To be honest the extra candy ones are how a classic candy apple looks, to me those are perfect 😂 I’d be disappointed if I got the round one. Thanks for the recipe! I love the pink colour they look great
I've tried and failed tried and failed tried and failed again to make candy apples a few years back so I gave up. I stumbled upon your video after saying I'm going to give this one more try. Long story short my apples came out amazing for the first time. Your recipe is perfect. I will be making these again in a couple weeks for my cousins baby shower. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
Thank you for sharing! I tried this 6-4-1 recipe and it worked but took a really Long time to reach temp, also it crystalized after a few apples (due to my cold apples) just reheated and worked I also ADDED some Red Hots for that cinnamon flavor!
Hey! Why are your apples cold? Only put them in the refrigerator after you have dipped them if you want them cold. The next time don’t do that and you’ll have perfect candy apples with no crystallization and no reheating because you’ll have time to dip all of your candy apples. This candy apple mixture takes a little longer to cook for perfection and perfection takes time, but it will reach 300 degrees. I hope this helps you.💕
I loved the look of these apples. I’m wondering if you removed the wax on the apples and also where’d you get the sticks? They’re so elegant looking!! I’m used to the wooden pop cycle sticks.

I really need a one on one. I have given up. I purchased the same pot as you, I use a single burner on med, and bought a new thermometer. Mixture still burns and takes over an hour. I dont add color until the end. I cant for the life of me figure out what im doing wrong.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA can I ask you a question they say vinegar make your apple shine more is that a true statement because I have been using the recipe 3 2 1 or the 411 and for my coloring, I prefer chef master or Wilton
Great question. When you reheat are you adding water first? Make sure you add a little water first and put it on low to medium until it reaches 300 degrees again. I hope this helps you.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you so much! I thought if you added more water, it would damage the syrup. I don't know why I thought that ( because) the mixture has water in it. Thank you!!
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you very much!! I have another question. What is good number of candy apples to start with since h this is my first festival? Do you use dry ice to keep them cool along with making them with the hi sweet dry corn syrup?
You're so welcome. I don't use dry ice to keep them cool, but you're going to need to make sure you keep them cool. It's so much shade and trees here because I live in the mountains that I usually find a cool spot when I'm outside. I also have a mini refrigerator plugged up to put my candy apples in to keep cool. I hope this helps you. Those candy apples are going to sell so you make as many as you feel comfortable making. Since this is your first one go ahead and make 50-75. I do use dry corn syrup for outside events.💕
Hey how are you doing today! I’m a beginner candy apple maker and I have a client that wants neon candy apples for a birthday party where would I find those colors.
Hello Keisha. I'm doing pretty good today. Hobby Lobby sells neon colors. If you can't find the colors there you can go to Amazon and type in, "neon gel food color" and many will pop-up there. I hope this helps you.
I let my apples sit out on the kitchen counter 24-48 hours during the cleaning process before I dip. I know a lot of people like cold candy apples. They just put them in the refrigerator bagged after dipping them.
With the 6-4-1 candy apple recipe, a minimum of 12 and up to 24 small candy apples. With the 311 and 411 candy apple recipes in my experience not many medium apples.
The temperature or humidity in your house is too high. Your house needs to be cool especially during hot days like today. It’s a way to get those apples in the bag. Let me go find the video. My house is usually 65 degrees or cooler while dipping candy apples.
If you can't get your house cool or the humidity down, yes place them in the refrigerator. I hear this a lot from people in FL, AL, VA, and TX. This is due to the heat and/or humidity in those states.
Some people like to make lollipops with it or hard candy using silicone molds to shape it. I usually just fill my pot up with water and and let it boil out until it dissolves into liquid and pour it down the sink.
Now that I see this question 2 hours later, how did your candy apples come out? Did you let it cook to 300 degrees without stirring the candy apple mixture while it was cooking? After the candy mixture reaches 300 degrees, scrape the bottom of your candy apples on the side of the pot. Then place them either on parchment paper or a silicone mat. As soon as you place them down they will get hard automatically, like right away. But you must let your candy cook to 300 degrees. You must have patience while the candy is cooking because it can take anwhere from an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. I hope this helps you.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you for this! I made the mistake of stirring and I think I have the wrong type of thermometer because I think that actually had a lot to do with it. I tried to be cheap and get any kind of thermometer thinking they all work the same lol but I'm assuming I need one that made specifically for candy. I will try again. Thank you.
I'm gonna get you...lol. Yes, please have a candy thermometer. I knew you was over there doing something you didn't have no business doing....LOLLLLLLLLLL!💕😂

