    I don't make advertisement for Hot Wheels, other diecast brands or for tool brands, which you may see in this video. I'm not sponsored by any of these brands.

    The amount of patience it takes to do one set of those doors is amazing, but to do three set? That’s truly astounding. Just the sawing between the windshield pillar and the door is enough to make most of I give up I would bet. Thank you for sharing!

    Should have used a jewler's saw with a spiral toothed blade as it cuts in any direction and makes the tight corners much easier to cut without having to enlarge the radius. A jeweler's saw also allows for the use of much narrower blades and will give you a narrower gap and better look with a tighter fit and smaller gaps. You can also use a soldering iron to attatch the wires and fill in the holes and slots then sand or file down the solder for a smooth finnish

    Exceptional work to professional-level standards. Thanks for sharing this because I have not even considered attempting such a feat. The fact that you use hand tools to achieve these results makes it all that more appealling because that is my preferred method. Thanks for sharing this video and all the specific details / tools needed to execute the project. That it is a Gullwing door rather than a front-hinged door makes the project all that more intriguing. Great job!!!

    i grew up on majorette, the doors and hoods usually already opened, superior suspension, but gullwings would have been a big ask, and usually the trunks weren't openable. if anyone can find them, they'd be great to add the rest of the features to.

    Huge improvements on the basic model, similar opening features as the 1/36 sized 1980s Corgi model too.
    I say this to a lot of people's custom videos by suggesting an additional feature - if you want to add a little weight to make your cars have that "car culture" feel, where you cant swap a plastic base for metal, add something called "liquid gravity" (say approximately 25g).

    Hi,
    Just watched your video for the first time and I am very impressed with your modelling skills. I need to drill very small holes, i.e. # 70 drill bit - 0.028 in. diameter, in diecast cars, i.e. for whip antennas, and the metal is very hard to drill. Using a pin vise drill is extremely time consuming and I frequently break the bit. Would you recommend using a Dremel drill? May I should drill a larger hole, then fill it in with ABS plastic, then drill it to the size I need? Your thoughts and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  Місяць тому

      Hello, thats an interesting question, I've run into this problem as well. I installed an antenna on my MX5 Miata, there I just drilled a 0.8mm hole with an electric hand driller and the antenna itself (0,5mm or so) was just glued with instant glue at first. The gap was then filled with 2k glue and the antenna and the now filled hole was painted with black paint.
      Depending on what you want to do exactly you may have to improvise of course.
      Keep in mind that a high quality hss drill bit is needed, I made the mistake and bought some cheap ones in a huge set, they are maybe good as an toothpick replacement, but not for drilling. Hope this helps.

    It would be easier if you had a one million dollar laser cutter- but if I did that with a small hacksaw the hot wheel will look like it went through a meat grinder. you have awesome skills to do that, most of us can't even draw a straight line even with the help of a ruler.😮

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  6 місяців тому

      Practice, patience and trust into the proccess gets you anywhere. After you did it once or twice, you get used to it. Panel lines will guide you quite well. I think learning the skill is much easier than to buy and use a 1 million $ laser machine ;D

      You barely need any tools. When I first started with this hobby I had much less tools than now. It also really depends on what you want to do. But it never hurts to have some basic equipment like: pliers, a cutter, some paint with small sized brushes, PLA sheets, a cutting mat, Hand and/or Electric Driller is quite essential (if you dont have an Electric Driller -> borrow one) and then you should be good to go. Be creative, you can use so many materials and do whatever you can imagine to customize. Happy customizing! :)

    7:10 this gave me an idea. What about putting it around the "housing" to act as a "gasket" do it fills the panel gap and looks black instead of you being able to see through?

    • @themodelcarproject
      @themodelcarproject  11 місяців тому

      I only understand this half through (what do you mean by "housing"?), but usually you almost cant see through if the car is put together, because usually no light falls into the inside of the car. Another way could be to minimize the thickness of the saw to reduce gaps.
