Primal. Moving. Incredible. My God what a band. The nineties soundtrack. My wife and I filled our house with this incredible music. She's passed now but when I hear this we're sharing a beer again.
❤️
That’s a great memory to have the of your wife X 💙
I’m having a drink now for you and her mate - she’ll be listening to Columbia don’t you worry sssoooonnnssshhhheeeeiiinnnee
❤
Totally legendary band
The most criminally underrated song in history
Not underrated by who
I think Acquiesce is more underrated slightly. They are both B sides astonishingly.
@@heelpayne420 can hardly anyone can say or spell it perhaps? Let alone know the meaning. 🙂🇬🇧👍
@@Surv1ve_Thrive i think it means reluctance or something along those lines
@@heelpayne420 accept something reluctantly but without protest.🇬🇧👍
Or its about aqua or something, maybe an aftershave. 🤪
Liam 24 years old what an absolute dream life to have lived, his voice here is phenomenal
he was actually 23 here
Absolutely incredible, what a life to experience 🎉
23 rkid
His voice is still badass, the last time I saw them was in 2007, he sounded good there to a certain extent. I'm going to see Oasis in July and I hope they don't let us all down. Badass band. 15 years since they split and 30 years since definitely maybe? They knew exactly what they were doing.. publicity.. I won't put them down for it as a lot do it, if it's a lie? No no you can't pull the guitar over my eyes
@xolveynorz8255😂
"I cant tell you the way i feel because the way i feel is oh so new to me"
Is the best Oasis lyric if you ask me.
It's a drugs lyrics hes singing music 🎶 about drugs
@@matthewadams1874 nah, not everythings about drugs
@@TheIkaraCultthis is
liam wrote it ❤
@@TheIkaraCultyou’re right, this one is about fruit of course. or about a trip to Paris maybe
This band was on the dole 3 years before this gig, just let that sink in...
What is a dole?
Actually Bonehead was a plasterer, Noel was a roadie for the Inspiral Carptets, Alan White was a session drummer.....
@@flapstones Noel has previously said that they all went on the dole and ditched their jobs to concentrate on the band but then again, I do take what he says with a pinch of salt.
@@mikeysonlyvanspage you can be a roadie and be on the dole
@@davidharrow9025 shit
Columbia is such an epic track. Even better live
this is peculiar....we don't want to fool ya
They’re back.
Neva been away 😂
@@matthewadams1874 very true. Very true.
Conning bastards tbf 😂😂
28 years later, and it's Saturday 10th August again.
this august was amazing
Still just as good a song/performance
Not a mobile phone in sight , those were the days , bring back the 90s !!!!
All the kids with their tape recorders 🤣… underground record shops… unofficial boots… it was a special time to attend shows, collect music, and perform.
Mobiles were around, but they were not smart phones
I was there in 96. And at Earls Court in 95, queued up for 4 hours, sprinted to the front and got right under Liam. Didn't let go off the metal rail for the whole gig. Magical times.
Hah! To hell with the 90's! Bring back the 60's!
that combo with his brothers high pitched back up vocals ❤
Thats oasis 🎉😂
So So iconic & just simply Amazing. 👍✌️👍
That intro is spine tingling and Guigsy's bass kicking in takes that intro to a completely new level of extraordinary
@@BloodSweatAndMeth Same...especially as it was the first song of the show, it most certainly wouldn't have sounded out of place...
@@lavielemondyea it always bugs me that Liam starts singing immediately for some reason
@@tronsnow4763 Yeah, it's more than likely related to his ADHD-esque nature, IMO...the guy simply hates standing/sitting around, doing nothing...this was particularly evident when he appeared on Graham Norton back in 2017, to promote "For What It's Worth": ua-cam.com/video/RbU-8s98SJE/v-deo.html
Best live version of Columbia
There’s a rough upload of a live version they did in Vancouver it’s fuckin incredible
I hope so.
what a time to be alive..
Said this to a mate earlier today (been rattling oasis again recently) - will never be a better music period than mid to late 90s in the UK, nothing will ever touch it.
it was better 20 years ago my friend😎
Dude when Bonehead and Guigs came in during the intro, it elevated that shit so highly. They were amazing for the early days sound
I thought the same thing. Iwas never a huge Columbia fan but fooking hell man. This liver version completely changed my.mind.
Noel received GOAT status for the guitar solos on this song.
Yeah he barely did anything. You’re not a guitarist obviously
If you could have a headline act of all the greatest musicians that ever lived this would be the opening song what an absolute banger
Christ, what a band. Those shout outs by Noel from 5:25 onward are transcendent. This is what epic rock and roll looks and sounds like.
Yes, that was the time when you could still see the artists with your own eyes and not through a smartphone.
For me this is the greatest song Oasis ever put out, I saw Liam Sunday in Manchester and Columbia still sounds fucking great 30 years later
What an opening to the Knebworth shows. I never really appreciated this song until I saw this performance. Now its on repeat!