Hi there I have a question, so last night I made some candy apples and after about 20 mins a bagged them up. They were good and came out perfect but when I woke up I notice the candy started to break down from the top . What’s the cause of that?
Either you didn't clean your apples too good at the top. Or your house was too hot. If your house is not 65 degrees or below make sure you place them in the refrigerator overnight.
Hi, Z&R Family! Ohhhhh, I know this particular problem all too well. Two years ago, when I first started dipping candy apples this would happen to me all the time. Everyone would say, I was moving too slow. Even when I got faster at dipping apples, my candy would still get too thick before I finished. Look at the following video tutorial and this should help you the next time: ua-cam.com/video/7k7tuxnsT0M/v-deo.html
@@DIYQUEENDIVA yes I finally had a successful attempt at making candy grapes and apples but the mixture started to thin before I could finish dipping all of them
@@thenicholsfamily8483 the candy will thicken up very fast using the 311 and 411 candy apple recipes if you don't move fast. Definitely try this recipe the next time to get 8-24 apples covered and the candy doesn't get thick too fast on you. ua-cam.com/video/7k7tuxnsT0M/v-deo.html
I use 6-4-1 for 12-24 candy apples. 6 cups of sugar, 4 cups water, 1 cup light corn syrup and flavor. I know when my candy apple mixture reaches 300 degrees by using a candy thermometer. I watch the candy thermometer until it reaches 300 degrees. Let me know if I’ve answered your questions.

For sliced apples you must freeze the slices first. This is the best way to get candied sliced apples. Did you freeze your slices? Please do not freeze your whole apples, only your slices.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I froze for 2 hours. I'm beginning to think my problem was not getting my sugar hot enough. I was so scared to burn it. It never hardened once out of the pot.
If you don't have a candy thermometer you are setting yourself up for failure before you even start. I say this all the time because I made the same exact mistake as a beginner. You must have a candy thermometer.💕
Hi, LaShonda. This is a humidity issue. Your house is too warm. I know it's winter time but I always make sure my house is 65 degrees or cooler when I'm doing candy apples. Keeping my house cool always prevents my apples from becoming sticky.
😂😂😂 I have plenty of candy apple sticks in my Amazon bake shop. You know you can use popsicle sticks too but I don't recommend those boring thangs unless they are cute.😂😂😂
You need to make sure you have a candy thermometer and make sure your candy cooks until it reaches 300 degrees. If you are a beginner, having a candy thermometer is important...lol.
NO NO NO....! I don't know ANYONE who doesn't think the toffee at the bottom is the best bit, I would feel cheated if I got one without it! It's like roast pork without the crackling!!!
This will be a preference because what I like you may not like. The majority of the time I only use Lorann’s butter vanilla unless a customer ask for something different. To answer your question I like Lorann’s flavorings. However you can use what flavoring you like. Just don’t use too much because an excessive amount can make your candy apples thick too.💕
You're so welcome, but you can change flavors. The butter vanilla is just my standard, default flavor. Cherry is a good flavor. Just try different flavors as you continue to make them and then you'll figure out which one is your favorite.

