You, my friend, have created the MOST addictive videos ever. I'm the nationally known artist Eric Green. I'm supposed to be in my studio working, and all I'm doing is watching your videos! And I disdained Hot Wheels as a kid. A total scale Corgi Solido guy who now collects CMC 1/18 race cars. Fantastic production values. You really get it! Cheers!
I remember these pickups! My brother and I would borrow our little stepbrother's Hot Wheels stuff and play our own game. Somewhere we had come up with a kid's set of mini building blocks: square, rectangle, cylinder, arch, wedge, etc. The game was to set up a track from a desk to the floor; one player would set up the blocks in some fashion to block the track and the other would have his choice of three cars to break through! It was actually a lot of fun, and the Fleetside pickups were the heavy rams. They'd also block the track if you could stall them, so there was strategy involved. Bottom line is we beat hell out of all these red-line originals. No one would have dreamed of putting a boxful together in original packaging as an investment, even at 79¢ apiece on sale.
The back wheels independent suspension was such a cool thing.... I now remember when I use to play with em as a kid... That was one of the thing that I would watch and pay attention to when a press down on it or driving it riding through uneven surfaces... Awesome.
Awesome!!! why have I never thought of doing this?! I have a collection of roughly 400-500 mint condition hot wheels that I collected as a teenager, but I also have at least a hundred cars that I beat the hell out of as a little kid. It would be awesome to do something like this with those old beat up cars!
Thanks for sharing this step by step how to video, I recognize your usual accuracy and skills, really a great great job. And I admit I was missing your legendary mirror finish, I'm very happy to see you're back in the game :)
Idk why this is in my recommendations but that was pretty cool. I work at a body shop and working to restore my '64 Chevy Impala. I love this I still have my box full of Hot Wheels this wasn't any different. badass man
i didnt know anybody did this it is my first vid by you and i NEED to thank you for restoring peoples childhoods i remeber telling on my older brother becuase he took this blue mucsle car that i wanted becuase it went "faster" then the others. watching this really brings nemories back
absolutely amazing video you did there. fantastic job on the restoration process as well. I wish I would've had the patience you did when I was a kid trying my luck at it. Thanks for sharing.
really cool. i did a Hot Wheels 69 Chevy Stepside one time painted it charcoal grey and painted the bed a wood color and carefully traced the bed rails on the bed solver. Used Krylon and Testors model paint. it was fun. this is way more involved. you sound like Brian Posehn the comedian.
Great job. With your skills you really should cast your own windshield sets. Heated stretched pladtic is very easy to use and as long as you have the original, you can make a mold and mandrel. Still i like the job on this, really good!
Wow man, I had a shit-ton of those when I was a kid. (I was born in 65) I pretty much did the opposite of what you're doing here, I took a new car and fucked it up so it would look like it wrecked. I'm sure they're worth money now. Who knew? I sure had a lot of fun smashing them, burning them, bending and breaking them with pliers, etc.
You tried media blasting to clean up projects? I use soda blasting and very pleased with results. You can get compact desk top blasting cabinets that are cheap, take up little room and work very well. Well worth checking out.
great restoration job as well as neat camera job we don't always find in similar videos on the Internet! what is the extra nearly two minutes blank video in the end though?
Krylon makes a self-clear coating spectraflame spray paint called "Metal Cast" in several colors you can find it in the auto parts store. also you could use black cardstock for the bed cover
use some sandable gray rattle can primer and fill in the pitting. Once the primer is dry go back with 150 grit wet dry paper and sand off all the primer and what was applied over a pitted area will remain and fill in the pit. Sometimes you have to do this a time or two to fill in deep pits. Always light coats as they dry much faster and completely. Then, once the pitting is gone give it all a light coat and scuff it with 4x steel wool and paint. You will be amazed how much better it comes out when the pits arent there.
I have a banged up 60s Ferrari 250 GTO and a fresh one. the fresh one I found at a garage sale for25¢! the banged up one was given to me when I was younger
Have you considered using electrolysis to remove some of the oxidation? For people who restore antiques, this is the first step they go to, when restoring a rusted metal object.
It looks great, still showing it's age, but only a little. I never saw that style of HW axle before! That's way better than the modern style. Amazing that they would put a removable axle system inside a riveted die cast. I haven't done any restos yet, but from what I've seen, you spray paint directly onto the alloy. Is it ok with no primer? That axle system though. It's got me thinking now. I've seen videos where some older HW cars do really well in a drag race against new ones. Though they probably have a weight advantage. I reckon that if the wheel centers are in good condition and the outers fit perfectly, any one of these older cars could be made to run further, faster and straighter than the later straight axle type. But it will involve a lot of time getting each wheel into perfect alignment with the chassis and the other wheels.
I've been watching this channel for ages now, and I've got to say, the older "less professional" lighting setup does a much better job of showcasing how cool Spectraflame actually looks, and glare from the car actually enhances the appearance.
I have one of these which came with the ramp launched airplane which I bought new as a kid. The plane and ramp are long gone but it still makes a nice fleetside without. Needs new axles though.
i was born when hotwheels came out in 67 my aunt started giving me hotwheels at that age so i had alot of the first one that came out those was great memories of playing with them
Quick question: How does it feel knowing that at least half of your viewers don't know anything about Hot Wheels and only watch your videos because of how relaxing they are?
Love your work. I recently came across a Lamborghini. Doesn't look bad at all. If you're interested I'd like to send it to you so you can do with it what you will
I noticed you do not prime them, is this do to how thick primer can be and hide details?? Just curious as Ive done larger scale cars and model, and there always primed but would like to get into the smaller hot wheels as I have a bunch of very old ones.
Did anyone notice him say shiny spectra flame finish at around 12 seconds in? Not to pick on you bud... just heard it and chuckled... love watching your videos
I love watching restorations of any sort, this was a super clean rebuild. Nice
same here.
Have you watched Toy Polloi's videos?
Luis C. Terrazas , me too. Any kind of resto.