That happened to me too, even in the theater, I didn't feel excited watching this song, but that changed soon after
L
Damn 1996 must have been a good year to be in the UK. Euro 96, Oasis, Trainspotting and a new government on the horizon. Amazing to be a young person growing up in England at the time!
Almost like you copied it from the film
@@Letswrestlee what film? I haven’t even seen this yet.
One of the best years of my life, loved it and was lucky enough to be at Knebworth for this. Looking forward to going back on 4th June
Yeah Tony Bliar happy days !
Hell yeah ! Apart from Bliar 👍😂🇬🇧🎸
Rock has never died 🙌🤟🤟🤟🖤 (27/08/2024)
Rock music is like a phoenix
Comon comon comon ahhhhhhhhhhhhh when noels giving it ye ye ye at end is biblical.trying to out sing each other, love this track.the riffs for solo is spine tingling.legends
This is the absolute best Oasis track ever made. I’ve been a fan from the start. I have this on white label vinyl. Massive. Love it. Listen to the lyrics.
Love how Liam can’t and doesn’t control his actions on stage! Just stands there as if to say “LETS BE HAVING YOU THEN!!!!!”
I was there ! Still have the ticket stub. Fantastically Biblical day, I will always cherish the memories. A band at their zenith, awesome tunes.
It’s just crazy how time flies . I’m 19 right now and I would do anything to go back in time to be there .
I was mesell but lost my ticket
I went to Sunday gig
I was in middle the sound got lost
Best gig I saw was Bournemouth Bic in 94
Thats awesome man, thats really awesome.
@@siyargoksal mate, I've just turned 50 ! 24 at the time.
Some songs were wrote for an album and some songs were wrote to be performed live.
Columbia is so powerful that sun had to set after they start playing the song.
Interesting.
No phones. No flags. And yet still not dated. Please let me return to the 90’s.
Gotta be be best intro song to any gig ever
I can't put into words how good this is...they are so tight and they rehearsed untill it was second nature...this is brilliant.
This is one of those songs that, for me at least, didn't particularly stand out on the record...but then I saw them do it live. It took on a life of its own in a live environment, it suddenly became transcendent...it became an "experience ". I was young, on ecstasy and the crowd was just vibrating with energy. I've seen many, many bands live and hearing them do this live the one and only time I saw them easily ranks top 5 concert experiences of my life. It's a frozen memory in time for me. And oddly, listening to it on their debut still doesn't stand out...it's a harmless song on a great album. But it takes on a whole other energy live...for me at least.
I agree.live its exeptional.prefer the white label demo than the def maybe version.
Happy days💪🏻 E
mad fer it !!!
You’re absolutely right the record of this doesn’t stand out at all but this live is something magical entirely
Joking 1 ov the best tunes on the album 👌
Standing in the middle of history……how epic
Wow ! I was there …. 27 at the time … great line up of bands topped off by Oasis on the evening and they were great
My mum was there that night, funnily enough I was born 9 months after 🤣🤣
Lived in Codicote about a mile from Knebworth. Remember walking back home after this gig thinking this was probably as about as good as life got. I was right. Sometimes 'nostalgia' is a useful reminder that life doesn't always get better and that it's important to be able to identify those moments when they're occurring and enjoy them for what they are. Not just this gig, but the whole 90's vibe, friends, music and life in general. And most importantly, for me personally, my wife. Boy did I fuck up there.......
The best line up of oasis
me and my mates went on our first holiday when I was 16, newcastle v man u, knebworth on the radio, great GREAT times, Columbia still gets me this day at 43 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻yeah yeah yeah!
A band 100% at the top of ther game
Happy reunion guys cant w8 to see you's you's are the greatest band ever imo
If you hear, bonehead comes in way too early at the start and Noel has to improvise to keep the intro going!
I first heard oasis when I was 5. Now imma play their songs to my 5 year old nephew
omg how much i adore this song and particularly this riff
av ' it
I love columbia, it's a brilliant song.
Pure fcn.orgasm
Wow, the quality is amazing. Like it was filmed yesterday
Maybe one of my favorites definitely, ❤❤❤❤❤❤
am I confusing you?
An epic moment in time….an not a single smartphone to be seen
What a day I just wish I knew back then how lucky we were, what a time to be 16, best years of my life and all because of these fellas
This is also probably the most I’ve seen Noel ever move on stage (aside from the time he played w the Who)
They were on top of the world man. I have 0 doubts if they did a reunion they’d refill Knebworth for weeks, even today.
😉
@@AdolfoMallenco wow haha
They were there while I was getting high. What hearts and ears are made for. A moment in time x
Liam: Oh people so many peopleeeah!
Noel: Sadlifes!
2:24: note of the nineties. The essence of Oasis.
“KNEBWORTH, MAD FER IT YEAH?!”
