Ty mentioned that the outro sounded familiar and while I was editing I can't believe that I didn't catch it myself. It is definitely reminiscent of "Day Tripper" by the Beatles. Happy New Year! 🎉
I was about to tell you guys that. The outro begins with the guitar riff for The Beatles' "Day Tripper" on one guitar, then continues with the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" on the 2nd guitar, then continues with the main riff for "I Like To Rock" on the third guitar. 😊
They had enough guitarists to pull it off. Saw them a number of times in Toronto they had an incredibly full powerful sound and the drummer seemed to hit the drums with two by fours.
He Guys, I grew-up in Lakeview, Nova Scotia, Canada about 5km away From Waverley, where Miles Goodwyn grew-up, my older brother was in Canadian Army with Miles brother, Lost count on how many times i saw April Wine,LIVE in the 80s ! "oohwhatanight " is a rocker of a song!!😀👌👍✌
In 2018, my youngest son, at the time he was 11, begged me to take him to the fair in Saskatoon so he could see April Wine headline the Saturday night main stage. Admission to the show was included in the fair pass, and he had me at the front of the line to the show two hours before they went on. We were front row, right in front of Brian Greenway. The band’s photographer has a picture overlooking the crowd of 1000’s with me and my son enjoying every minute. I’m glad he talked me into going.
Glad to see you guys are getting into some April Wine! Another song from their "Harder Faster" album I would recommend is "Say Hello". It's written in 6/8 time, which gives it a really grooving swing to it. Also, regarding Ryan's comment about 4 guitars being too many, they actually have 3 guitars plus the bass. Yes, the bass is also guitar, but the better way to look at this is how they fill out the soundscape. From my perspective and experience listening to a whole lot of guitar-oriented bands, April Wine is one of the most talented bands I've ever heard in terms of making each guitar creatively express their own unique voice.
Did you notice at the end of the song the sampled Beatles Daytripper riff, then added The Stones Satisfaction riff, then I Like to Rock riff on top. An early example of sampling.
It’s nice to see Ty rejoin you. In my senior year of high school (so 1980’ish), the band I was in covered this song; absolutely loved it!! The guitar line at the end (that Ty thinks he’s heard before) is from The Beatles “Day Tripper”.
I love when you guys react to music I heard in my teens and twenties. I’m nearly 60, but I feel like I’m back to those days again. And I’m glad you guys like that music. IMHO, music was SO much better back then.
I’m so glad you guys did another review of April Wine . Awesome time nailed it. They were very successful and didn’t get the exposure that they should have.
This song Rocks Ryan! The ending was the Beatles Day Tripper, The Rolling Stones Got No Satisfaction in their own rendition. They were very creative and underrated Rock Stars!!! I agree they needed better Management to promote them... I am glad that you guys found them and give them great air play.
Happy New Year, guys! If you want to hear a different, easy going side of April Wine, then you should take a look at "Say Hello" and react to it. It's a hidden gem.
Yes they did a little tip of the hat to Day Tripper by the Beatles and also satisfaction by The Rolling Stones. These guys were my first concert when I was 10 years old. Ticket was $2.50 LOL
If I had $2.50 for every time I've seen somebody post AW was my first concert I'd be a millionaire. For me it was early 80s Halifax Metro Centre with Red Rider (Tom Cochrane) as the opener. Lunatic Fringe and White Hot were their big hits at the time and AW opened with their perennial curtain jerker Oowatanite.
Wait until Ty hears the southern bands like Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd with multiple guitars. 😉 The table hockey at the end always makes me smile. Happy new year all!
I pretty much have a smile on my face every time I watch y'all! Thank you for that. Kicking in the New Year with y'all is a great start. We love your channel ❤
I've always thought April Wine was quite under rated. They have a fantastic catalog and would love to see you react to their song "If You See Kay". One of the best double entendre song titles of all time!
Love it when people react to April Wine but my only pet peeve is only thier radio songs get reacted to - they are so talented with a huge music legacy with amazing ballads, heavy hitters etc etc - one of my favorites was 'Silver Dollar 'being Canadian it took much longer to get recognized - dig deeper....
The best April Wine songs all got played at the fair on that ride that goes backwards at high speed and forced your girl to squish into you, and you could tip the teenager running it to play another song and keep the ride going.
Have requested another Canadian gem for your reaction...COLIN JAMES,a gifted and respected blues rocker with over 20 albums & many awards. He toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan and is still going strong! Give him a try ... try his VOODOO THING 😊
Ryan, talking about the guitars and saying, "Enough is enough." Ryan, did you know that April Wine has a song called, "Enough is Enough"? It's also a good one. I had to laugh at the irony.
I enjoy your reactions! Reminds me of how my kids loved my rock music & still do. We had dance party moments during the day. My son would come home from college on holidays & his fav thing to do was start a song & ask who's this? When you don't watch video I hope you go back to some of these songs on your own time & watch the video or live performance, really gives you insight. 70's music was pure talent without all the fancy editing gizmos
Recorded at the former Le Studio in Morin-Height, about 45 minutes north of Montréal, Québec. Demolished ten years ago, sad. Salutations à tous les fans d’April Wine, de Montréal ✌🏻
@aimfuldrifter these kids are barely in their 20s maybe late 20. They've been raised on shit music, which is why they're not fond of bangers like ' I Like To Rock '. They have no life experience to draw from. It is what it is, kids.
The end where one guitar is playing Day Tripper by the Beatles, and the another is playing Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones while a third keeps the song riff going. That is awesome.
Happy New Year to everyone! Excellent video! May I suggest, for your next exploration of April Wine, the song "Before the Dawn" and its official music video. It is an outstanding song that shows their awesome talent.
Great band to see in the 70's when I was a teenage drummer still learning. 21st Century Schizoid Man, Sign Of The Gypsy Queen, Oowatanite, etc. Harder Faster is legend.
Y’all need to start finding live videos of your music requests. Try some of the Midnight Special show performances. Also, you should check out some Miley Cyrus… with Metallica, singing the Cranberries Zombie, singing with Billy Idol, her Plastic Hearts album and of course her Flowers video
A band that Professor of Rock talked about today is Sugarloaf. A 2hit wonder if you want to call them that - Green eyed Lady and Dont Call Us. Two great songs that you need to hear and review!
One of Neil Peart's books mentions going back decades later when the studio was trash. He found a drum kit and had it put back in good nick, turned out to be a very nice sounding kit
@@spooley I'm watching that video now. So grateful I saw them in Bloomington Mn on the 3rd of July 1981! It was crazy with fireworks whizzing by our heads. Moving Pictures tour.
Just a guess, but maybe the "journey to the stars...rock and roll guitars" line was meant to describe the transformational power playing rock music had on them. Even though this is a solid song, I still prefer the punchy, fun, propelling sound of "Roller". Maybe it's the personal nostalgia of that song--a little auld lang syne, so to speak, lol. And, btw, playing table-top hockey proved that they were good Canadian boys. 😆Well, keeping my fingers crossed for 2025, and wishing all the best to all of you in the New Year.
I see you guys never did the "Rolling Stones" song "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and if you like a sax solo that goes off the charts in a long jam session, that's a vibe you will love to take in
Ty mentioned that the outro sounded familiar and while I was editing I can't believe that I didn't catch it myself. It is definitely reminiscent of "Day Tripper" by the Beatles. Happy New Year! 🎉
You also hear “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones.