maybe there is a business opportunity for someone to show noobs how UA-cam works....
Did you pass your Maths and English test?
Me too. These videos are addictive.
@@zakirhaider Nope he is flipping burgers at his local Mc Drive now
This just shows how much you’ve improved. Great work.

Sometimes youtube suggestions just manages to take you to great places, like a channel that's all about hot wheels cars. Subscribed.
Fascinating! What a cool hobby.

It's a pity that there are no such collection machines in Russia.
Way cooler than i was expecting. awesome work!

Just subscribed. There is a degree of calm patience and skill about your work that I'm envious of :)
This was a great rebuild, but I would've liked it more if you had painted the engine part sticking out silver.
absolutely amazing video you did there. fantastic job on the restoration process as well. I wish I would've had the patience you did when I was a kid trying my luck at it. Thanks for sharing.
Cool video! Thanks for sharing!
I don't restore or collect model cars but here I am. Enjoyable to watch.
This was SO satisfying to watch, you've earned a subscriber!
really cool. i did a Hot Wheels 69 Chevy Stepside one time painted it charcoal grey and painted the bed a wood color and carefully traced the bed rails on the bed solver. Used Krylon and Testors model paint. it was fun. this is way more involved.
you sound like Brian Posehn the comedian.
This is the grooviest channel there is. Love these!
THIS MAN IS REALLY GOOD I HAVE TRIED THIS MANY TIMES BEFORE WITH THE REGULAR HW AND I ALWAYS CRACK THE POST WHILE DRILLING THE RIVETS OUT.
Oh man I wish I had my old hot wheel cars. Had everything. Track, cars, Turbo stations, everything. Guesse that's why thy are so collectable now!
Just found this restoration very fascinating to watch and relax.
I don't care about hot wheels in general, but these videos are so relaxing
best content on youtube. love your work & videos. the customs & restores are just incredible.
Really enjoying your new videos! Glad to have you back.

Very nice restoration work!!!
+Fil B Thanks!!

