I absolutely love riding in the wet. Must be the Scottish blood in me… my wife thinks I’m crazy for riding in the rain (she’s Italian, they’re allergic to wet weather and never stop complaining about it.) we do live in Tuscany so I don’t get to ride much in the rain until winter and really look forward to it.
I love when it's slippery, it forces you to focus, find a line and stick with it. The only negative thing is that the bike i totally full with mud after a ride
It was what you said about the hips either being inline or to the outside of the corner. My cornering has been iffy for years and the last couple of outings ive focused a bit on moving the hips. Think thats a few % improvement which is massive for me 9 years mtbing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ben reading The Daily Stoic makes a lot sense. After all, a Stoic might say that you can’t control the world around you, only your reaction to it. Ride in the wet!
I have no need to cork my frustration and rage at the misuse of the word "drivel" because I have none left to expend. I had to deal with two cranky teenagers this morning that just...wouldn't...fucking...go...to...school! ARGH!!!!
crash #1 - he just didn't lean, and turned the wheel in the wrong place and too abrubtly? #2 crash wheel was still in wrong direction for the root that it slid across? or am i oversimplifying things?
You left out the wet root surprise. I suppose that's not likely to be filmed, unless somewhere there were a mtb instructor prone to exercising poor judgment and willing to sacrifice his body for a good educational opportunity. Of course, that hypothetical fellow probably injured himself and can't ride anymore.
Hands down! This is by far the best series on pb! Ben, keep going! ^^
💯
love riding in the wet, makes everything so much more fun and just makes you a better rider for when it’s dry
1 tip be Scottish
Aye.
Ben for king!
By far the best series anywhere!

That scandy-flick was nasty!!!
You UK guys are madmen. At least your trails and handle moisture. Here in Colorado it's either bone dry or unrideable, trail destroying sludge.
Same for here in Texas... Not to mention limestone is slick as snot when wet
@@JoeIsCrazyWillman Yep, same on Mendip, South West England. Like riding bars of soap.

I love a good evidence based video that explains the science / mechanics. More of this!
Having aback wheel/tyre that slips more easily then the front seems to help! As I’m generally going a bit slower, I knock some more air out

The worst thing in riding in wet is the cost of waterproof clothing
No brakes no mistakes😬
Last time I tried to not slow down in the wet I crashed kinda bad... that shit slippery on natural trails
Actually i seem to find pretty good grip in the mud. Not the clay mud but the sand haha. The tire grips deeper in the soil

Slippery as a FISH 🐟 🐠
14:00 actually you seperate a lot at skateparks while riding quarters etc. I feel its very similar to what you describe

Is that an xt casette with transmision?
maybe dribbling could also mean you're being bounced around on the bike, like a ball thats being dribbled?
Came for bike tips, stayed for the whale facts
9:21 that was sick
*Slowly turns to camera*
“Wanna know my secret?… I always dribble…”
*Hulk smashes a tree with face*

I don't slow down riding in the wet. I don't even start it.
Not much riding here then for 9 months 😅 Mostly it is better than you think
How to not suck on wet roots / rocks
Woop woop
Hammerhead
14:29 nice, I flinched a bit listening in headphones
bro wtf is this intro
I wish I can block pinkbike channel like they blocked me.
Ben Cathro get your own channel. I like you but not pinkbike
could u do like an opposite one of this vid, cus im alright in the wet and mud, but when its dry and loose im not quite as good
Do something else when the trails are sloppy. Don't be selfish.