I really need a one on one. I have given up. I purchased the same pot as you, I use a single burner on med, and bought a new thermometer. Mixture still burns and takes over an hour. I dont add color until the end. I cant for the life of me figure out what im doing wrong.
Send me a message on Instagram, so I can help you.💕
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad I could help.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA can I ask you a question they say vinegar make your apple shine more is that a true statement because I have been using the recipe 3 2 1 or the 411 and for my coloring, I prefer chef master or Wilton
I don't even use vinegar and my apples always shine. So I would say that statement is false...lol.💕
Hi! These apples are beautiful! What brand
of gel coloring did u use?
Hi, Lisa.
For the white, I always use Wilton's white icing color. For the pink I used Hobby Lobby's brand, Sunny Side Up Bakery.
What kind of phone stand do you use for your videos? Thank you for all your videos.
Hello Bali. It's just a tripod.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you hun. I really enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my videos.
Thanks
You’re so welcome.💕
Can't you put in the fridge so it will harden faster and not run as much?
In order not to have a big bottom you must scrape the bottom of your apples well. The refrigerator is just to store your candy apples.💕
Pretty cute! Question: when your sugar gets cool; how do you ( i guess,) reheat your syrup? I have to start over. Thanks in advance ☺
Thank you!!
@@curvygyrl no, it will not damage the syrup. That's pretty much the best way to reheat it. And you're so welcome.
The kid in me kept saying yummy that extra that's the good part
😂😂😂
Thank you so much for this video!
You are so welcome!
Do you use vanilla extract and the butter vanilla at the same time? Or one or the other? Thanks in advance!
I only use the butter vanilla.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you!
After probably cleaning how long do you let it sit before dipping? Thank you
Let them sit at least 24-48 hours. During that 24-48 hour wait period make sure you continue to wipe your apples down. I usually do 24 hours.
So pretty
Thank you so much.💕
What kind of food coloring did you say?
Gel food coloring. With candy apples you can use any brand, just as long as it’s gel food coloring.💕
I have a question. What is the best method to keep apples from melting at an outside festival in this heat?
Good question! This should help you here - ua-cam.com/video/QqNr5ZILwug/v-deo.html
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you very much. I am in Texas - 115 degree weather -everything melts out here!!
I wouldn't be able to live in TX with 115 degree weather. The only way I see your candy apples holding up outside is in a mini refrigerator.
Do you know what’s a good brand for the neon colors
I love all of Hobby Lobby's gel food colorings. So my first choice would be Hobby Lobby's neon colors.
How do u clean your apples
Here's a video on how I clean my apples with lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. ua-cam.com/video/L5YGfgi56Pg/v-deo.html
Do you anything extra to the apple (obviously besides washing and drying) before you dip them??
Just let them sit at least 24 hours on the kitchen counter after cleaning. During that wait period just wiping them down and that's all.
Are your apples cold when you dip them?
I let my apples sit out on the kitchen counter 24-48 hours during the cleaning process before I dip. I know a lot of people like cold candy apples. They just put them in the refrigerator bagged after dipping them.
How many medium sized apples can you make in one batch?
With the 6-4-1 candy apple recipe, a minimum of 12 and up to 24 small candy apples. With the 311 and 411 candy apple recipes in my experience not many medium apples.
Hey love, my apples are coming out sticky, to the point where I can’t place them in the plastic treat bag, what am I doing wrong?
The temperature or humidity in your house is too high. Your house needs to be cool especially during hot days like today. It’s a way to get those apples in the bag. Let me go find the video. My house is usually 65 degrees or cooler while dipping candy apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA can I place them in the fridge after? Will that help?
If you can't get your house cool or the humidity down, yes place them in the refrigerator. I hear this a lot from people in FL, AL, VA, and TX. This is due to the heat and/or humidity in those states.
What to do with leftover candy ??
Some people like to make lollipops with it or hard candy using silicone molds to shape it. I usually just fill my pot up with water and and let it boil out until it dissolves into liquid and pour it down the sink.
I followed the 6-4-1 and my mixture is still watery. Will it eventually thicken up?
I did the 6-4-1 method and my mixture would get a temp over 218. Anyone know why?
Because you didn’t have patience😂😂😂. Unfortunately candy apple mixture perfection can’t be rushed. It usually takes an hour to an hour an 15 minutes.💕
Thank you cause I was struggling big time 😂😂😂😂
I'm glad I was able to help and show you how to get your apples perfect.
Where did you get those sticks??!!!
Hello! I made these. Here's my tutorial on how to make them: How To Make BLING Candy Apple Sticks ua-cam.com/video/ZGVRT2y50sw/v-deo.html I also put all the supplies I used for the BLING Candy Apple Sticks in the description box down below for you. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Where do u get the sticks from
Margo it depends on how much time I have. I usually make them ua-cam.com/video/ZGVRT2y50sw/v-deo.html. If I'm too tired to make them, I order them from my Amazon bake shop www.amazon.com/shop/diyqueendiva. Or if I'm out and about shopping at Hobby Lobby I will also pick some up there as well. I hope this helps you.
When you do this method is the apple exposed at the bottom? Can you show how it looks at the bottom once it dries?
Hi, Jill. I'll make sure I show the bottom of the candy apples when I make the next candy apple tutorial so you can see how it looks.
Yes this method you can see the bottom of the apple
Hi there I have a question, so last night I made some candy apples and after about 20 mins a bagged them up. They were good and came out perfect but when I woke up I notice the candy started to break down from the top . What’s the cause of that?
The candy will eventually breakdown, but it shouldn't breakdown that fast. You need to keep them cool. Did you place them in the refrigerator?
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you so much, I saw that two of them were melting
Either you didn't clean your apples too good at the top. Or your house was too hot. If your house is not 65 degrees or below make sure you place them in the refrigerator overnight.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA oh okay now I understand, thank you for the pointers! I’ll make sure to do that next time
At least you got the hard part done and that's making the candy apples....lol. You'll do great!
Is it normal for your candy to start getting thick after a couple of dips? How long should it stay thin before you have to reheat?
How do you know..what's your method when it's 300 degrees?
I use 6-4-1 for 12-24 candy apples. 6 cups of sugar, 4 cups water, 1 cup light corn syrup and flavor. I know when my candy apple mixture reaches 300 degrees by using a candy thermometer. I watch the candy thermometer until it reaches 300 degrees. Let me know if I’ve answered your questions.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA ok thank you