They’re back
Loved Columbia from the day I bought Definitely Maybe in Chester HMV 'almost' 30 years ago now, Jeez!
Such a great rock n roll song that just gets you absolutely buzzing. Amazing Live. 👍
Best upload of Knebworth I’ve seen so far. Brilliant mate
What a performance ! it exceeds the album version by far
Noel’s “ye ye yeeeehhs!!!! “ are from the heart man
I was in that crowd...it was good..very good!
I was there on the Saturday ' I was 23yrs - absolutely amazing ,, prodigy 👏👍
[Oasis - Columbia]
There we were now here we are
그곳에 있었지만, 지금은 이곳에 있어
All this confusion nothing's the same to me
이 모든 혼란들은 아무래도 상관 없어
So I can't tell you the way I feel
난 내 감정을 네게 표현할 길이 없어
Because the way I feel is oh so ! new to me
이 느낌은 나에게 정말로 새로운 것이거든
What I heard is not what I hear
내가 뭘 들었든지, 난 아무것도 듣지 못한거야
I can see the signs but they're not very clear
어떤 징조를 보았지만 너무나 불확실해
This is confusion, am I confusing you ?
이것은 혼란, 내가 널 혼란스럽게 하고있나?
This is peculiar we don´t want to feel you
이런 기괴한 감정을 네가 느끼지 않길 바래
Yeah yeah yeah
Since they were made, they've been my favourite band of all time, well my era anyway
Biggest band in the word in this era. I can remember watching this in high school.
Great performance across the pond boys!
One of their greatest concerts ever opening with their greatest song ever !!
I was three years old when this gig went down, would of loved to see them in there prime,
How Liam stretches his vocals is just biblical
Fooking amazing, this brings back so many memories! Shivers down the spine. Many thanks for uploading and hopefully there will be more to come.
Amazing framing here in the outro. A disgruntled Liam, frustrated with his own performance, looks on as his brother Noel sings the closing lyrics with passion and then nails the outro guitar riff. Summed up how chaotic Oasis were back in the day. Glad to be seeing them at Wembley in 2025.
I never paid much attention to this historic entrance, but since it was probably the biggest performance of their lives (Knebworth, first night), they seemed a bit nervous. Usually, Noel has something to say before the concert, he remained silent, but when Liam shouts, ‘Knebworth, mad fer it, yeah?’ it’s almost like a war cry, encouraging themselves to embrace the 125,000 souls in the crowd. Then he even plays his tambourine while looking at his brother. If my theory seems right, that small moment says a lot about the importance of Liam in the band and also why is considered one of the greatest frontmen in rock history.
That was the night we went & it was like an entirely different solar system - it just felt different to anything before & id love to recapture that moment. What an iconic weekend it was!! 🫶🫶👏👏👏🙏💚💚💚💚
I was two years off from even born when this happened and it still feels like it happened yesterday
I was there!!!!!! Sensational! Life changing xxxx
I was there. 15 years old. Man, it was loud.
Waiting for the reunion tour announcement, LFG!!!!
And not a single phone or camera to be seen. Just people living in the moment
Brillant song one of their Best x
Was at loch lomond the week before.what an experience.best band live and best band ever.f@?king love them.columbia here is outstanding.lgs vocals and ngs guitar rift gives me shivers and goosebumps down spine.legends.🇬🇧🙏🏻💙
me too mate i was at loch lomond, epic support and a mental great day👌🏼
I hope someday the full lochmond video gig come to us
Come on guys! 💙💙
また見てしまったわねぇ。
There was a live version of this that was an indoor concert. I used to listen to it quite often. And now I can't find it. Noel was wearing a white tee, I believe. The riff was perfect in that one and I kind of like that version. I can't find that version ANYWHERE or on UA-cam anymore.
Best documentary I’ve ever seen! Mesmerizing!
This song could just go on for another 5 minutes. Such a good sound.
Celestial 😭💚🔥
La mejor banda de todos los tiempos. Maravillosa. ❤❤❤❤
The greatest band in the world
I was there that day...The Prodigy stole the show!!!
Amen to that..
RIP Keith Flint
The live version was incredible❤❤
Liam’s voice is on another fucking level fuckin hell
Pure rock ‘n roll!
First powerchord of Columbia and Noel fucks up a little with his guitar lines, but no one gives a fuck. They were dead real. The band, the crowd, everything really
Miss the good old 90s
I was there my 18th birthday 10th August special special memories
No words. Oh yeah one-EPIC
One of there best songs ..never see a band like them again roll on Dublin be some day out can't wait croke park. There will be some pints drank that day Guinness 😎💚🇮🇪🎤🥁🎸🎸🎸
You don't understand the greatness until you get it
Miss the 90s!!!
Don’t we all !!!!
Absolutely brutal. The greatest band of history!!! 🎉🎉
The Golden Years of Oasis
the relatively abrupt ending robs the song of a lot of its raw power, but time constraints, I get it. still a great recording…🤘
