- Oasis performing "Slide Away" from their debut album.
1995 was the 25th anniversary of the first Glastonbury. The event sold out in four weeks and was again televised by Channel 4. A dance tent was introduced that was graced by the likes of Massive Attack, System 7 and Eat Static. Other acts to perform at the festival included Oasis, Pulp (who replaced Stone Roses), PJ Harvey and the Offspring. An immense £400,000 was donated to Greenpeace, Oxfam and other charities and good causes.

Saw them in Sheffield at the Leadmill before the first album. I had a five track demo and told my flat mates they were gonna be huge. They came on and it’s the loudest gig I’ve ever been to - played like they were playing to 10,000. Glorious.
Liam's voice is at its PEAK here. No rasp! The whiskey and cigarettes haven't take over yet!

amazing what simple drumming with an amazing feel will do for a song. It is the same for Steven Adler of GnR versus all those who followed him. They were all technically better and all ruined the songs.
You're right man. The drumming sounds so much livelier in this version. It's so subtle but makes the song pop.

@@ellohihi hey, thank you for the reply. I saw that this morning. It was great seeing Alan White. As far as I'm concerned he's THE drummer for Oasis. They had some solid drummers after he left but the drummer became an interchangeable role for the band. Alan provided stability, the foundation and beat that kept their classic songs moving. I'd love to see the band get back together but even if they don't, I'll still be happy. That's one of the few bands that I can call MY band. Being there from the beginning to the end...people will never know what the Oasis era was like.

@@neilriddell2171 yes he is. Listen to the difference between tony playing it and Alan playing. He's not buddy rich by any means but he adds grace notes and it takes away from the drive of the beat

Oasis - audience was so pumped. Every girl wanted to sleep with Liam and every guy wanted to be Liam.
The version here is so youthful and exuberant. He played a little hacky sack at the start of the video. HIs Glasto '19 version is so much more mature and meaningful.
