Woww amazing!! So glad you guys decided to watch the memorial edition! It truly is really good, you will notice all the things it has in the last 6 or 5 chapters that Berserk 1997 didn't include, in between that, you will witness the second most badass character in Berserk after Guts, Skull Knight 🔥🔥 get prepared guys
I hope it's still enjoyable even though you already know the story. The little changes an actual animated fight scenes and battles should keep you guys enthralled. Trust, it's still an amazing watch. Looking forward to watching the rest with you guys. Take care.
Its the 2016 tv series that has really bad cgi and animation. The music and voice acting is good. There are some scenes with 2d animations like the opening and dialogue that is so great that you almost wish the whole series was like that. If you're a fan of berserk then I would say its worth watching if you want to know more about the story after the eclipse. It ignores some arcs from the manga, which is a shame. The only problem with the animation in these movies that you're watching are the frames of the animation. It would be better if it was more fluid.
Also about that thing you said at the end, i heard that supposedly this studio (4C studio) was going to animate the rest of the manga (that's why the OP shows some characters from the next arcs), but they never did that because, sadly, the movies didn't get enough sales like they expected for the budget they used to make them, so it wouldn't be economically sustainable for this studio to animate the next arcs :( what a pitty because, as you said, the animation looks just fantastic (except for just some CGI scenes that look kind of bad). That's why they animated the rest with another studio that was way cheaper (the 2016/17 anime), and as they had a very small budget, most of the animation was sh1tty CGI that looked horrible
@@KameHouseReactions absolutely! If Mappa could adapt it, it would be just perfect, or if not, if this studio (4C) reconsidered adapting all the rest i'm sure it would look amazing too! However the thing is that it's really difficult to properly adapt Berserk, since a lot manga panels are really complex and detailed, that's why they need a lot of budget, and of course some things must be made in CGI (to be able to animate all the manga details, mostly background stuff or some fight scenes), and to make the CGI parts look good, they need a very good director (like the memorial edition), so... that's the big problem with adapting Berserk
I wouldn’t mind some cgi in there tbh, I think Mappa or the studio that does bleach could make it happen but the demand has to be there I guess, maybe once the series is fully complete it’ll get picked up
@@KameHouseReactions yeah, some very well made CGI looks good, but with a big percent of the anime in 2D animation, and just a few CGI. And yes, hope some day our dream comes true
I'm honestly glad you guys are watching the memorial edition, the animation quality is definitely improved, although still CGI heavy. This one actually has a proper ending as well as scenes that the 1997 edition never included from the manga. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
Don't even touch the 2016, even if it does adapt after the eclipse, they still skip a lot of stuff and the animation is just bad however you look at it
Guts backstory is never explained too much in the anime. Which is a shame because it’s pretty massive. If you guys want to save it for a read of the manga I’ll hold it to myself. But if you want to know what went down just say the word.
It's not explained that much, but in the Memorial Edition there's a key element of it that is shown from the manga. Really not sure why they cut it in 99, or the original GA movies either, since they've touched the topic pretty subtly in other ways
I think you guys should try watching this in the English Dub this time around (especially since you guys saw it in Sub for ‘97). Berserk’s anime adaptations are one of the rare few cases where the dubs are actually just as if not better than sub. It’s not cheesecake acting like with most anime dubs. Like for me, the English voice actors are how I hear the characters when I read the manga, and I think most Berserk fans would agree. Try giving it a shot, I don’t think you guys will regret it.
One upgrade from the original. At least for a medieval enthusiast like me. All the armour is 100% realistic. I love to see me some good 15th century plate armour.
Nah 97 anime was way better. Memorial edition skipped guts learning to accept the band, bonfire of dreams (just movies), ext. it felt like they where to focused on action scenes rather then exploring the characters. Plus I love 90s anime asthetics
lol idc if you avoid it but there is some surface level homoeroticism between guts and griffith although one sided it may be. and alot of the interactions between them in that first fight, hes almost messianic esp when he holds guts by the face. to many it can come off sus but hes almost like jesus here. reminiscent of L cleaning Light's feet in death note.
Its good you watched the 1997 anime first. This memorial edition is all about the action. They skip a lot of the talking scenes and dumbed down the writing too. 2016 and 2017 is good. But its really ugly looking. Thats why everyone hates that series.
Frrr, like it's just so sad that a manga with such GODLY 1000/10 visuals has an adaptation that looks so bad, they shouldn't have made that anime if they had that small budegt, the manga is infinitely superior, even more if u read it while listening a Berserk OST mix 🔥
@@christian_kansas reading berserk w guts theme ambient music and angelic music for Griffith scenes is god tier, and broooo conviction arc when guts saves and reuinites with you know who, panel was insane then the anime was dog shit

Will also try that music to re-read the manga in the future And yes it was so epic dude, there are hundreds of really epic moments in the manga like that one, with panels that look like god tier paintings. @@Xobito1324 and well, about the music, nothing beats reading the fight scenes (or very epic and amazing scenes) with songs like my brother, hai yo, sun, forces, aria... also there are really good songs for suspense or creepy scenes, there's a mix on yt that i listened while reading the manga that has the perfect songs for each kind of scene
Ready to do this all over again! 👹🗡️

3:29 guts is about 21 by the time the eclipse happens. He was in the band of the hawk for 3-4 years, so he should be 17-18. So yeah, pretty young.
pretty sure hes 19 during the eclipse
Guts is 19 during the eclipse, and currently in the manga I'm pretty sure he's around 23-25 yrs old.
@@OnerousMoist guy has had it rough. The manga needs a happy ending.
best part about watching it again is you see all Griffiths sly weirdo shit before the eclipse
I’m ready to get traumatized again 🔥🔥

Definitely still enjoying the series! The animated battles and the eclipse is what we’re looking forward to the most! And he’ll yeah thanks brother! 💪

The cgi ain’t that tbh and yeah I figure some stuff would get cut since this is shorter than the 97 one
The original ‘97 voice actors did not return for the movies/Memorial Edition. These are the same actors used in the 2016 anime.
👍
For the english they are the same. It’s definitely worth watching in English

Fun Fact; Berserk Memorial Edition is based from The Movies that came out between 2012-2013.
