Hi rw3dog -- i recently acquired a Gravely 5660, which came with a snow cannon. If at all possible, could you do a quick run through of the attachment and basic operations of one? I would really appreciate it, as I have the other videos which you have produced.

Dave Landey have you checked out the operators manual on www.gravelymanuals.com ?

Good to see a snow cannon in action. Looks like you could use a cab. I posted mine on MTF under What did you do...PaulL

I think the carburetor needs to be cleaned or rebuilt. The gas from the summer is probably bad and clogging it up too

I have a gravely just like yours; I disassembled the drive/clutch mechanism thinking it might be broken. All is intact, but did notice that the clutch ring has only a 1mm thick by ~1/2 inch wide friction strip around the circumferance, that is smooth to the touch. Is this what its supposed to be, or should it be thicker? What fluid type should be used in the clutch mechanism?

Regular engine oil 10W30 for the clutch drive mechanism.

Super Argo hi if the clutch is down to bare metal that could be your issue for sure. Also the transmission used sae30 oil. Did you try to tighten the clutch using the jam nuts on the shifting rods ?

@@rw3dog Hi, thanks for clarifying the issue. My transmission was filled with ATF, not 30W engine oil. This is likely the culprit for loss of traction power. The clutch-ring has intact friction tape on both sides of the circumference, ~1mm thick x 10mm wide. So I'll clean out the ATF residue and fill'er up with 30W engine oil. Thanks.

@@rw3dog The existing 1mm of friction material is intact. Noticed that the transmission was filled with ATF. Cleaned it out and refilled with SAE30W. It works! Also found out that I needed to tighten the auger clutch nut to about 90Ft.Lbs. It now blows the snow and propels forwards and reverse. Thanks for your help.