CrazyBear65 same
CrazyBear65
CrazyBear65 Bricks destroyed the ones my brothers didn't steal or destroy, and I know some of mine were rare even back then. Oh well, I was a kid.
CrazyBear65
😂
CrazyBear65 Don't feel bad. These old cars wouldn't be worth anything if most kids like you didn't destroy them! Haha.
You tried media blasting to clean up projects? I use soda blasting and very pleased with results. You can get compact desk top blasting cabinets that are cheap, take up little room and work very well. Well worth checking out.
Magnificent result on an example that for an extended portion of time- seemed to have languished in the out-of-doors or something.
im glade you went ahead to restore hotwheels was my favorite toy growing up
Very nice. Love that you kept the color
"So sit back, grab an adult beverage..." ima go get a JUICE BOX! 😆(I'm 13)
15*
I'm 16 lol
18 now, go get a beer!
it's so sweet the time you put into it.
Lol. What a long way you've come in 3 years. Still looks good.
great restoration job as well as neat camera job we don't always find in similar videos on the Internet!
what is the extra nearly two minutes blank video in the end though?
The blank 2 minutes at the end represents my stupidity in video editing....
baremetalHW were those axles the ones with "suspension"...
dadautube yup it was to say that I will wrecked car in 2 minute
That matte chalkboard spray paint makes a cool looking bedliner
very interesting content you have
Fantastic working man saludos desde México
Good video. Must admit I'm watching a lot of these restorations and find them interesting. Thanks Best regards from Adrian in Sheffield England.😆
Great job, I'd use a finer grit sandpaper before polishing to help eliminate any scratches or swirls in the final finish. But thats just me
Krylon makes a self-clear coating spectraflame spray paint called "Metal Cast" in several colors you can find it in the auto parts store. also you could use black cardstock for the bed cover
great work!
People actually restore these things..that's pretty cool

Wow ,it looks great. Awesome paint job ;-)
The stuff u do is outstanding. Keep it up
JB weld would make a good filler, its metallic in nature and can be machined and sanded to any profile.
very cool I just found your videos have you made one on just the glass restoration I'm curious about the chemical you are referring to
I have about 3 vids on windshield restoration... This one is probably the best...
ua-cam.com/video/q4cVhuJegSE/v-deo.html
these videos are so interesting to watch i swear i wish i could do this
Inspiration with restoration. Fabulous. The spectra flame paint is an on line acquisition ?
+Kount Five Yes... I get it from www.redlineshop.com/shop/spectra-flame-paint/
Kount Five I have that exact car
I have a banged up 60s Ferrari 250 GTO and a fresh one. the fresh one I found at a garage sale for25¢! the banged up one was given to me when I was younger
i love how he restore me childhood ;“)
I remember the Hot Wheels Red Line series. That is an El Camino with a front face clip of a Full size Chevy Cheyenne Fleetside pick-up
This one turned out really well.
Have you considered using electrolysis to remove some of the oxidation? For people who restore antiques, this is the first step they go to, when restoring a rusted metal object.
I have a big mk4 golf if you wanna restore that haha loved the video think that's Amazing and the car looks stunning
idk why it is so satisfying.
I would never guess that people restore hot wheels but wow
This is actually a hobby I may take up seems cheaper than building scale models
This video inspired me and also good job 👌
I had no idea this was possible. Great vids!

Those pit marks in the metal would make cool rust or primer spots.
I have one of these which came with the ramp launched airplane which I bought new as a kid. The plane and ramp are long gone but it still makes a nice fleetside without. Needs new axles though.
Congratulations for your work
I don't know how I found your channel, but you earned a sub :)
Great job! Why not paint the bed with a flat textured black to look like bed liner?
dope! I've always wanted to do this!!
Interesting hobby man! Keep it up. 😊
I would say that this car was thoroughly enjoyed when it was new.
i was born when hotwheels came out in 67 my aunt started giving me hotwheels at that age so i had alot of the first one that came out those was great memories of playing with them
I have a cover for it on ebay il give you the link if you want

Quick question: How does it feel knowing that at least half of your viewers don't know anything about Hot Wheels and only watch your videos because of how relaxing they are?
when you're so cool that you are restoring HotWheels. Dang!
Nice. Does no one produce replacement windows? I know people do for older uk brands like spot-on and dinky
Wow. Very nice colour. Cool looking :-)
that Is really cool how do you get the car apart
I'm inspired to do this now! Lol
Dezzydaze edf
let's do it together
MrAtablood
Mr.Brownstone What
MrAtablood my bad I accidentally tapped your name
Love your work. I recently came across a Lamborghini. Doesn't look bad at all. If you're interested I'd like to send it to you so you can do with it what you will
Why not call the Chip Foose to help ??😉😉
please mtv, pimp my hotwheel!
Chip Foose only pimps his OWN wheels, there are no redlines or 5-spoke offerings in his series.
I noticed you do not prime them, is this do to how thick primer can be and hide details?? Just curious as Ive done larger scale cars and model, and there always primed but would like to get into the smaller hot wheels as I have a bunch of very old ones.
" grab an adult beverage and watch me restore a childs toy " ok jokes aside, its pretty neat that people restore these things.
Did anyone notice him say shiny spectra flame finish at around 12 seconds in? Not to pick on you bud... just heard it and chuckled... love watching your videos
