaction.
The cover art is based on the band’s crest logo. Using the band members’ Zodiac signs. The fairies are Virgo (Freddie’s sign), two lions for Leos (Roger and John’s sign ), a crab for Cancer (Brian’s sign). Topping it all is the Phoenix from Greek mythology, an immortal bird that “dies” in flames but rises regenerated from its own ashes. The Queen crest logo was designed by Freddie himself, who had a degree (certificate) in Art and Graphic Design from Ealing College.
... ansd he would have become a famous painter or graphic Designer, too, had he chosen that Rroute. Just like Deaky would have become a famous engineer or inventor and Brian a scientist. They were all so incredibly gifted and driven.
This is Brian May's Masterpiece. The lyric to this song! "...the Earth will shake, in two will break, and death all around will be your Dowry..." The 'Prophet' appears to be Noah. A few years later, Brian penned Fat Bottom Girls...?!? Hard to fathom that the same group that made A Night at the Opera also made Hot Space...
If I may make a suggestion. React to the whole album. I promise you’ll enjoy the little 2-3 min. songs like 39, Seaside Rendezvous and a few other toe tappers. Try it, ya might like it. 🖖
Yes, they were THAT good. I like lots of different music, but just as I'd always go back to Italian food if forced to chose, I'll always take Queen over anything else. Especially early Queen.
Freddie designed their logo comprised of the members zodiac signs (Lions = Leo, Fairies = Virgo and Crab = Cancer. The bird is a Phoenix rising from the fire in re-birth.
thanks, Pop! this was widely considered Brian May's own "Bo Rap" -- the way it ended was b/c it went straight into "Love of My Life" - on those early albums there were no "breaks" -- look forward to more of your reactions!
Thankyou youngman! Queen really was something else. You made my day by reacting to some earlier Queen stuff. So different from their 80’s stuff, love it. I hope to see more Queen along the way. Much bless and keep up the good work.
All Queen albums up to and including the Game are superb..... full of killer tracks..... many of the heavier ones written by Brian May.... Listen to Queen 2 in it's entirety it's like a sound track to Lord of the Rings.....
Dr. Brian May’s masterpiece, if you will. He had a dream about the great flood so there’s Biblical nods to the story of Noah’s Ark. I LOVE THIS SONG! Freddie’s voice is “canon” meaning - initial melody is imitated at a specified time interval by one or more parts, either at the unison or at some other pitch. Brian would canon his guitar so Freddie tried it with his voice for this song!! Check it live - ua-cam.com/video/LkaSmBzB2w4/v-deo.html
Awesome reaction! Queen were very diverse they did anything from metal to 1920's jazz. They basically started out as a hard rock, progressive and metal band. I suggest you check out the The Great King Rat from their first album, but the live version, which better then the studio version. Great King Rat live at the Rainbow 1974 (it is audio only). Another masterpiece from Queen's first album is My Fairy King.
Thank you for another GREAT reaction, Pope!! That was Brian's "Bo-Rhap" masterpiece... too often overlooked... and quite technically innovative for the times. I know it blew me away!! Critically acclaimed A NIGHT AT THE OPERA was also followed up by the equally magnificent A DAY AT THE RACES... I don't think they even skipped a beat between them!! Also, to your liking would be another masterpiece of sorts, "Innuendo" off the album of the same name, another masterpiece in the QUEEN realm. Thanks again for keeping Freddie's and QUEENS' talents legendary... such a joy to see so many recognizing such great talent and sharing it with new generations of young musicians.
Bands don't do that kind of epic music anymore - and especially not that kind of lyrics! Btw.: The making-of the song is very interesting as they had no computers and effect-machines back then ... this is hand-made-crafted-music!!! ♥
0:49 that's literally the queen logo slightly modified, it's the album cover. The animals represent the band members' zodiac signs: the two lions r leo n they r for john deacon (the bassist) and roger taylor (the drummer), then the crab is cancer n it's for brian may (the guitarist) n then the two fairies are virgo for freddie mercury (the lead singer obv). Then there is the Q with a crown inside that represents the name of the band and a phoenix that's protecting all. It was designed by freddie mercury shortly before the release of Queen's debut album in 1973.

This is such an important piece of music from a technical point of view as well as lyrically. I love this song, thank you for reacting to it.

Wow beautiful 🔥
@@juttapopp1869Brian IS also a scientist, Freddie IS an artist and John IS a wizard on electronic...
And it's a really great logo, by the way.
Brilliant!

So many choices with rock n roll back then, and delightful surprises. 🤙

Yes THAT good and more 🥰
Yes...EARLY Queen...they never should've left that style
@@JH-yl9ys well, you can find jewels in all of their work, and Innuendo (Album and song) is certainly as good as it gets, don't you think?
@@juttapopp1869 Honestly, I would say no...in my opinion, after A Day at the Races/News of the World it was downhill from there

Storytelling at its finest, Prettiest instrument is the human voice, yeah! I Love the reactions, Happy Sunday QT..🥰🎶🎵🎶🎸🎶🎵🎶❤🎄
If you really want heavy. Queen11, & Sheer Heart Attack are must listen Albums.
Hey Pope! Hope your weekend is going well. QUEEN! Enough said.👑
On the live versions 75, 76, 1977, Freddy does self harmonies using Delay, some versions are better than others
The crest on the album is the Queen emblem. Freddie did art and graphic design, he designed this for Queen. Often seen on Roger's drum set!..
Yes please keep going with this album you won’t be disappointed x

You have to hear The March of the Black Queen, Innuendo and Millionaire Waltz :)
Thanks Pope! Thats one Queen song that very few have ever heard. A gem! So Sincere by Gentle Giant please. You'll love it.
There is so much great Gentle Giant stuff! In some ways, they are greater masters than Yes, but it takes some digging to realize their greatness.
Once again, like your Led Zeppelin reactions, you're reacting to the lesser known gems that other reactors don't do. Well done!

Thank you, Debra! I had no idea that they did this live! Then again, they pulled off "Bring Back Leroy Brown" live.
When you asked “why did they end off like that?” … it’s because it flows directly into the next song “Love of My Life”

Two lions & a Swan was Freddie design
It's great for you to experience early Queen, they just all brought their talents together so early on in their careers. White Queen next please!