More like the 70s going threw the EARLY 80s period
Definitely Day Tripper. Happy New Year fellas.
Yep Day Tripper and Satisfaction layered over their own riff for the song. Pretty cool. A tribute to rock music.
They came from my home, Nova Scotia. At least, started here. We all love them here.
Cheers from New Glasgow
The end of this song they are playing day tripper and satisfaction at the same time
Yup! You got it!!
While fusing in their own song too! Decent!
They had enough guitarists to pull it off. Saw them a number of times in Toronto they had an incredibly full powerful sound and the drummer seemed to hit the drums with two by fours.
Jerry Mercer was a badass drummer
@@plrt6794 The drummer could have used telephone poles, he has muscles that are bigger than most whole musicians lol.

Same studio that Rush shot their Limelight video. 😮😮
Sometimes I forget how DAMN good these guys were.............but honestly...not very often !.Oh Canada !
I will never ever understand why this song and "Say Hello" were so much more of a commercial success than so many of their other hits.
Talented guys with incredible musicianship - grew up with this band. I was crushed when Miles passed away a while ago. Canada rocks!
Good to see TY. Thanks for the April Wine. Saw them in 1981. They put on a great show.
This is one of the ROCKIEST SONGES EVER FROM THE 70s 1979 released i waz 19
I did as well. Saw them in the Seattle Center Coliseum in 1980 and 1981. They did indeed put on a great show!!
Thanks for playing another AW classic. Live this song was an anthem that got the crowd cooking!!
They mix riffs from Day Tripper (Beatles) and Satisfaction (Rolling Stones).
Forgot about this song. Good old fashioned rock song.

My favorite song by them off this album from 1979 is Say Hello. The guitar riff is one of a kind and 10 people I know agree about that guitar riff
@@davidedwards3838 They haven't reacted to Say Hello
@jethro1963 the rest they have
Myles lived literally 3 mins from me. His passing was sad news for sure. Left behind tons of memories, and a real nice Mustang!
Grew up with this band on the radio, they were huge in Canada. My favourite is Say Hello.
Great Canadian Band!
April Wine has a song titled Enough is Enough!
Thanks!

"Get Ready for Love" - April Wine, from around this same era.
April Wine came out with Roller and I Like to Rock in the same year

...some like it HOT 🔥. Great first jam to hear in 2025👍
"Ladies Man" by them, at the same studio, is great.
"Journey to the stars, Rock and Roll guitars'" was a Star Wars reference. Harder, Faster was released only 2 years after SW: A New Hope.
