Laa and Chee! I like to Rock !!!! Love the ending. Part with “ satisfaction, and Day tripper and I like to rock all going at same time! That makes it hard! Beatles and the Stones and April Wine all together!!
For almost 20 years April Wine ruled the Canadian airwaves with dozens of hits and other great songs. La and Che, there is a treasure trove of classics from this band and I hope you get to explore them deeper.
One of the few, excellent Canadian bands, along with Rush, Anvil, Triumph, Goddo, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Pat Travers, Lee Aaron, Moxy and some such. Canadian outfits have always been looked down upon by USA record companies. Though April Wine was somewhat inconsistent (musicwise), they still made some scorching tunes and deserved better internationally. Cheers lads. Thanks for another very nice reaction.
April Wine are another of the Canadian bands that recorded and toured through the 70’s and early 80’s. A good high energy top 40 rocker group who had us bobbing our heads in the old days. Apparently, they’re still touring.
@@artharrison9586 Myles Goodwyn just recently passed, not long after, I believe, Steve Lang passed. Maybe 6 years or so. I believe Steve also had a background in engineering so he went back to that. I live in Arizona and I grew up loving them. Too young to attend any shows. I’m always amazed they weren’t bigger in US.
Love this Canadian Band! If you like this you’ll love “Fastway” another unappreciated band…I think they had record label issues but they totally kicked ass …you both would totally enjoy them
Grew up on Wine! A spring vintage comes out in April! 3 guitarists and a bassist! Many times each guitarist will do a solo piece in their songs! So lucky being Canadian, we got to listen to: April Wine, Triumph, Rush, Tragically Hip, Guess Who, BTO, Stampeders, Chilliwack, Prism among a few...... all because of CanCon! 30% of songs on the radio had to be Canadian Bands
GREAT reaction gents!! April Wine are pure, unadulterated ROCK - plain and simple!! Your ears certainly don't deceive you - they're playing the riffs from The Beatles - Day Tripper AND The Stones - Satisfaction! Wearing their influences on their sleeves. They do an amazing, complete cover of The Beatles' Tell Me Why! Future April Wine considerations: Weeping Widow (from their 3rd album - this will blow you away!!), Fast Train, Sign Of The Gypsy Queen, Roller...all of these are rockers!! Cheers from Canada, eh!!
Picked up the lyrics instantly like I heard it this morning, yet I hadn't heard this for decades. Thanks gents love me some wine but love swiggin' April Wine!
Today, a vastly underrated band. We loved them in the 80's, saw them live once. They were really terrific! And you gents get it. Just pure rock and roll.
It was really fun seeing April Wine do this live at the Texxas Jam back in 1980! They also did "Roller" and their version of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man"... 🤘
Their album, Nature of the Beast." Was their break through album here in the US. A couple of hits and many good songs. That's the Beatles riff. Day tripper.
April Wine had four super good songs that many people don't know about. They are: 1) Say Hello 2) Enough Is Enough 3) Love Has Remembered Me 4) This Could Be The Right One. * NOTE: A lot of people also like their cover version of the song "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen." You'll also find an excellent original version of this song which was written and sung by Lorence Hud.*