You could hang them on a Christmas tree. They are so pretty🤗

I tried a similar recipe, but smaller batch, for slices and barely any stayed on the apples 😭 I may have to just try again with whole apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you for all the info ❤️

I want the apple with the foot on it😂 it’s opens up easily

I followed your method but when I try to put my apples in bags they stick to the plastic what I’m doing wrong
Hi, LaShonda. This is a humidity issue. Your house is too warm. I know it's winter time but I always make sure my house is 65 degrees or cooler when I'm doing candy apples. Keeping my house cool always prevents my apples from becoming sticky.
I don’t like perfect when it comes to candy apples I prefer the candy on the bottom aswell 😊😊

Why I always get bubbles on my candied apples???
Hello. You're not cleaning the wax off good enough. How are you cleaning your apples and are you doing the 24-48 hour wait period?
First lol love your work
Thank you!
Hi ☺️👋
Good afternoon! How are you?
xtra candy on the bottom
Ok…lol.💕
Don’t you have to boil to a certain temp?
You need to make sure you have a candy thermometer and make sure your candy cooks until it reaches 300 degrees. If you are a beginner, having a candy thermometer is important...lol.
Do you make your candy apples with flavor? If so do you recommend and specific brand?
Kimberly yes I use Butter Vanilla by LorAnn's all the time unless the customer request for a different flavor.
The sloppier the better for me
😂😂😂
NO NO NO....! I don't know ANYONE who doesn't think the toffee at the bottom is the best bit, I would feel cheated if I got one without it! It's like roast pork without the crackling!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
It ain’t a candle apple to me without the extra candy on the bottom. Lol
😂😂😂
Hello, what kind of flavoring is good for this recipe. Oil based? And what brand do you recommend. I wanna do cherry flavor candy apples.
This will be a preference because what I like you may not like. The majority of the time I only use Lorann’s butter vanilla unless a customer ask for something different. To answer your question I like Lorann’s flavorings. However you can use what flavoring you like. Just don’t use too much because an excessive amount can make your candy apples thick too.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I'll just stick to your exact recipe thanks 🩷
You're so welcome, but you can change flavors. The butter vanilla is just my standard, default flavor. Cherry is a good flavor. Just try different flavors as you continue to make them and then you'll figure out which one is your favorite.
Thank you for this ☺️
You’re welcome 😊