Saw them years ago, warmup band for someone. Crowd was polite, typically waiting for the warmup band to finish. But the crowd liked this song and went nuts with the Beatles/Stones riffs at the end. Wonderful ending to a song that was already good.
Oh man oh MAN!!!!!! I've of my favorite bands EVER! Now you GOTTA check out Silver Dollar. I have that as my ringtone. I feel they are so overlooked and underrated
This song closes-out with the band layering the melody lines from: The Beatles "Day Tripper" and The Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction", 2 of the BEST-known rock 'n' roll guitar/musical phrases in history (esp. at THAT TIME -when this song was written and released.). It, also, sort-of, plays on the idea that: in the '60s, there was a running "playground argument" of whether you were "A Beatles person" or "A Stones person" (as the bands were, often, painted as "opposites" of one-another [which couldn't have been farther from the truth, but!] among certain groups of fans (NOT the bands themselves!).). SO, April Wine quoting these 2 (ultra-popular, very well-known!) songs, which "everybody" (nearly every listener who had been listening to rock music, at all!, for longer than 3 days, by that point, would, almost absolutely, know and recognize!!) knew was, also, saying: "We're paying tribute to 2 of the greatest"/"the greatest of all time" and "Who are we a fan of??? We're fans of BOTH! Are you crazy???!" ...because, while there WAS some sort of "I'm cooler 'cause I like the..." whoever, among certain social circles or neighborhoods, etc. [That is to say: "Beatles fan vs. Stones fan" was an actual THING. Yes. Absolutely!-At one point!] I would, instead, argue that: a majority of rock fans were BOTH Beatles AND Stones fans, by the 1970s! April Wine were saying that THEY, sure, were! {I believe the, initial, sort-of, "assignation" and/or expectation was: "Tough guys" are more Stones fans, while "artsy guys" (or more "intellectual"🙄) are more Beatles fans. ...and "which camp do YOU fall into/assign yourself to?... ....And I am sure that in that [post-kennedy assassination, pre-Sgt. Pepper's... era., there was a serious note to that or feeling about that ....but it, also, relatively quickly lost its heft (except, maybe, among (aging ...although they wouldn't have considered themselves through any such lens at the time, either) Boomers.- I don't know, exactly.)} ...And April Wine were, also, saying: "Of COURSE you are!! [of BOTH] WE are, TOO! It's only NATURAL!" That is, really, the meaning and purpose (of quoting "Day Tripper" and "Satisfaction" in "I Like To Rock")! ...The intermingling/layering of the famous, instantly recognizable melody lines is, also: pretty genius and perfectly constructed! (Esp. as: "Day Tripper" can be considered, kind-of, an "ascending line" and "Satisfaction" functions as a, "countering," "descending line," against it! as well!) 🤘🤘 🔥
The Nature Of The Beast is their best (most complete and cohesive) album, overall. It features 3 "mega-hits" (among the rest of its excellence): The songs: "All Over Town"; The superb power-ballad: "Just Between You & Me" and the EXCESSIVELY GREAT cover of Canadian singer/song-writer Lorence Hud's hit from several years (almost a decade ) earlier: "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ALL of these are REQUIRED listening (and I think the entire Nature Of The Beast album is!) [If I am NOT mistaken, you 2 already HIT their early cover [from the era when the Henman brothers (and their cousin, Jimmy) who FORMED the band, were, still, in it!] of Hot Chocolate [the U.K.-based uptown funk band]'s "You Could've Been A Lady" (which is, also, SUPERB!🤘🤘) 🤘🤘]
April Wine's lineup has 3 guitarists (all capable of playing lead) plus bass and drums, Myles Goodwyn, lead vocals and one of the 3 guitarists would switch to keys for some songs.
Great reaction La/Che April Wine to me was a feel good band in the 80’s. Check your mail I sent you something it should be there by now. Keep up the fantastic work love what you two are doing Robert…
April Wine is kinda like Canada's Boston. Could have been a lady is a banger too. Love how they incorporate. Satisfaction and Day Tripper from the Stones and Beatles. Great reaction and Peace out guys 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
Growing up in Saginaw we got to hear a lot of April Wine and man I'm sure glad we did. I think you guys would be impressed with the song that follows this on the LP : "Say Hello." After all these years I'm still not exactly sure what the time signature is on it.
The two riffs where the Beatles - Day Tripper along with the Rolling Stones - Satisfaction.
@@dogtownczar thats it thanks. I dont know Beatles songs as well. But good enough to recognize it
Great call
A fantastic nod to the earlier 60's rock songs that inspired them and others of this slightly later 70's generation of musicians.

Another under appreciated band. This song is a banger!! Thanks for this choice guys!
Growing up in Detroit during the 1980s, the local radio stations played a lot of Canadian Rock bands in April Wine is one of the best❗️
The other tune is 'Day Tripper' by the Beatles. It's absolutely brilliant how they incorporated two iconic songs into the fade out.
With the added main riff to top it off. Gotta love the triple threat guitar bands.

I had the good fortune to see them live back in the day and they Rocked. One of the best and most underrated Canadian bands ever.
Some like it hard. I like it,you guys like it. Rock @ its finest.
Gosh I can’t tell you what memories this brings me back to. That was both the stones, satisfaction, and the Beatles day tripper.

One of their best from the Triple Guitar Threat, aka April Wine!
Day tripper by the Beatles also
